Tuning hemi engine timing, and where to start. Please keep in mind most hemi engines make the most power under 22 degrees of timing. We sell tuning and tuning devices on our website at www.recklesstx.com
WOW. I'm a BMW guy and really me "engine-feelings" for HEMI was useless. This engines behave completely different. THank you for helping me out to understand more about the HEMIs.
Good video man! I have been learning to tune. A little more detail or follow through would be cool, but your doing a good job. Maybe some logs, and showing some editing of the files from the logs would help, but with my basic knowledge of HP tuners and what I have learned so far, I can follow what your saying. Which would you say is harder to tune in general GM or Dodge? Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Can this tuner disable the MDS system on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT? I was getting p3425 and p3441 cylinder deactivation errors so I replaced all 4 MDS solenoids with the all-metal ones from Dorman. Now the error is just p3497 bank 2 deactivation failure. It might need an oil change, but if that fails, I need to get this truck inspected and it will fail until I can clear this error condition.
Good day. Really appreciate the info. Doing a swap on my Ram 2500 from a 5.7 to a 6.4. Going to be using an OEM non-mds SRT cam. Should I stick with this and with a tune will be nice upgrade from stock truck cam. Or will I lose power. Any thought would be appreciated and possibly if it’s worth stepping up to maybe an FRP VVT Mark 82 Cam. Cheers!
Would there be anyway I could shoot you my tune for my truck so I could get a good idea of where to start? I had received a tune last year from one of the big companies for Hemi tuning but it appears to be all kinds of jacked up
Hi, just getting into tuning my '14 5.7 Challenger and am studying your vids closely. Question: You're using your 5.7 truck's engine as your test bed. Is there a drastic diff between how Dodge tuned the 5.7 6-speed cars (mine has 3.92 gears), as compared to your setup? I'm beginning by logging my factory tune and want to add some timing in the cruise cells (.25 - .40g Aircharge @ ~1850RPM...depending on speed). Thanks for the videos!! Awesome info!!
I have a problem with the MAT temp. ECU is calculating over 190° MAT and even I zero out the hot spark table, now is losing the TB at the 1,000 foot mark at the track. How can I avoid closing TB? I found. Table aircharge- general Manifold temp- MAT blend factor. Is there anything at the MAT blend factor I need to fix?
Hi reckless. I'm trying to figure out what is wrong on my tune . I paid for a dyno tune and have had to go back into it and revise quite a few things. I have emissions in my state and have high flow cats and long tube headers. The exhaust is strong enough that it chokes you. It nasty like eye watering I'm at about 10-12 mpg I was kinda pissed that I had told the tunner that I was going to have to be emissions compliment and he removed cats rear O2 and put me into open loop at almost anything off idle. My state suspended my registration due to no inspection. Need to fix it can I get some help on this 20105.7 hemi Tsp stage 2 cam w/ long tube x pipe and full 3 in exhaust non mds and non vvt
hey so basically if i get hp tuners that comes with the adapter (sorry can’t remember the word lol) I can access the air/gas data? I bought performance injectors and coils, (comes with copy and paste data so i’m guessing in good to go after it’s pasted into the tuner? lmk guys
I am interested in disabling my MDS on my 2021 Chrysler 300 and my 2021 Dodge Durango and both have the 5.7 Hemi. I’m not interested in messing with any of the other tuning I just want to shut off the MDS can I do that with the HP tuner software that you have?
Well I have had mine tuned but it seems to lack timing in areas...I have HP tuner and new to tuning, I was told by the tuner he couldn't get it to take timing..?? I have a 2012 392 stroked to 430 with a comp cam 274, kooks 2 inch primary, green cats, edelbrock heads and intake with a 90mm TB.....would you be interested in looking at a log file?
@@Saavagerandy How did you make out with this, did you guys get it to take more timing ? just curious , not looking for a "tune" just wanting to know how you made out
So I decided to swap a non vvt cam on a vvt engine 5.7 and locked the phaser bought the car overheating so I rebuilt it due to a blown gasket pursuit charger 2012 (cam is from 2009 - 2015) ima try to tune it but any suggestions !
@@Saavagerandy I will contact u soon project is in pause. currently need to finish the exhaust I got long tube headers so I need to fabricate the pipes to plug o2. Should I leave cats or cut them out? it’s leagal pipes I can convert them to off-road !
Can you point me in the right direction on my 05 hemi c. I have an 05 300c. I got the engine rebuilt without the MDS. Stock cam. I have disabled the mds in the program. My problem is that my rpms rum at about 630 after it reaches running temp. How do I increase them to around 800 or so? I have the MPVI2.
Bro... The lowest non-tornadic atmospheric pressure ever measured was ), set on 12 October 1979, during Typhoon Tip in the western Pacific Ocean and the highest adjusted-to-sea level barometric pressure ever recorded on Earth 32.03 inHg measured in Tosontsengel, Mongolia on 19 December 2001... 32.03inHg= 108.466KPA that means the chart u are adding and taking timing based on KPA is only ranging between 85 ish and 110 ish meaning a very small part of the table actually matters
This might sound like a very dumb question but could one just look at the graph and just try and smooth out the slope of the powerband and call it a day? Is it a aid in hptuners software to try and prevent user error or do all the parameters need to be precise? Im just thinking about getting a hptuner mainly to do crank and cam relearns which im hopping you can do on dodge/chrysler vehicles but down the road would like to tune my vehicle. I want to learn how to tune myself however am thinking third party options such as hemifever or overkill or BOTH. I own a chrysler 200 with a pentastar so theres not a lot of info about it anywhere for tuning. Is it similar to the 5.7 hemis?
In theory yes if someone wanted to make a quick timing change and have it be basic and to the point I would add 3 degrees to the whole chart and then smooth it out. Then log and make sure we aren’t seeing any real kr. Trust me you’re better off watching this videos and learning then going to 90% of places that do hemis that are big name.
Excellent video. I was not aware that the PT table was referenced as well as the WOT table during full throttle pulls. Great information here. Thank you
