Hands down the best review I've seen about this watch or any other I've seen. Good camera work capturing the detail and very informative.... Good work! Want one now😍
This is my favorite Tudor. The very slight creamy paint for the lume, the clean and satin finish of the bezel, the clean black dial. It is the ultimate gentlemen's tool watch that will look good with everything. And with those dimensions it will sit perfectly on my wrist.
I've bought new and sold a JLC Master Compressor Extreme World Alarm, Hublot Big Bang Unico and Blancpain Bathyscaphe and without doubt rate my Tudor Pelagos LHD the best watch I've owned and the only watch I've kept. Cannot speak highly enough about it. +2 sec/day, 70 hour power reserve, 500M, in-house movement, sublime bezel click, awesome lume, titanium and ceramic is comfortable on the wrist and doesn't scratch. Mine is pristine and I love it. I don't need the Rolex name to impress others. I buy watches which impress me.
@austin rosin Hey mate, I think mentioning that I purchased a few high end watches brand new made me seem like a tosser in his eyes, but only mentioned it to emphasise how great the Pelagos is as I rate it better than those others. Impressing strangers on youtube isn't my thing and was just telling a story. Anyway, can't fault the Pelagos in any way and keeping mine for good. Good luck with your purchase. Are you buying new or preowned? I've never purchased Rolex, but the supercased Sub may have been an option at one stage but 40mm is still a fraction small for me. The beefier case is a tick, but the Pelagos dimensions are spot on. I recently purchased an Omega for the first time (Planet Ocean 43.5mm) and hate to say, but it's trumped my Pelagos. Mind blowing accuracy and I'm still giddy over the transparent caseback and incredible engineering. Got it in blue and blue rubber strap. Let's know how you go.
@@np1663 sold mine after two months. Was too boring to look at, the sunburst dial was way over done almost blinding me, the pip at 12 didn't align, the movement was all over the shop running fast for a few minutes after winding, the sailcloth strap was too short, pin buckles are cheap, the lugs were a strange shape and too sharp, nobody could tell me if the strap was waterproof even though it was a 300M diver, nobody at Blancain ever returned my online messages. I now own a Pelagos LHD and Planet Ocean 8900 and for me there is no better watch out there.
For people who love diving watches this has got to be the ultimate in diving watch tool Watch I'm surprised that they haven't all been snapped up. you guys out there need to get one of these in your collection of divers watches review team totally agree with everything you've just said
Wow, I never realized this Pelagos existed! I like it a lot! Everything you said at the end was exactly what I was thinking, Tim. This one is now on my radar.
You cannot compare a Tudor to a Panerai in-house variants..they have upped their game and have great tech and materials (e.g., BMGTech)..Moreover, Panerai use grade 5 titanium on the bezel..this is only grade 2.
@@algorithm007ify grade 2 used at the Pelagos leads to a phantastic satin/brushed finish. I wonder, if that would be possible with grade 5... because of the tooly satin/brushed finish, scratches are not really a problem. Panerei is not a "fair" honest company. The try to be rolex, but they are really overpriced. Tudor Pelagos has the right mix of bang for buck, super tech specs, and some properties of snobbery. But the price for Panerei is more snobbery than bang for buck.
Thank you for this enjoyable review! Well read, well said, and watch nicely handled. I love my LHD and agree with essentially all of your astute observations both technical and aesthetic. It is not the most expensive watch in this class, but it is the most satisfying. A grown up tool watch with a dash of sophistication. Rugged, I've worn it in the wild and in the boardroom. There are few places where it is not appropriate. And that lume...potent!
Just ordered mine at AD, I gave up on my Black Bay coz it’s weight. The Pelagos is way easier/lighter to deal with. Don’t get me wrong I would still love the Rolex Sub but this is mad more watch for $4K!!!
Do you think by saying that you sound like a watch expert? You must be a little man or just a slave to tradition. This is a 500M diver. 42mm is an absolute minimum.
^You've said it all. Despite the waves of marketing and blog hype for Tudor in general, I always feel as though the Pelagos is lost in the mix of endless Black Bay iterations. The Pelagos is a far better product. Best, Tim

How would you compare the weight vs a similar 42mm watch? I am very tempted to buy one, but the closest AD is much too far, and more importantly, I like a bit of assuring weight to my watches. I like everything about this watch that I see but if it's too feathery I'm afraid it'll end up on my eBay listings.
@ with one link out it weighs 143g. It doesnt feel light at at all. Its a bit lighter than a 5 digit bimetal sub (147g). I own both the sub and this one, and the pelagos beat the sub in every regard, both the old and new sub. Only downside is the bit of extra thickness. But the pelagos still gets a lot more wrist time. I'd say this is the best diver in the world right now. Honestly, if a sub wasnt a must have for a watch collection, id skip it. Go for the pelagos. You wont be disappointed!
@@MrCinemuso wow, the rolex subs and Daytonas are not really heavier than the Pelagos. How can it be? Is it the new movement, which makes the new Tudors so heavy?
I love the Pelagos as I love most of the current Tudor sports watch range. I’m so put off by the ubiquitous “David-Beckham-Looking-Angry” marketing though. I’m sure it does well for them numbers wise but I’d always be worried people might think I bought the piece because I wanted to look like a tattooed footballer
Pound for pound, I like this better than a Sub. I might not pick it over a Sub...but it is worth considering. Full disclosure, I own both the Rolex and a Tudor 79220r (which is not the Pelagos).
Very important: The LHD version is super comfortable wearing it on left hand! That was my main reason to buy the Pelagos! Otherwise I would have choosen a watch with the crown 4th/5th hour or the SINN EZM 13 which is a tactical chrono diver with 500 m water proof and also having the crown and pushers on left side. You see? Du to functional reasons it makes fully sense the have LHD watches for right handed people, wearing the watch on the left hand! I hate the "red" dot on my left hand coming from watches with the crown on 3 th hour.
I just purchased the ETA pelagos yesterday, having the 2nd Jen + the LHD all side by side I decided on my 1st Jen as it's the only one with the lume at the date window. The other two maybe more valuable in the future with in-house movement! The LHD was a very close first choice though 😕
I kind of disagree with the comment that companies who make exact remakes of vintage piece aren't getting it right. For me, the interpretations of vintage watches are more often too big and inelegant compared to the watch they are based on. That said, I like this Pelagos LHD. Not sure about hte color of the hands and hour markers though. Seems an odd shade of yellow in most pictures though I have not yet seen it in real life.
I had a few scratches on my pelagus when I cut it accidentally but I took it to Rolex dealer and above them out within seconds I have no problem with it getting scratched because they both out easily
The speedy is more versatile- it can be dressed up or down and suits leather, steel and nato really well. I'd probably get that as there are great dive watches that are cheap (seiko skx, sumo, sbdc053 etc) whereas you won't find a manual wind chrono with the coolness and history of the speedy anywhere. They're both great watches and you won't go wrong with either- if you spend a lot of time in the water maybe get the pelagos, i have the speedy and am now looking at the blue pelagos but the dive watch market is crowded with great value watches
@@bigbrotherwatchesdannyboy306 I went for the Pelagos in the end, owned it a short while and sold it on. Don’t think I’ll add a Speedmaster tbh I’m going to buy something from Cartier.
