I'm not even close to being Yiddish but I learned this song in grade school. Now thinking about it, the principal, vice principal and many below were Jewish. The song I learned was in English and it stuck in my head forever.
If poetry were never translated, it would never be accessible. It may never mean exactly the same as originally, but it can still be close enough to have a positive effect on someone. Hope you have a good day
@@birbgorl Poetry isn't translated it's interpreted and the interpretation is only as good as the talent of interpreter. After looking for a good English version I came back to an Yiddish version with English subtitles. If you have other versions beside this one please share:)
@@stnln2180 It has to be translated before it can be interpreted bro. If you don't understand the language, how can you interpret what the words mean? I agree it takes talent to do so, but you've gotta have something to work with, you know?
