Managed to collect mine yesterday on the rubber strap, the proportions are spot on, the thickness seems to just blend into the overall proportions of the watch. In other words you really don't notice the thickness. It really is a watch which needs to be seen, you simply don't notice it being 'thick' at all. Overall very impressed, great watch.

I am a minority here for sure, but I love Tudor watches particularly for their thickness. It transmits a sense of a true tool watch, which is what I am interested in, regardless of what I am wearing or the occasion. But I believe that your comments at the end of the video are the most important and I wish all agreed with you: we have had enough of waiting list, flippers and paying premium just to be able to own something which is not a limited edition piece. So I am done with Rolex, for instance, and anything else (clubs, restaurants, etc.) where I need to wait and be robbed.

I'm with you too on the thickness. I love my 41mm BB diver for how solid it feels and wears. The best part of the thickness complaint is that you can get sweet deals on the used market.

The greatest obstacle to obtaining a good timepiece should be the cost to buy. If there’s more to it than that… forget it. There’s too many good options out there to get stuck on one brand.
@alfieakaronaldog

What’s your next purchase going to be then? Mines hopefully a BB Pro, which is why I watched a video about it. Is this the same philosophy you apply to games consoles?

@@alfieakaronaldog I’m not sure what my next watch purchase is going to be, which is why I watched this video. I also figure that eventually there will be PS5’s in the store, so I am playing the waiting game on consoles. @alfieakaronaldog
@alfieakaronaldog 2 года назад
@@Bemjji I’m assuming the cash/cost price is not an obstacle to you then if you were viewing as a prospective purchase? As you knew that the BB Pro is going to be wait listed, forgive me if I call BS on that being true though. @ChrisWalker-fq7kf
@ChrisWalker-fq7kf 2 года назад
I don't think smaller watches necessarily need to be thinner than larger ones (as people are alleging by harking on about "proportion"). I think the visual impact of thickness is actually *reduced* by making the watch smaller in diameter. There is less watch and that makes up for the fact that it's a bit thick. That's borne out by all the video I've seen of the BB Pro - it looks great to me. Pleasantly chunky but not oversized in general.

I am amazed how i lived with without the bracelet adjustment which i use now all the time. I have small wrists. Around 17cm. It fits fabulous. And thickness is a non issue. It is there but not in a bad way. It is also more comfortable than my bb58. But i think this is more due to my sharper edged bb58 than anything else.

Tried this on the leather/rubber strap and it wears really nice on my 7.10 inch wrist. It certainly has a certain presence height wise, however, it isn't noticeable and the 39mm case negates this well. A really handsome, retro but modern watch. Too thick and too heavy. For just over £3000 . Nope not for me. So what if it due to the crystal, overall thickness is overall thickness. And how come this guy never mentions the weight in grams of the watches . That is a key point that most watch reviewers now mention as it is a key indicator of comfort on wrist. That and yes, thickness….Simples.

Adrian you have managed to articulate my view on this watch better than I could. I heard about this watch and and almost dismissed it as being too thick from the spec sheet. My very kind AD invited me to just take a look at the watch on the bracelet, it's not a thin watch but on the wrist it wore very well indeed and the bracelet is superb (I don't mind the faux rivets, I don't even notice them on the wrist). I now have this watch on my wrist, yes it would be nice if it was thinner but we could say the same for almost all watches. This is now my watch and I'm very happy with it. I have to agree that the lume plots without any surround are brilliant The T clasp is arguably one of the best available on a bracelet, no buttons to push or link clicks to engage it's brilliant. I hope Tudor offer these clasp options for other models in the future, alternatively get a Bark and Jack strap that I may be looking for for my other watches..

Phoned my AD about this watch say three weeks ago to inquire about picking it up. At the time, she said they hadn't seen any come into the shop yet and definitely not on bracelet (which is what I was requesting). So, yeah, you know it...the list. But this tale has a happy ending and that's why I'm sharing. She called yesterday to let me know the bracelet version is in and it's mine if I want it. It'll be on my wrist Thursday. The point? The wait was minimal and this should not end up causing the same frustration as its sister brand and its nebulous lists.

Good points about watch dimensions; on paper they may sound a certain way, but in person they can appear differently. I think several measurements are important in how a watch wears. As many know, that’s the case diameter, lug-to-lug length, and overall thickness. That being said, I think layering with thickness can be important too. That’s not going to be reflected in the dimensions, but is apparent when you see a watch in-person. Here you pointed out how the domed sapphire glass adds to that overall thickness. This can make a watch appear thinner than it actually is. Additionally, the sloped bezel probably helps reduce the apparent thickness as well. Nonetheless, I think the slab side of the case will still probably make this watch appear thicker than I prefer.

Initially, the salesman advised the bracelet. However, seeing all three on my wrist he agreed that the hybrid was more suited. He even brought over another one of his colleagues and he even agreed so “cash me out please!” I’m so happy! And I barely notice it’s thickness. I kind of like it! It’s a tool watch after all. I’ll admit to posting comments about it being too thick and it is thicker than I like but I’ve been waiting for a simple,clean dial with a date function so I finally decided to go and see one on Saturday, they only had it on the hybrid strap, personally I thick it’s 100% rubber. I decided to buy my first luxury priced watch because the dial and bezel looks gorgeous and the thickness isn’t the deal breaker I thought it would be, for reference I found the pelogos too thick but the diameter was out off my comfort zone Currently the things I’m not keen on are the gmt hand as it probably stands out too much making the watch less intuitive to read at a glance. Also the rubber strap isn’t particularly comfortable as I seem to be between holes for the right fit and it’s a bit squeaky. And as for a pleasurable shopping experience, it wasn’t. The manager seamed great and answered my email very well and he was pleasant in the shop but he was busy when I turned up and I got a different salesman who really takes the joy out of the experience.

I think because it's a 39mm case the thickness ratio looks more pronounced. It's a bit chunky yes, but it's a GMT movement so it will be at this price level. Still a great watch. Try it on the wrist and then decide how it feels. Specific dimensions are not always the deciding factor when wearing a watch.

Nonsense. There are lots of GMT watches at this price level and below that come in around 12mm. Tudor not going back to the drawing board to make a thinner GMT movement was lazy.

First I agree trying the watch on in person is a must if you can. I have a small collection of watches including three Rolex watches purchased before the price boom. I also own one of the original Omega Planet Ocean watches in the 42mm size. The thickness of my Omega is 14.1mm. I noticed this extra thickness over my Rolex watches and feel this watch is easier to bang into things. From my wearing experiences with my watches I look for watches under 13.5mm in thickness. All of my Rolex sport watches are under 13mm and are very comfortable to wear. I tried a 41mm Tudor Black Bay GMT and it felt very bulky to me. I used to own a Breitling but sold it because it was too bulky as well. Thin watches that sit closer to your wrist should be the default for something costing thousands of dollars. The Tissot Gentlemen Powermatic 80 is 11.5mm thick with 80 hours of power reserve at $775. I personally think Tudor has the resources to do better but maybe Rolex wants them to be a step behind. I like the look of the Black Bay Pro.
@pth8888
@pth8888 2 года назад
Thickness is just one parameter. It is the overall case proportion that is important. Thick case with small diameter make the watch look stubby. Whereas same case thickness but larger diameter make the watch looks perfect. So consider all parameters holistically. As mentioned, always try the watch in the flesh before passing any final judgement.

The real spirit of Rolex is on TUDOR now, super happy for that. If people bother's me because TUDOR is the Rolex for poor man , I would say ,Rolex is the Patek P........ for poor man, just in case, I own a Rolex Air King, absolutely love it. I will go for that TUDOR right away.Nice video.

Great update… visited my AD and tried on the pro on the hybrid strap as it was the only one in stock, I was the first to try and placed my deposit for this watch and fingers crossed will be offered to purchase. Great fit and the thickness does not show on the wrist, beautiful watch.

I love the design of this watch and the thickness does not bother me at all. I have an Orfina chrono and it’s a thick watch but that doesn’t bother me. I had the BB GMT for a few years and enjoyed the watch except it never fit right. The lack of adjustment in the old clasp and no half link made the watch feel either too tight or too loose. This claps solves that issue. The faux rivets weren’t bad either. You really don’t notice them wearing the watch. This is a watch I see myself picking up at some point and I can’t wait to try it on.

Tudor fanboy and also a Rolex one! The more I saw it and eventually got my hands on it, the less I liked it. Tudor , the only brand to be forgiven for making a Clomage! But adding a handset that lets be fair should be only on dive watches is an easy way to distract your thoughts Adrian! Watch is way too thick on my wrist , can be forgiven as a Chronograph but not a GMT.

I've owned a Tudor BB GMT since 2018 and BB58 Navy since 2021. They wear different but both are great. I like that one watch is slightly bigger and utilitarian. The other is slighter and works with smarter outfits. Variety is the spice of life.

My AD told me they wouldn't have one to even look at for at least 2 months. Yet these are showing up on the grey market already at a 2k price premium. I guess they are really taking the Rolex family business practices to heart.

If I had your collection - I might actually be happy with a two-watch rotation, as I feel like the Explorer and Explorer ii are an incredible duo. With that said, I do like the new BB Pro. I’d be more inclined to seek it if it had a white dial, though.

If you like this look then I think the GS SBGE283 / 285 is a much better option. Better case dimensions, better finishing, great materials and movement - and available so you don't have to deal with all the Rolex / Tudor BS

Have you ever tried on a James Cameron Deepsea? I have a Submariner, an old Explorer II, a Tudor GMT and a Speedmaster. I tried on the JC Deepsea and its thickness is ridiculous. Looked a nice watch but absolutely horrid on and for that reason would never buy.

@@chops6890 I have and to tell you the truth that didn’t bother me either. I am a bigger guy who lifts a lot of weights so for my size and shape I think I notice case size a lot more than I notice thickness.

I do love your take on the whole waiting list BS, your spot on with that. I think I woud definitley go for one of these and probaly fit it with a flat AR coated saphire cryatal, if there is sufficient space. Will have to get one and take it apart to have a look. having had the Black Bay GMT for a while now, and loving it, this looks to be the way to go.
@BulletBeena
@BulletBeena 2 года назад
It's a great looking watch that's for sure. I haven't seen one in the flesh but if it is like the other Black Bay models then, for me, the actual thickness isn't a problem - it's the way they wear it. I love the Tudor GMT but I tried one on and it's just so slab sided that I found it clumsy looking. Same for the original Black Bay. If the case was sculpted somehow (like a Yachtmaster for example) I think it would hide the dimensions more elegantly.

In many ways, Tudor makes the old Rolex watches we all want but can’t buy anymore. If they made a watch like this but in the likeness of the 1016 I think we’d all buy one in a heartbeat.

In 97.56% of cases, if you think a watch is too thick, it probably is. I gave the Tudor Pepsi GMT a shot, and it was exactly as thick as I thought it would be, I just tolerate it for the bezel.

I don't get why people complain about rivets on the bracelet, most argue that it is there just for looking vintage and not having any function. But Rolex Datejust with Fluted bezel is just the same, the fluted bezel once had a screw down tightening function. Now it has no function and is only there to look vintage, people don't argue against having that.

About the thickness, I believe the 5 digit Rolex 16600 Seadweller is 14.5mm thick and that watch is wonderful.
