They are easy to grow and very low cost! I would also like to thank everyone for all your tips and teaching of things we didn't know about when it comes to different techniques you have, it really is a wonderful community we have here, and your sharing of your experiences means the world to us! I hope you enjoy the video and try a few Tumbling Toms of your own!

Tumbling Toms are great. I call them “snack plants”. I hang them where I will remember to water them and where I walk around my garage, house and barn. I pick a few as a walk by them to eat lol.

Great video, thanks. I always use the Jiffy Pods to start off all my seeds, tomatos, marigolds, basil etc., as they have good, fine graded starter soil, in them. With tiny seeds, this makes them much easier to plant. However, at transplant time, I always remove the netting to free the roots. I just use a pair of scissors and carefully snip down on opposite sides and peel the netting away. The Jiffy Pods are a bit pricey where I live, but I found a place that sells them in bulk and that brings the price down considerably.

I've used the peat pellets a few times now, have had good luck with them as far as transplanting them. Some I removed the mesh some I didn't, didn't find much if any difference. I also never had the problem of the seeds popping out when watering them, thought that was odd that you did. However, there have been seeds that ended up too deep in the peat to sprout. Fell right down the hole, dang little suckers, a good tip to using them is to fill the hole in and then planting in it.

I just saw a vlog where a gardener took his old tomato cages and set his hanging baskets in those and plunked them into flower beds because he didn't have room to hang them everywhere, looks really nice when they grow down. Do you have cats to help with mice and moles. My biggest problem last year was some varmint took one bite out of every tomato when we went camping for a weekend. One gardener uses netting from a fabric shop and wraps her tomato plants in those. The material sold for $1.00 yard. I'm going that way this year......and the netting is reuseable.

@billb945
@billb945 5 лет назад
One per pot makes more sense, but unfortunately it's not what people buy. Then they die because they can't keep up with the watering. I grew a bunch last year and found one cubic foot of soil per plant I could get away with watering just once per day. But on the real hot days they'd be pretty dry by watering time. Amazing tomato though for keeping, we still have a yellow one on a window sill from last year. STill looks like it was picked yesterday.
@Tiger-fv3nl
@Tiger-fv3nl 5 лет назад
@@billb945 Not what people want to buy? I sold 25 in 30 min last week, got another 30 going out the door monday and if i had more plants i would be planting more. I havent had issues with people complaining. You should just explain to people that having three plants of that size in a 12-inch basket does not work well without a lot of attention especially in hot climates were you almost have to have constant water on it. We have trouble sometimes with one plant per basket drying out

It's actually not a dumb question at all. The bottom of the basket has large holes so the liner helps keep soil from escaping but still allows drainage.
