Now known as the "John Purves" the old "Butterfield" is seen on display at the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. I was able to tour the tug and I have to say that this was one of the best tours that I have ever been on! Our Tour Guide (The Docent) had an excellent knowledge of the tug, and tug operations, and with good humor, he reviewed not just the boat, but the related histories in people, places, and time. What was really neat was the amount of space down in the engine room. Pull out the engines and you could set up a basketball court! The tour ranged from the deck, to the engine room, to the crew quarters, as well as the galley and the bridge. The John Purves is docked next to the Historic Michigan Street bridge and this is a very photogenic ship in a photogenic location. If you get up to Door County, it is well worth the small admission fee to visit the Museum as well as the tug!
