I have only just discovered you. Wow.wow.wow. That was FULL of FEELING. Melodion players are very special as they feel the music more. I just love listening, learning and watching you play. I have just today bought my GC Hohner poker dot thing Melodian. SOHHH chuffed. It came with three volumes of expensive tutor books thrown in. I have hacked out a tune already!!! I just LOVE it. I think my Hohner 120 bass accordion will be put to bed now. I have discovered something that appeals more to me . The " feel" of it and the discords. I did not realise you had done so many vids. I am going through them one by one. You are brilliant. Are you Aussie?
Wow back atcha Peter! 😆 I love my G/C; I think you'll have super-duper fun with it 🎶 Thank you for your lovely comments! 🙏 Aussie? 🤔 No, English... Stoke-on-Trent!🏺😆
Tina Weymouth observed that bands which covered Talking Heads reproduced her 'mistakes': never mind duff notes, keep the flow and they become (arguably the best) part of the show.
At least none of them made the mistake of joining Talking Heads !"£$%^&*()_++_)(*&^%$£"! P.S. She did have a Fender Musicmaster though, so she can't have been that bad ( or rich ....... ) .
@@lis_jo_mcd858 puts a smile on the listener's face though! On a technical note - is there a reason you use the Baffetti for Domesday rather than the Hohner?
@@andyduckering8731 yep there absolutely is: less effort! 😂 I love the hohner sound, but the dino is kinder to my wrist & shoulders; I'd happily play the hohner for Domesday (& still do on occasion) but I find the dino so much easier on the joints, especially if it's a long day of 🎶. In other words, I'm getting old! 😂
@@lis_jo_mcd858 thank you! The Hohner makes "that" noise (you know the one!) which is very attractive but an uncomfortable box isn't something I'd want.
"ish" is right. It's a corner dance, and so the chorus ("B" tune) should be played three times - not twice. Also, you missed out the "slows", or capers, in the 3rd and 4th choruses. If you are going to post a video of yourself playing a morris tune, I would have thought it might be a good idea to get it right.
Yes, I know I'm being picky, but I have played for five morris clubs in my time, and I think it might be granted that I know what I'm talking about. JJ
@@jonathanjeffreys3007 Hi Jonathan, I don't doubt that you do! It's not intended to be anything other than my amateur contribution to the Tunesday Tuesday group on Facebook. I would never claim to play anything 'right', as I don't read music so what I play is how my ears interpret it. I'm also not a Cotswold side musician. From a melodeon-playing point of view I love hearing how different people play; hopefully some folks will find something of interest in mine🤞.
@@lis_jo_mcd858 I withdraw previous comments. I totally get what you are doing, and it's nice that you are interested enough to play a good old morris tune. I love your use of basses, which sounds as if you have studied music theory, although, if you don't read music (and many of the most accomplished folk musicians that I know also don't read "the dots"), this must be instinctive - which is enviably clever. Please keep going, and ignore fault-finding remarks!
