TUNISIAN CROCHET Bamboo Stitch - How to Crochet Easy Tunisian Stitches Similar to Knitting
Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. In this video, I'll show you how to make a Tunisian Crochet stitch called the Bamboo Stitch. It's an easy textured stitch that is similar to the knitted bamboo stitch.
The pattern consists of a Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS) as well as a Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS). The horizontal bar is formed with a Yarn Over (YO) and a pass over with the yarn.
You can use any weight yarn and its corresponding Tunisian crochet hook with this pattern. Sometimes Tunisian Crochet hooks are also called Afghan hooks.
You can find more information on this pattern - including where to get the tool - at:

Ever try Tunisian Crochet before? In some ways it's easier than traditional crochet!

I agree with Clare Morley that Naztazia is really very good in giving instructions that's why me I only fellow her instructions and all her RU-vid instructions, she show it slowly and clearly, because other they will show you their work already halfway done and no beginning. That's why I love Naztazia RU-vid and I recommend her to everyone. Thank you n appreciate n love all your work Naztazia. Thank you again

I absolutely LOVE doing Tunisian Crochet so thank you Donna for showing us this new stitch. Your videos are the best....clear, concise and easy to follow. That is a beautiful stitch. Silly question, how would you do the last row to finish it off?
@naztazia
@naztazia Год назад
You can just end it on a return pass row, either Row 2's return pass or Row 3's return pass (whatever you like better). The return pass row is the one where you take off loops in groups of 2 and end up with just 1 loop remaining on your hook. Just fasten off that final loop and weave it in the back.

Inexpensive bargain bin "mill ends" stuff I find in the local craft places. Sometimes that supposed "junk" yarn that no one wants works the best for stitch samples!

Thank you posting. This is pretty! Does the back side look the same?
@naztazia

The front looks like the traditional knitted "knit stitch" (stockinette) with the horizontal wrap around it. And the back looks like the traditional knitted "purl stitch" (garter stitch) with the horizontal wrap.

@naztazia
@naztazia Год назад
They are called extended Tunisian crochet hooks, sometimes known as extended Afghan crochet hooks. You can see one in my Guide to Crochet Hooks video at about the 4 minute mark: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_cXRPUbV6Ro.html

This is probably a silly question but how do you create a blanket wide enough using this stitch? Thank you for your videos.
@naztazia
@naztazia 11 месяцев назад
They have Tunisian crochet hooks called Extended Tunisian Crochet hooks, which basically are a regular Tunisian hook with a flexible fishing wire tube coming out the other side where you slide the unused loops as you work. These types of hooks can hold hundreds and hundreds of stitches.

Iam wondering if the yarn she chose is a bamboo blend or maybe all cotton? I wishhe woukd just automatically give a yarn link in the notes section of the video.

I would like to ask what is the hook size that is ideal to use for tunisian crochet? I read that this stitch is good for sweaters, right? Thank you so much!
@destresswithyoga
@destresswithyoga Год назад
I use 2 full hook sizes up.
@thegammakat
@thegammakat Год назад
I am a bit cobfused when you say take off loops in groups of two as you iften eem to slip off only one loop at a time while doing two at a time in others. Its very likely that im missing something as the pattern comes out beautiful.

What sizes of needles should I get to start when I start this new Tunisian crocheting?
@naztazia
@naztazia Год назад
If you are just trying out Tunisian crochet, I would suggest trying out one 10" or 14" aluminum Tunisian hook (sometimes called Afghan hook) in like a size H if you use worsted weight (medium) #4 yarn. An I or J hook would work too. They have them usually at the local WMart stores if you are in the USA/Canada. If you end up liking Tunisian, it's best to go online and get a full Tunisian set with all the sizes.

How do you change colors in Tunisian crochet?
@naztazia
@naztazia Год назад
Before drawing through the last two loops of the return pass, either slip knot or just loop the new yarn around your hook and draw the new yarn through the last two loops.

You will need a Tunisian hook with a cord to put very many stitches on without crowding them. Look on Amazon for them. You might like them.
