I’m making a quilt that has a LOT of flying geese. Today I tried the tip about nudging the small squares toward the center of the bigger square. It is a game changer!! Thank you for sharing this. 😊

Hello! I just stepped out of my sewing room as I'm now working on Christmas gifts. I'm so grateful to be able to sit and watch your video. I hope you have a glorious week ahead! Thank you for sharing this and for your time to make this.

I’ve often struggled with the center tip of the geese - thanks for the nudging tip! And the no nudge numbers 😀

Deb YOU ARE SO SMART ... Thank you for all of your tools, technique sheets, and patterns. You have made a "long time (bad) quilter" into a really good quilter!! Thank you so much!

Thanks yiu Deb and everyone for giving use the “nudge” method of attaching the squares. I’ve made lots of Flying Geese and am not happy when folding the triangles back. I just live with it figuring that I didn’t see perfectly (which I truly cannot do)! That slight nudge takes the cake and I am definitely going to share with my quilt guild. Deb is fantastic - I do love the slight enlargement of the cut pieces and then trimming down to be perfect sizes.

Thanks for the reminder to nudge my corner blocks! It really does help. I do enjoy making flying geese with your method. I enjoy the videos where you show projects from magazines or books and then how to tuckerize the blocks. Looking forward to your next video!

Thanks for the extra tips. I have some fabric and my Wing Clipper ready to go, but time. Too much in the works now.

Thank you for sharing, the "nudge" explanation. I've been using the wing clipper tool, but lining the squares up with the edge of the big square. The top of the geese come out nice, but the base doesn't always have a nice sharp point when joined. most of the time I loose my sharp point.

Love your videos Deb. Such great information to make me a better quilter. Is there a pattern for the flying geese quilt you are standing in front of? I can’t find one anywhere and I would love to make it

I have been tuckerizing for quite a while but today I ran into a situation I haven’t had before with flying geese. Stripes! Is there a way to use your method and have the stripes all go the same way? Thanks! Love your videos!

As always, I love your videos. I have learned so much from watching all of them. My comment/question, when you place the first 2 small squares on the large square, the corners overlap. After stitching and cutting, there is a little point of the small square left with the opposite side so you have some added bulk. Have u figured out a way to eliminate that. I have tried to snip off the overlap with varying success. Have you looked at this problem? Any ideas? Thx

Is this when you nudge or cut the squares larger? If you can email us at customer service about this I will have time to look into this. It isn't something that I have noticed when I make the flying geese using my numbers.

After you place the small squares onto the large square and have the diagonal lines line up, draw another line perpendicular across the place where the corners of the small squares overlap. (It will look like a triangle.) Cut across that line. You will be cutting 2 pieces of fabric at a time. Your diagonal lines should butt up together. Stitch. Viola!!! I always made flying geese one-at-a-time because I did not like the extra bulk at the point with the 4-at-a -time method. I do not remember how many extra layers of fabric there is without trimming the little triangles off, but it is between 2-3. Lots of extra bulk. I now do the 4-at-a-time method if doing multiple geese of the same colors. Also, I used to sew the small squares onto the larger square with a scant 1/4" seam allowance. DO NOT SEW WITH A SCANT SEAM ON THIS. You will end up with a teeny little bit of extra fabric showing at the finished point. Ask me how I discovered this - after making many, many geese with the bit of extra fabric peeking out!!! I discovered this hint on another channel. I do not remember which one. Hope this all make sense. Good luck. Karen Christensen in northeastern Colorado

@@karenchristensen9679 It does. I will check on this when I make them next and let you know what I discover. I think a Certified Instructor might have something for this now that you mention it. Can you email me at studio180designcustomerservice@gmail.com about this so that I can send you a link for this?

Where can I find the pattern for the quilt on your long arm?
@DebTuckersStudio180Design
@DebTuckersStudio180Design 2 года назад
This was a free pattern from Moda but they took it down after I made the quilt for this segment because there were so many errors in the pattern. I am sorry that I can't share the link for the pattern with you. I would if I could.
