Tullibardine’s Signature Single Malt has been matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon Barrels.
The Sovereign is beautifully golden with its floral, sweet barley notes and subtle hints of vanilla.
On the finish there is fudge, pear drops and soft spice.

You have become my main whisky uk reviewer from today as your the only one that does not talk bollox for the sake of it !!! Plus you give prices over etc and many do not . Long story short ,I like the cut of your jib . I need a extra cheap bottle over Christmas and I think this will do , just incase. Keep it up and be lucky.

I'm sipping out of Vero Beach, Florida and haven't had a chance to try this distillery until now. Picked up a bottle of Tullibardine Artisan for 30 US and found it very good for that price . Looking forward to some of the other offerings

Had the Tullabardine 228 and I was not taken with it. Youthful astringency and a weird sour green fruit note. It's going to take one hell of a good counter-example to get me to come back to their range. Glad you found enjoyment in some of their stuff, though. Cheers, Vin! The 225 and 228 were my least favourite for sure. If you can, try the 500. If you don't like that then you'll not find much joy in the rest of the range. Nice to hear I'm being discussed! I also like Gwhisky's stuff!

I tried Sovereign for the first time recently too. Probably like most people I've never been blown away by Tullibardine. And I think part of the reason why I've overlooked it is because I've tended to associate it with Tamnavulin (it's that T section!) as a low strength blend filler that sells for too much money in supermarkets. I was pleasantly surprised though. While it's still a youngish blendy single malt... the extra 3% makes a huge difference and it's a step up from stuff like Tamnavulin Double Cask. Overpriced at a high 30s price point as you say but well worth the £25 it often sells for.

I think the 43% is the real selling point here (although 46% would have been better, no surprises there). For £25, there aren't a huge amount of bottles above 40

Yes it's definitely one that I've overlooked as there always a more interesting option at that price point! It's also regularly overlooked at whisky auctions with the 25yr selling around £120 and I've just picked up the 20yr for only £68 at auction. A good distillery if you want some good aged whisky in your collection 🥃👍

I too like to try before I buy (not that that is always possible...) and was quite pleasantly surprised by the Tullibardine Sovereign at Usquabae in Edinburgh (pre-pandemic), so it was an obvious purchase when Sainsbury's had it reduced to £25.

It's great for £24 with Sainsbury's nectar card .. certainly a step up from the likes of Jura or a Nas Glenlivet

Maybe a tad, although this has the benefit of a higher ABV, first fill casks and no added colour. So it trumps it on most accounts

@@NoNonsenseWhisky Unfortunately no, especially in this days when EU and UK trading is burdened with recent events in Europe, I don't think that this product will be available in my market before this fall.

It's 43% not awful but not great. It's worth a pop for the right price but the 500 is significantly better

There’s one in the US called the Artisan which is basically looks the same. Any idea what the difference is?

I'd not heard of that one before! But yeah it does sound like it's basically the same as the Sovereign. And nice and cheap by the looks of it

@@NoNonsenseWhisky yeah it’s around $30 USD. Says it’s bourbon matured and is NAS. I’m not even sure it’s not almost the same thing, details seem similar
