I think its pretty Karen to rent a property that wasn't cleaned and then get mad about YOUR property not working properly for the tenant who is paying for the use. Loose, hanging wires. Toilet running non stop. Guy is a slum lord.

I'd say the landlord is the nightmare, he nearly electrocuted a repairman, and illegally withheld over $1,000 of the tenant's money. He's a thief, and shouldn't be a landlord if he's going to steal from his tenants -- nightmare scam artist landlords need to be held responsible, they shouldn't just be fined double or triple what they illegally withheld, they should be put in prison for a few months, or assigned community service, just like anyone else who steals $1000 from someone.

Well usually when your paying 1700 a month for rent you would want it in great condition so I don’t think that’s too much to ask for, usually landlords try and rent crappy nasty places for too much.

I would want a freshly painted apt if it needed paint but you can bet it darn well better be clean because that's what the landlord wants when you move out.

It sucks I wish he did. They’ve probably never encountered a situation as such and never thought about it or looked it up unfortunately these court shows do help bring light to a lot of stuff I definitely room a lot of mental notes over the years

I know right, I really used to think it would be a good idea after retirement to have that extra income coming in or a good means of income without having to go out and work for someone else but seeing the stress that some tenants cause I am not so sure now....lol

I am a landlord. Have 2 properties in Orlando FL and 1 in Flint, MI. It is not difficult. You just have to choose your tenants wisely. With the rent I get my properties are already paid for. I spend a nominal amount to maintain the properties, and my tenants are great. They always pay on time, even in the midst of the pandemic. I am very blessed.

You're not "allowed" to live in someone else's home. It's your home, and you pay to live there. Do you pay his property taxes too? or is that too much d*ck to suck? Congrats on cleaning your house, I think most adults do that.
