No, they are not. Henry VIII is the father of Mary, Elizabeth and Edward Tudor, Mary Stuart (the queen of scots) is the granddaughter of Henry's sister Margaret who married the Scottish king. Her son is Mary Stuart's father. Mary Stuart's claim to the English throne is based on her descendance of Margaret's and Henry's father, King Henry VII of England. Mary Tudor became Mary I of England after her half-brother Edward died. When she died, Elizabeth succeeded her. Mary Stuart on the other hand, who was just as catholic as Mary Tudor, became ~6 days after she was born queen because her father died in battle. After Mary Tudor's death there was a controversy who should succeed her, since Mary Tudor was a proud catholic. The catholics thought of Mary Stuart as the rightful heir and the protestants of Elizabeth, who in the end was the queen of England. Little fact by the side, Henry VIII and Margaret also had a sister called Mary Tudor who became Queen of France. If you look into English history, you will find many queens or members of the royal family called Mary, Elizabeth, Katherine or Anne. I hope I could make that a little clearer to you.

But she really didn’t deserve the nickname since all the other European monarchs, princes, and clergies did the same. They waged war and committed slaughters far more atrocious than Mary. Apparently they didn’t get the nickname. For example, Mary’s father Henry VIII executed hundreds of more times of people than Mary did. And he wasn’t remembered as Bloody Henry. And people often forgot how Mary managed to be the first recognized Queen Regnant of England. If it wasn’t her who set the ground, people would have a harder time to accept Elizabeth as Queen.

She was as much of a slaver as her heir which took what he saw from his predecessor further and started English colonies. +juutepuutjuh I'm actually well aware of that ;) That's why I vidded the Tudor sisters and took footage for Mary from The Tudors, where she was portrayed by Sarah Bolger, while the ones from Elizabeth is from The Tudors & Reign (teenager & queen). Maybe I should have added Tudor into the title so it is more obvious for those who haven't seen both TV series ;)

Mary Stuart wasn't Elizabeth's niece she was her second-cousin. May's grandmother Margaret who was the eldest daughter of King Henry VII of England was Elizabeth's aunt.

(Don't think I have a religious bias pls, I'm a proud atheist) she burned arround 300 and killed less per year than any other monarch in her nuclear family, so her not deserving that nickname is a "fact-checked " thing at least being the less deserving of the name among her glorıfıed family members...

I'm already really excited about The Crown (which is about Elizabeth I.) and the series about Victoria by ITV. I hope they will be published very soon, because I just have to watch and vid them.

I live in Germany but I'm really into period dramas and stumbled upon them. For the Crown there is even an official trailer over at the Netflix channel. For the Elizabeth video I just have to find the right song :D
