It's so lovely to hear different great versions of great songs. The new perspective often re-awakens the emotions you had when first hearing the original, and you're being reminded how great in fact the song is! Not that you didn't know already, but the years passing by make you take the best songs for granted.
ladies and gentleman, we are now close to the end of our show. this is a little istrument which makes great music. then he explains a project of a friend who plays & learns ukulele with children. The money for the ticket will be used for this project. It was a honor to play in st. pauli. (well, thats a short version of what he said)
The audience was particularly moved a project where Israeli and Palestinian children and learning to play the uke together .. the tickets for the show were helping to fund the project
You mean English-only speakers, I guess. It's not very difficult German if you have the basics of the language. Adding a bit of humour at the end the guy says (paraphrased) "we'd like to end the show with something light and simple, so we shall now sing this ancient, traditional song ..."
@@michealobanaghan4220 German isn't taught in UK schools as a second language until people are taught French to a component level. Therefore many Brits don't have a basic knowledge of German, I don't know if this is the same in other English language schools, but I suspect many American schools learn Spanish before they learn other languages. I appreciate English is a Germanic based language, and share many common root words, but not enough to make it understandable to people without being taught the basics of German.
@@dieIgeline Do you imagine that everyone of us have 3 minutes to sit and plow through unintelligible speech? Times how many times here on RU-vid? It's not classless to jump to the important part that we see them exercise their musical skills. Have some class yourself and don't assume Steve didn't listen to it all, I did, yet, many will click off at 1 minute in because of their own tastes and miss this brilliant interpretation on the Ukulele.
What happened...? Has the orchestra broken up? Mind you these folks were good as well but I'm not in love with these two new ladies. I AM working on it.
seanmoyes.. Sean. No conning ..I made the same mistake. They are the Uke. Orchestra of UK not GB. Different outfit. How's your banjo playing? By now, it must have moved from brilliant to virtuoso! Hoped to play with you somehow in UK but our paths never met. (Jazz saxes... Alto, Tenor, Bari, clrt.) Bottom's dropped out of the market now thanks to Corona. Your's in Jazz. Midlands and Northern England jazz circuit. Mauriat Otto Link.
First of all, I love this group. Secondly, I thought that Christians who like this song might be interested in the Bethlehemian Rhapsody (with lyrics) here on you tube.
A judge agreed with you and ordered the band to not perform as The United Kingdom Ukulele Orchestra. The name was changed to TUKUO ,THE UNIQUE KOMEDY UKULELE ORCHESTRA de.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_Ukulele_Orchestra ( use the translate option)
As an Englishman living in Germany you get used to sloppy pronunciation of English lyrics. But this is in a (low) class of its own. On the other hand, we were warned - the ageing extrovert goon said we would have trouble following. We did. And too much blah blah before the event is so German. Fass Dich kurz, verdammt!
TheScunneredMan Och awa Mon.. Yer fair scunnered awricht.. Yer could'nae tell the difference 'tween a note an' a koo's errse. Ah reckon ya tak yer dram neet! Scunnert? Och awa Mon. Yer bloody foo!
@@MauriatOttolink one of the things this song is known for is the iconic guitar solo. They didn't play it. I was saying what is the point in playing a mediocre version of the song if you're not even going to attempt the guitar solo?
This is so sad, a total ripoff of the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain (the original and best, established mid eighties) and just an attempt to cash in on their hard work and success. The cynicism of using a .co.uk comain for their website is also pretty disappointing. These people do not deserve our support.
The world is full of people generally playing the same stuff. This is a ripoff of a specific act and a blatant attempt to cash in on someone else's name and reputation.
Indeed, why use a .co.uk address if there was no intent to deceive? well, www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/IPEC/2015/1772.html For those that don't want to read it all, the REAL ukulele orchestra of Great Britain sued them and won.......
James mcleesh. There was nothing wrong .. Brilliant Musicians, especially that astounding soprano!. Good Grief! "Total mess"..Huh. Shows what you know. They can't make a a carbon copy like a recording, bloody idiot. However, I share your wondering where UKUO was. Not a single soul, Why? Was the audience not aware of the changes? Was the well known assembly of players actually aware? Again why?
@@japio8955 I haven't the faintest clue, nor do I want to. It is a constant fight for me to contain my overwhelming indifference. Your passionate enthusiasm for some non- entities speaks volumes for your intelligence, education and musical taste/awareness. Maybe I could make a tiny concession in your direction and ask "Who The Fuck Are They?" and secondly...if I heard them, would they clear this debilitating constipation which plagues me?
