It's so nice that as the crop of guitarists that started playing in the 70's and 80's are maturing and changing their tastes away from the overcomplicated ganiac amps of the 80's and 90's and back to these very simple, pure amps. With an amp like this, as opposed to a hot-rod Bogner (for example), the guitar that you use and your touch really make a difference in the sound, and you have to be a good player to sound good. No multi-cascaded gain stages to hide behind. Great job as always, GregV.
To stay on top of my game all these years of playing metal thru my marshalls i pratice without pluging in to an amp on my prs so i could really hear what i sounded like all that gain is only so good youre right many guys hide behind the high gain amps so youre point is right on ps i have little fender amps to ha ha cheers mate
Well, this is the first time that I ever ordered an amp without playing one myself:) But after listening to this demo, the #2 demo and talking to Adam at Tungsten I did it. I ordered the Mosaic MKII with the 12" Tungsten/Weber T12Q . I'm psyched! Adam is a great down to earth guy and a well respected tone guru/builder.
@rtmilster The guitars volume was turned up full. It's a very touch sensitive, dynamic circuit that responds well to volume changes and all pickup types really well.
Greg, I love your guitar playing; an inspiring blend of virtuosity and taste. How do you feel the Tungsten Mosaics 8" and 12" compare to the Swart Space Tone Atom and STR Tweed as a recording/possibly jazz-volume gigging amps. I'm currently leaning towards the Swarts (amazing reverb being no small factor) but this demo caught my ear and being able to have more wattage and 12" speaker for less money is inticing as well. Any sagely advice? Thanks and kudos, Jesse
Really interested in the Mosaic, but wondering if I should go 8" or 12" speaker... Any thoughts on this for the overdriven tones? My favorite tone in the video was the Tele crunch. Looking for an articulate, smooth crunch sound with lots of overtones. Hoping I can crank this guy up to a good crunch without getting too ratty. A little sag and fur is great, though.
@DazziDedazu Thank you! IMO, both the Tungsten and Swart amps are killer, super musical and inspiring. I've not played a STR for very long but really liked it. For lower volume either of these amps would be a possible option (for my approach) but you'd really need to plug in yourself to see.
@GregVmusic Hi Greg! You are a fantastic guitarist! I have an answer for you...what's the name of the pickups mounted on the Hamer Talladega? Thank you Greg!
Greg, have you had the chance to plug into a Mosaic MK2? I plan on picking up a MK2 soon and wonder if It has a similar tone? Enough headroom to mic in a band setting?
@GregVmusic Hey thanks for the advice but actually I think I've decided to save the extra dough and grab an AST. I'm usually not that kinda guy but I'm rapidly becoming a Swart fanboy.
