(6B638/BLX638) 27k rated engines, what an amazing ride! What can I say? My dream came true! Just a few days ago I had the honor of being allowed to sit in the jump seat of the Boeing 737-800 for around 5 full hours, I would like to give a huge huge thank you to the Captain and First Officer, as well as the cabin crew for this experience. If you do end up reading this, it means the world to me!
Onto the details, this was a charter from Lanzarote (ACE) to Gardermoen (OSL) and the flight time was to be around 4h 55m. We arrived around 30 minutes ahead of time. The departure was the VASTO2M from runway 03. In the video you'll be able to observe the pushback, start up, taxi, and a non-engine bleed takeoff. This was one of the most humbling experiences of my life seeing as this is my dream, and I'm very pleased to be able to share it here on RU-vid!
Airline: TUI Fly Nordic (Star Tour/TUI Charter)
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800 (retro fitted winglets) (SE-DZN)
Airport: Lanzarote (ACE/GCRR)
Runway: 03
Flight Number: BLX638
Camera: 550D
Lens: 18-55mm Kit Lens
NOTE: Do not re-upload, replicate, or use any of the video/AUDIO content in this video without my WRITTEN permission. If I find one up, I will get it taken down.

I thinks it is amazing how close flight simulators come to reality today. The sound of the gear coming up, the trim wheels, knob sound, everything is so super accurate now that I hear how it actually sounds.

Man! If I remember myself at the old, and still flying, 737-300 and 400s. With the NGs, when they activate the Engine BUS Tie Switsches, you only hear the Switch itself and nothing else. The displays don`t even flicker. Not even slightly. In the 737-300 and 400s, and of course some others, when you press these two, it almost bangs behind you and all the lights and displays perform a light show. Really awesome to see, how they overhauled everything.

Hello, thank you for your kind comment! You must first switch GEN 1, and 2 on after Engine start. These are the 2 switches on the outer side of the APU gen switches. Make sure those GEN switches are on before you switch off the APU, thus you'll be running on the generator power from the engines.

Hello! Hope you had a nice flight. The pilot knows when to "rotate" due to pre-calculated speeds that are based on the TOW, outside air temperature, runway length and so on. These speeds are in the FMC and are displayed on the PFD as V1, VR (Rotate) and V2. You can google to find more detail on the V-speeds. He knows he is steering straight due to the artificial horizon on his displays. The noise you are referring to is the trim wheel, trimming the pitch of the aircraft for easier flying.

generally and most often, it will be, but... occasionally, after entering all the pertinent data into the FMS ie; aircraft weight, outside temp, runway length, along with some other factors, our thrust settings can end up being 'just over 100%, every now and then. this is a derived value based on 'how the computer' views our thrust-to-weight ratio ( again, along with some other things...) and spit's out what IT see's as, 'necessary' to safely get us airborne, and climbing away. :)

Hey! When you board the aircraft, ask the cabin crew if it's possible to have a chat with the pilots, then you can ask them once you're in the flightdeck! Scandinavia are really easy going with the jumpseats, so there's a high chance they'll let you!

Hey, the reason for the bump was the short runway, the climb gradient, the high amount of PAX along with cargo, then of course the 20.3 (if I recall) fuel on board to get us back to OSLO, which is a 5 hour journey!

Hello, All companies should use RTO. It is called "Rejected Take-off" for the auto-break selector, it means if there is a reduction in thrust on the takeoff, the autobreak will automatically force the aircraft to a stop as quick as it can.

Asked, I've been on a lot of flights and I've asked a lot of times.. I've gotten a no so many times I usually don't bother actually asking, but this time I got very lucky. Since I had the same captain on the return leg as the leg down to Lanzarote, he said I could sit in the jumpseat on the way back if he was flying the equipment. I can't say I've ran into many airlines/pilots that have the same attitude though, which is understandable! My advice, never stop asking, worst that can happen is a no

Hi, i'm an Air Traffic Controller and aspiring musician from Ireland. I've just completed an instrumental electronic piece of soundtrack, the tracks of which are all to do with aviation. Would it be possible to use a few seconds of footage from your awesome video on an accompanying video that i would be using as background during live performances and maybe as part of a compilation on a youtube video? Naturally, full credit would be given to your work and if there are any sections you wouldn't want used, i'd fully understand. Thanks for your time , Michael.

The FO turns the Packs off to maximize thrust to the engines, but why did he shut them off so early? They weren't even halfway done with taxiiing and he shuts off airflow into the cabin. Why didn't he shut them off during line-up?
@speedbird8326
@speedbird8326 7 лет назад
The pressurization system is getting its bleed air from the APU. Have a close look at the APU bleed air switch position as he is turning off the engine bleeds. One then re-configures the bleed air system after take-off.

What was the reason for having the APU running while take off and taking the bleed from APU but not the engines? That woudl greatly interest me.
@coltoncollingwood9508
@coltoncollingwood9508 8 лет назад
+bljabl On take off the engines need all the power possible so you would either take bleed air from the APU or you temporary not run systems like enviromental control and other systems that need bleed air, when flying do you ever notice that on takeoff those air blowers above your seat seem to stop working on take off, that is why.
@winstonbabyone
@winstonbabyone 11 лет назад
Quite possibly an ETOPS (extended Operations) flight, which would require that the APU stay running until the flight travels to within 1 hour of the nearest airport. just guessing, though!

How much can the pilot manually touch when flying? What would happen if you just dived straight into the steering wheel(?) mid air?
@J.Stein1
@J.Stein1 6 лет назад
Yep In manual mode, you've got the controls of the thrust and the flightcontrols. If you dive straight into the steering wheel (it is called yoke, or sidestick in an Airbus), the plane will of course descent rapidly. But there is a second crew member who could take over if such a case ever is going to happen. ;)

hey hey hold on now... why did they not test the thrust? ya know hold the brake and spool up the engines. #2 do you really need to make the crunch crack crack sound with your camera? #3 can a 747 fly at its normal altitude (this plane to be exact) if the two outer engines stop working, could it stay at its assinged altitude with the weight it currently had and i think it was set for 40,000 feet? maybe i seen the autopilot wrong
@MoSs.
@MoSs. 7 лет назад
are u trolling or just plain stupid? this is a 737-800 only 2 engines, and a/p was set to 4000 initially then at 12000ft, cabin was set at 37000 so i assume that would be their cruising alt
@kj4ilk
@kj4ilk 7 лет назад
oh no im asking if that is standard for all planes or not... i would imagine they at least used the spoilers
@MoSs.
@MoSs. 7 лет назад
they used flaps, spoilers are used for "air braking" usually. flaps extend downwards and also increase lift, spoilers extend upwards and increase drag (like an air brake)
@kj4ilk
@kj4ilk 7 лет назад
so then probably anywhere from 30 degrees to 50 degrees setting to make the landing work
@makecba
@makecba 7 лет назад
when they spool up the engines with the brakes applied they're not "testing thrust" but preventing compressor surge. It's pretty useless in modern FADEC engines since the computer sorts it all out to prevent dangerous engine handling by the pilot, plus they're at sea level, so surge chances are almost zero.
@gborch

The auto throttle and autopilot are two different systems so if you disconnect the Autopilot, the auto throttle stays on and vice versa.
