TUESDAY - NORMANDY COAST - ARROMANCHES - GOLD AND JUNO D-DAY BEACHES
So after a few hours of rain when we roamed around Beyeux and those who had not seen the Tapestry went to see it. By 11am the rain had eased off so we decided to head for Arromanches - the British Beach. Fortunately he tide was out so we had access to the bits of the Mulberry Harbour that had been washed up on the shore in that terrible storm in 1944. And there they remained. Very poignant as we stood there on the beach, imagining what might have gone before and counting our blessings.
After having had a baguette, we made our way up to the 360 degree theatre which I had been to before but I do not remember what a waste of time and euros performance was. Virtually no commentary and the cinematography was poor.
So then we headed to Juno Beach - the black and white building in so many of the videos of D-Day is miraculously still standing. Afterwards had a coffee in the local very basic cafe - the owner was a bit of a comic !
Then headed back to Bayeux for another slap up dinner !
