Show a video of working with different monk cloth/tufting fabric! I’m curious to see how they differ as far as tension and quality for the finished product! Thanks💚
It’s crazy, but I watched a video where a “needle punch” person (tufting by hand vs machine) said that painters drop cloth also works. I don’t have my gun yet. (I get it Feb 1st). Could you try it? I’ll Venmo you the cost just to save me time and future money. lol I wonder how forgiving it is if you make a mistake and have to pull it out. ?
I want to make some rugs, for fun and for business, but I'm afraid about copyrights, I love cartoons and videogames and I want to make some rugs of my favorite cartoons but I don't know if I need a license or how does it work, or if it's legal. How you do it? Any advise? It would be much appreciated. Thanks
@@Pmgc91 if you make it yourself it doesn’t matter.. if you were making thousands of Pokémon rugs and selling them for lots of money it might raise some flags but just for hobby nobody’s gonna come knocking on your door lol
I just came across these rug tufting stuff yesterday and I can honestly say I fell in love with it I'm kind of a creative guy I love to draw I love anything that has to do with art so I made up my mind and I am going to try this I am going to purchase a gun monk cloth and yarn of course and try my hand in it I'm excited to make my first rug
Thanks for posting this great video, I’ve been wanting to get involved with this for a while, your attitude has made me think I should give it a try. I’m going to binge watch some of your videos and give this a try.
Hi! I love a lot your works and your info it is super helpful. I got one question, I am looking to create rugs with proposal, and it is to clean climbing shoes from dust and dirt ( with shoes weared ) when you are in the mountain, sometimes you need this... So my question is about how hard it can be the tufting material, it is better if is some hard material like nylon or hemp or similar... It is posible to rug with these materials? Thanks a lot for your videos!!
You should organize a buyers club in your area. All the big box hobby stores have some sort of allowance for wholesale purchases . You have to figure it out and upon doing so you might lower your yarn costs in a noticeable way.
Hey I am doin mat also but I am usein glue if intrested i cud sen some pictures what I wanted to no is the edges of the cloth what do u use to stick it to the wood
What settings do you keep your cut/loop pile gun at? I know there are a couple things that can be adjusted on the gun but I haven’t messed around with mine
I have a question i just brought all the equipment to get started and i wanna know isn’t my yarn going through the monks cloth leaving holes in it is it because my cloth to loose?
Sarah2ill just posted a video about making rugs and now this video pops up in my feed. I died when I saw that Lord Quas rug, dude! This makes me so intrigued.
What do I use for backing? Like after I put the glue on. What fabric? I know it’s sounds like a dumb question but when I was at Joanna I had no clue what I should use
Try Walmart for yarn and Micheal’s they are are more cheaper I crochet so those are the places I go to Walmart does have a lot of options but they have the basic colors but Micheal’s has a bigger selection oh and also Hobby Lobby has a big selection and is decently priced
Wjere van u get a tufting gun for a lot cheaper like ebay or alibaba, also do u have to use yarn? What kind of clothe?? Im lost Check out Alibaba definetly if your going to upscale..
Walmart carries a lot of Red Heart yarn (which is usually the best bang for your buck, at least at Joann’s) BUUUUUUT Walmart’s brand Mainstays has a line of acrylic yarn that is even cheaper and in a decent range of colors!
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE OR TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND A MANUAL FOR THE RUG GUN YOU HAVE. I HAVE THE SAME ONE, DIDN'T GET DIRECTIONS & I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE MY CUT/LOOP NEEDLES APART. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP, YOU CAN GIVE. YOU'RE THE REASON WHY I BOUGHT A RUG GUN.
What’s the difference between loop and cut pile guns? Please make a video of the process of making a rug and different things that you have to do. Any tips and tricks you’ve learned thrown in
I'm starting with tufting, currently with punch needle and I'm about to buy tufting gun, how do you calculate the price of your piece rugs? your answer would be incredible. great job, thanks
Go by the amount of supplies you use and the time you’ll spend on a piece. Cost of how much yarn you use is a hood start always and time is how ever much you feel your time is worth
Thanks! I haven't used Wool yet I'll give it a try soon and i'll make sure to make a comparison video! My yarn says size 4 medium on the label hope it helps. Ill try to do a more in depth video about the yarn i use asap.
My biggest issue right now is learning the techniques to get a rug looking as clean as yours could you show your trimming process your details are so cleaned and defined
@@maxmurray509 Thanks really appreciate it! I'll make a more in depth video on tips for detailed designs asap. Make sure to subscribe to not miss out on it.
Hi! I have a question :) I bought Roberts 3085 glue (i think it’s similar to the Roberts glue you mentioned) to apply on the back of the rug and secure de yarn, do you think I can use that glue again to put the fabric on the back? Like it would stick ok? Thank you! :)
Thats a good question. Im going to definitely make a video on what and what not to do when cleaning them. Thanks for the idea! Make sure to subscribe to not miss that video.
I use 2 yarns but i also use 1. I will do a video on using more than 1 strand of yarn to see what the difference are because i dont know too much either.
he does photoshop, so he'll create them if he has to. often there is clip art that can used or modified. beyond that it's probably copyright infringement, which most crafts people seem to utterly care less about.
Hi bro, what is the best size yarn for tufting gun? I've seen many types of yarn, from 2 ply to 8 ply. So idk which one to buy as there's no Red Heart yarn here in my country. Thanks!
define 'worry.' i used to own a t-shirt shop, so it's the same issue there. we, the ex and i, had a legit brick and mortar shop, it wasn't some here-today-gone-tomorrow garage scheme, and we never advertised anything that had a copyright on it, and in fact had turned down a lot of business from people asking us to certain things, mostly NFL or buckeyes (we're in ohio). don't do it and you have nothing to worry about. if you do it and get the copyright owner's attention, the chances are you'd get a cease and desist warning you to stop and that'll be the end of it. they don't have to do that, though, it's just a pure courtesy as they can flat-out just sue you for damages if they want. if you do it as a commission piece, it's still IP infringement, but the odds of being noticed are incredibly small. don't make a thousand of them and blatantly advertise them and you're apt to get away with it. just bear in mind it's something you're getting away with, you have absolutely zero legal, moral, or ethical ground to stand on, you're doing it because you plan on profiting from someone else's rightful ownership. some companies are more prone to look the other way, others will jump your back pretty quick (some estates are very litigious). even if it's a gift, it's still technically copyright infringement. in real life no one is realistically going to get popped over that, but if you're the type of person who frets over ridiculous odds -- just not the fact you're breaking the law, lol -- you're likely to get away with it. but, if no one committed IP infringement i doubt etsy would even exist....
Dont know what this one material is called but i do know there is something out there. I will now do a video on using a Non Slip backing. Thanks for the idea! Make sure to subscribe to not miss out on it.
So if I have a rug that’s meant to be hung on a wall should I put only the rug backing glue. I’ve hear for cheap you can Elmer's glue is that a horrible idea lol? Also would Velcro be good for hanging it on the wall?
Yeah i have heard people use elmers glue ive never tried it but sound like a video i can do a test on. I've never hung a rug, ill test out techniques and once i find something that works ill do a video on that!
i've seen vids where, from what i gather, the only time you'd even really consider elmer's is for a wall hanger. it's not the strongest of glues, it dries hard and will crack if bent, i think. if you google it, velcro should work fine for hanging your rug.
Not 100% sure what it fabric it is but i bought it at Joanns. Next time i go ill make sure to make a video and show you guys. Subscribe for when i post that vid.
Does the glue you got from amazon have a strong smell??? Like does it smell like harsh chemicals. I have used some carpet adhesive for a hand tufted rug I think the brand was Henry. I wonder if I should buy a different kind but I also want to use up what I bought so idk.
my understanding is it's all pretty awful. it's also not good for your health, so a real respirator is a good investment. unless you use elmer's glue which isn't toxic.
