Tuff Bunk install on my Nitro boat trailer

My boat trailer bunks were thrashed and I actually started having issues with them at just a couple of years old. I decided to try something other than the original carpeted bunks after I saw a You Tube video that the Owner (Randy) made. I tried to do some research but I really couldn't find anything; I found a few other types that were almost, or maybe the same material, but they were just caps that you put over the wood or carpet and to me, that still left the wood exposed to the water. I spoke to Randy over the phone, and after that conversation I felt comfortable enough to give them a try. I don't work for the company, so if I didn't explain the product as they would, I apologize. Visit their website or give them a call to get the proper verbiage and description of the product and material.

Just looking at those bunks i think i would feel more comfortable sliding my boat up on carpet ,, enjoyed the video

So how has your tough bunks held up so far? Any problems on loading or unloading? Any boat slippage while loading pulling out of the water? Overall thoughts on the product

I'm thinking that u could cover the tuff bunks with carpet to have the best if both worlds

Do they leave any marks on bottom of boat? Fiberglass or Aluminum? Will they put wear makes on aluminum finish?

I sold my boat, so I wanted to give a five month update on the bunks. Everything was still going good with no wear and just as solid as new. I will be ordering my new boat and there is no reason to put out some money for new tuff bunks unless of course tuff bunks wanted to send me some for free ;). Please continue to ask any questions you may have and be safe out there on the water

Man, I feel if you reach out to Randy he might just do that. This video just sold me on getting some and doing it before I go fishing one day! Great video on showing the ease that these can be mounted

Just watched your video here in pa its winter ! I'm going to look into these bunks ! Seems so much easier! I also have a 2008 nitro! Looks like the same trailer you had ! I know you sold your boat ! But you were very satisfied with this product correct ? Thanks man good luck fishing ! Stay safe !

This is great. I have been struggling to replace my old bunks for months, I am really excited about this Tuff Bunks, its coating outside is soft and it doesn't scratch the bottom of the boat right?

I sold my boat about a month ago but when I was underneath cleaning her up, I didn’t see any marks that weren’t already there from the carpeted bunks in the area that would have slid across the rails before it was on the final resting spot on the trailer. The material like bed liner but softer. I believe the company was actually going to even improve the material but contact them for the specifics. I am not sponsored by them and paid for mine so this is my honest opinion on them. I would not hesitate to put them on the trailer of my new boat when it was time to replace

Does it make it slide off the trailer where you have to keep the hook on the boat so it doesn't slide off while backing down the ramp?

Not any different from carpeted. Where I left it hooked on steep ramps with the carpet, I do the same now. Most of the time it is unhooked; same with pulling it out

Looks like a good idea to replace the carpet problem. I'm curious though. Does your boat slide up on the bunks like before? I have a Tracker boat that needs to slide on and off of the bunks. Not sure this would work for me. Grateful for any info.

There is less friction, but I didn't notice a difference. I had a buddy who said, he thought it didn't slide off as much as carpet though. I would google the business and Gary is very helpful; he may have some info with regard to an aluminum boat

How can the boat slide on rubber? The idea of carpet is so the boat can slide. That is my question?

it does grip more than carpet, but once there is water on it, it slides without issue. I always would sink my bunk boards completely when loading my boat with carpet, I did the same with the tuff bunks before bringing it back up to my desired loading depth.

yes, it slides off easier than carpet and no issues putting it back on

Do they have any cushion at all? Seems like they would damage your hull over time. Yeah they are better than the rotted wood you had, but I just can't see that they protect your boat that much.

I recently sold my boat after having them in for 5 months and while cleaning the hull up I didn’t see any wear where the hull was visible after gliding over the rails. You could contact the company and probably get some longer test information. The guy I sold the boat to likes the way it comes off and stays on when loading.

Is your boat a fiberglass hull? My Fourwinns is a fiberglass hull and I am interested to know how these bunks work with a fiberglass hull.I need to replace my bunks and I am very interested in these Tuff Bunks. Thanks!

Hi and thank u for your follow up. I see that you sold your boat however I still have a question that I hope you can answer for me? I've have more of an issue loading my boat and wanted to find a product that was a bit slipperier so it would slide into position easier

Hi, Kind of weird; I thought it slid on easier, but a friend that used my boat a lot said he liked that it stuck in place and then was easy to adjust it up. I know they changed the design since mine, so look at the video that the owner did (should pop up be searching tuff bunk) and send him a message. He’s very easy to talk to and informative. I have a friend getting them installed this weekend with the new design and I will see what he thinks and reply

I am not familiar with Fiberglass boards (if you mean bunks) but I would say that anything that uses carpet could be replaced with this. I was at a tournament this weekend and spoke to another guy who's had a similar bunk to mine and he said he's had them for over a year, with no issues

I had a bunch of scuffs and scratches from the carpeted bunks, but don’t see anything new. Honestly, there were a lot from before so I’m just going by what I can see with the boat on the trailer. The bunks age starting to settle in just the like carpet does and the edges are rounding down too.
