Tumwater awarded grant to assess cleanup needs at former Olympia Brewery

Barely 20 years after the Olympia Brewery produced its last drop, Tumwater city leaders are toasting the federal government.
The Environmental Protection Agency awarded the city a $500,000 grant to assess potential environmental cleanup concerns on the property.
”This will make a huge difference,” said Tumwater Mayor Debbie Sullivan.

I would love to see thew Olympia Brewery renovated, we let too many of our historic buildings just fall into ruin and then bulldoze them down.

and then funnily enough plans for luxury condos and apartments on the location are always conveniently already drawn up for some reason🤔

We used to live in Olympia and at the end of the free brewery tours, you could enjoy up to 3 glasses of their draft beer. Of course out of town friends and relatives always got taken to “the brewery” for a tour!

Bulldoze the majority of the Brewery. Save the tower and maybe a few other buildings. Turn them into condos, put in a park and some shops and restaurants. Just like at The Landing in Renton and Kent Station...in Kent. Problem solved right there.

If they can sell half million dollar condos in downtown Oly, with all the issues downtown Oly has, they could certainly sell them at the old brewery site.
