Awesome video! I love that hike (I'm from South Africa), the waterfall looks VERY different in the rainy season. Depending on your fitness, it is possible to hike up very close to the bottom of the falls as well.
We are having a class reunion in SA in January after 50 years. One of the class mates suggested we hike at the Tugela falls. We will be coming from Melbourne. We are all 67-68 years old. Even though my husband and I are avid hikers, looking at the falls er… I don’t know 😅
As a South African, I've been up there a few times, because it is the easiest & fastest hike to the top of the escarpment...there are several other peaks & hikes too in the Drakensberg range eg. Cathedral Peak, Champaign Castle, Giants Castle, Injasuthi, Rhino Horn etc. It is truly breathtaking, the air is crisp & the mountain water pure & drinkable...Thanks só much!!! The view across from the Tugela Falls is called "The Devil's Tooth"...lol. There are also Eagles & Bearded Vultures to see. The little hotel (Witsieshoek) is amazing!!!
