Tudor Black Bay GMT Opaline - My New FAVOURITE! 

Visited my local A.D and it was love at first sight. I’m now the proud owner of both the black and White dial 👌

Saw it in the flesh and said "take my money" had it for just over 2 weeks and I love it. The thickness is not an issue for me I love the heft

Totally agree, best looking new release! Have been very close to buying the black dial GMT for some time but now waiting to visit my AD to try on both black & Opaline dials together.

I like the new red bezel with the T-Fit clasp. I prefer the traditional Oyster bracelet, though. I have the BB41 blue bezel and it gains 5 seconds per MONTH, so I would say my particular movement would comply with the new METAS rating.

I was at my AD 2 weeks ago looking for a GMT I could wear anywhere when travelling. My focus was on a Longines Zulu which I found fabulous until I got to see it irl. What a disappointment that was, the dome was too big and te watch dial was recessed way back. So they showed me a few other GMT's. The tudor was sitting really well so I asked for the white dial. They only had one (and was reserved) but after some discussion they let me have it. I just love it. I checked it out with my timegrapher and it's inside op 1sec/day.

Completely agree I said that when I saw the release my self. But per usual. White dials can take some time to grow on people. Like the omega SMP 300m white dial, after some time, you just have to have it.

Great video! I think the reason this model isn't getting much love is because of the same dimensions, same bracelet with no T-fit micro adjustment as last years black dial BB Gmt.. now if they would slim down the case like the new BB 41 burgundy Master Chronometer plus the new jubilee with the T-fit adjustment bracelet, this would've been the star of the show 🤘⌚️🙂👍

I'm not usually a fan of the Tudor's hour hand, but this is one of the nicest looking Tudor watches currently available. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh

It's a beautiful watch. I'm a sucker for a white dial. I own the Heriage 41mm in house. I think the bracelet is the same as the GMT. It is a bit odd that they didn't upgrade the bracelet for the new release.

Without a doubt, this in the 39mm case would be my absolute dream watch. We'll,second after a 6542 white dial.

I saw this watch after dropping off my no time to die smp300 to have omega try to improve its action…gawped at it in the window, then went to pizza express..started to brood about it…went back afterwards & bought it. It looks gorgeous.

Just bought this exact watch today. It is simply gorgeous and fits me perfectly.

The opaline dial BB GMT was definitely the star release from Tudor at WnW. The only thing about that watch that isn’t perfect is the legibility of white hands against a white-ish dial. Otherwise it’s perfect!

This is the most beautiful release from Tudor I agree!!! Glad someone is making video about it. I have also informed my AD that I want to be on the list. Quick question, are you at all bothered with the gap in the crown tube? Cos that is the only dealbreaker potentially for me. Other than that Im sure i will like everything about it. Including the thickness which i dont mind...

I completely agree. Love this so much I think it may be the perfect travel companion for any situation beach, slopes, business or urban adventure, summer or winter. Also will complement by black dial BB 41 so nicely (I like the sturdy and manly thickness). Oh god, Tudor, you will make me poor!!! 😂🎉❤

One week in with my GMT Pepsi Opaline! This is now my favorite watch by far. It only lost 2 seconds over the whole week!

Collected my opaline gmt recently from AD and agree it's sweet. My only disappointment is that a jubilee bracelet should have been fitted. Would have given it more character 😢

I've got the black dial BB GMT but would swap it for this version in a heartbeat. Gorgeous!

With you on this Harrison (as always). I think it's a terrific looking watch. Personally, I would switch out the bracelet for a reddish brown leather strap. I can cope with the thickness due to being used to my current Tag Link Chronograph, which is about the same. I'm considering a watch purchase and I have been fairly set on the Longines Zulu Time but this release has put doubt in my mind. It just looks so good...

I love the Tudor watches that used the Tudor rose logo on the crown and the dial instead of the shield emblem. Of course, the history of the English Middle Ages and the Tudor dynasty are an interest of mine so the Tudor rose makes sense to me.

I have this watch with the Nato strap….. love it!!

I'm most interested in the new BB36 in blue.

Thickness is zero worries when you have a Seiko Marinemaster 300 in rotation. Its a thin watch my guy!

It's kind of funny that Harrison and Adrian at Bark&Jack/About Effing Time have the exact same cadence for presentation. Burst speed and volume at the beginning, slow down taper, and re-ignite.

Can't help comparing you to Adrian Barker. Same presentation and conversation style but with a Scottish accent. Maybe you guys should collaborate? You both like watches, photography & adventures in the wilderness. Would be a fantastic pairing for YT content.

If they had slimmed the thickness down. Put it on a 5 link bracelet with a t-fit clasp. (As the standard Tudor clasp is rubbish for figment). I would buy it tomorrow.

I own the Opaline GMT and the OG Tudor black bay burgundy. At13mm, there burgundy is 2mm thinner than the GMT, but the difference is virtually imperceptible when they are on my 6.5” wrist. Both feel like robust luxury watches with above average wrist presence.

It's still too thick 😩 until Tudor manage to correct the thickness it's a no from me.

It's time for Tudor to upgrade the aluminum bezel to ceramic just like the pelagos series.

agreed i think its a great release! its my next watch! yes i wish they had thinned down the case, even some more bevelling would be an improvement, and i defo wish they had gone for the 5 link jubilee with the T Fit clasp - despite that, its my next watch, though i will prob end up putting an uncle seiko jubilee on it.....

Tudor is always hyped after these events. Then I am hyped and go to the AD and I am ALWAYS underwhelmed somehow. I don’t know, they just look cheap to me. I would advise, put the money in an index fund or whatever and save a bit more for a better watch.

Great review, I can see you really like the new color. I own the black dial variant for more than 2 years now and I love everything about it, even the thickness since I like chunky watches. I fully agree that the Opaline color is refreshing and offers a nice alternative to the current GMT line. Great launch from Tudor this year. How about doing a review on the new BB36/39/41 next 😉?

I own the black dial BBay GMT and adore it, it is a chunky boy but I’ve got a 7 inch wrist and it works. Of the 3 new tudors I think the opaline GMT is my least favourite, I think it’s the lack of contrast between the white indices and opaline dial. Same reason I prefer the black dial in the Tudor chronograph. Shame though coz it is very striking and beautiful, I just find the legibility is off

As a young Engineer in the 1970’s/80’s traveling in multiple time zones, I ended up buying 2 Rolex GMT’s, with different colors- and closely following the ads that discussed the white dialed GMT’s made for Pan Am folks, very jealously! This is really something I’d love!

I agree with you. It's the best looking Tudor watch this year! The only thing stopping me from buying would be Tudor not updating the clasp with the T-fit!

There ARE forum rumors of a new novelty BB GMT in a thinner version on a jubilee for 2024. I’ll believe it when I see it. Either way, Tudor is so fair on pricing that its an easy purchase.

I think it’s a titan of a release, yes it’s “just a dial change” but that change in appearance, is everything. We now have a slightly iridescent & white dialled Pepsi! You don’t hear Rolex GMT Pepsi owners conceding “it’s just a bezel colour-way” do you? - the detail is everything. I’ve picked one up for Xmas this year, about 3 wks ago.

Reason for the look warm welcome is they did nothing to address the problems , the dimensions .. people sold the original on mass because it was too thick and uncomfortable on wrist and they haven’t learned from their mistake.. I would have loved to hold onto mine but it was like a tank the way it rolled around the wrist . Probably the most unmanageable watch I’ve ever owned

Tried one of these on after picking up my Pelagos 39 and this felt like a wall clock on my wrist in comparison. Too big for me!

The thickness is not the issue, I have the Pro which is thicker but has shorter lug length and a Tfit clasp for perfect wear. I visited my AD last week to try on the opaline dial GMT and really wanted to fall in love with it as it is gorgeous, but for my 6.75 inch wrist I could only pull it off if it had the Tfit. I ended up walking away with a Pelagos 39 instead (a watch that I'd pondered over for months). If you want thin, get the new 39mm Longines GMT, but for me I'd stick with the Pro. It's the only watch in my collection that looks more handsome every time I wear it. If they release a variant of the Pro format with Rolex GMT style ceramic bezel (Batman?) at £4500 it would break the internet.

This opaline Dial Gmt is awesome in color and functionality ,however the watch is way too bulky and the clasp needs improvement.

Owning the black dial personally the thickness isn't an issue but the thing I would add is lume on the bezel.

If this was available when I got my GMT, I would've gotten it. I was able to see it at the AD and in different light, the dial gives you a white/silver look. I love my black dial though. Wish they gave it the T-Fit clasp. [Edit] I changed my bracelet to a Model O bracelet from Forstner bands, love it.

Rolex GMT Pepsi with white dial would be an absolute killer watch.

Not bronze GMT for "...other model". S&G aka Root beer. As for thickness- wear it for a week and see. So many watches (many Chronograph watches for example) are so much thicker and this one pulls it off handily because of how the lugs wrap the wrist.

This minor update tells me they are trying to move as many of these GMTs as possible this year and maybe next. Then a redesign similar to what just happened with the BB41 (red).

You ll never guess, my fav is the Tudor Style 38mm standard black dial without stones on stainless steel.

For my wrist size I would choose black bay 54 for sure

I have the original Pepsi BB GMT and the issue I have with this release is the old clasp ... Why??? Should have come with the new t-fit. It is a bit thick, like all most BB watches but on a bracelet it will hide it better than on the leather or NATO. Cheers!

I think many people like this new dial colour and that is probably part of the problem with the greater fuss of the other models released at W&W. This is not a new model, it's a new colour. People are already aware of the specs and probably have a pretty neat idea on how it would wear. The 54 is brand new so that is likely why there was an increased interest. The BB41 now has a METAS certified movement and its taken a couple of years since the 1st METAS Tudor Ceramic. I like the opaline dial but I still prefer the matt black version of the current GMT and the BB Pro. I have the BB Chrono Panda that also has an opaline dial and it looks brilliant but it's not as readable as the dark dial with the silver hands but it looks epic. If Tudor had gone for black hands and hour plot surrounds similar to what Omega did with the SMP300M 'Great White', then it would be more readable. Anyway I love the look of this new variation at some point. An opaline dial for the BB Pro would be interesting but for me would need black hands and different hour plots as the current versions slightly aged slices of lume do not have any surrounds, the yellow GMT hand would ideally need a change of colour as well. Many thanks for sharing, maybe we'll see some more Tudor releases in the next months similar to last year.

It was my third Tudor watch in 2023. It’s my version of Rolex meteorite, white gold gmt. Lol

I love the chrono with the white face, but I still prefer the old gmt with the black face and thinner case

I have my black dialled BBGMT on a blue Vanguard rubber strap. This watch would look amazing on that. I liked the newly released bluey/green Black Bay with the Jubilee bracelet.

the GMT is a great watch, please don"t create hype around it, we want to see new tudors at the stores but when watches become so hyped it is hard to get them.

Seems like thickness is Tudor's Achilles hill. Why is that? Their movements?

Is the GMT not similar in size to your BB41 Heritage model with the red bezel?

The case thickness is actually more of an illusion than anything. The case back and crystal extend farther off the case than on other BB models given the illusion of the (ugggggh 🙄) thick slab. I own the BB GMT with black dial and its VERY wearable on my 7.25 inch wrist. Where things get silly are the oyster Breitling 46mm cases and monster PAM cases (I just sold my Radiomir Black Seal 45mm). Similarly, I have no problem wearing my 36mm DateJust on my bigger wrist. But, to each his/her own.

The chunkier case of the BB 41mm has never bothered me, but then I'm used to Sinn diving watches, too, so the Tudor always seems small compared to those. The BB 54 sports a lovely design, but IMHO it's just too petite for a man's watch in the 21st century.

It didn’t make the hot news because the 54 had heritage, it’s an actual new model and had the specs to please many more wrists from both genders. And let’s not get mistaken, a polar dial BB Pro IS coming, then a new P39 variant, a new clasp for the BB58 and eventually a variant for the 54. Like MCU, it’s a matter of filling void and managing hype and interest.

I have the Black Dial. Like the white dial as well but I don't understand why they did not add the T-Clasp. You can't even buy that Bracelet.

14.5mm thickness, NO THANK YOU!!!! Beautiful watch and I would instantly buy it if it was 13mm or less, but at 14.5 for a non chrono?! NOPE!

For me, the only thing that would have made this watch better is if came with a 5 link or Jubilee style bracelet. If it did, I'd be wiring money somewhere right now.
