@@birdybird222 I mean, yeah, it makes sense. Lithuanian is more conservative than Latgalian, so it's easier for conservative speaker to understand a modern speaker than the other way around. P. S. When I said I could almost understand it, I meant I still had to look at the translation, and then I would notice an awful lot of similarities which made it easier. I'd say it's more understandable than Latvian, it sounds like Samogitian speaking Latvian
All the best from Igaunija! Love the language! Both Estonia and Latvia have great south eastern languages Võro and Latgalian. It's so great to have them, not only some Riga or Tallinn standards. :)
As Eastern Lithuanian I understood it almost everything word for word, it sounds like someone had too much to drink and started to sing, hahaha! Much Love to Latvija and Latgole!
Im a Lithuanian and at first I was like this is a completly diffrent languege and I understand nothing , than I paused the screen a few times to read the words and I can understand them clearly
Viens no labākiem šīs dziesmas izpildījumiem. Dziesma ar romantisku saturu un kareivīgu muzikālo pavadījumu. Patiks visiem latviešiem, austrumu slāviem, rietumu slāviem un brāļiem lietuviešiem. Paldiesiņ. Lai sirdī prieks.👍👏🇺🇦🇦🇹👍👏💙💛👍🌷🌷🌷
Thank you very much, as a Czech I can confirm there are western slavs who love this song with full heart and many more songs from your beautiful country. Liels paldies.
@@1uys_69 2021. gada 1. jūlijā stājās spēkā Valsts prezidenta rosinātais un Saeimas apstiprinātais “Latviešu vēsturisko zemju likums” ar mērķi aizsargāt un stiprināt Latvijas kultūras un valodas savdabību un daudzveidību. Šis bija pirmais normatīvais akts Latvijas Republikā, kurā oficiāli tika pieminēta Sēlija un precīzi definēta tās kultūrvēsturiskā teritorija.
When you study the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth you discover that Latgalia was a separate state of Latvia (Courland-Semigola) state administered by Poland, almost like another country.
It wasn't for long and that is the only time when it was separated like that. Yes it was separated after livonian and the following wars like but it all eventually went to Russia after the carving of Polish Lithuanian commonwealth. Then it was a part of Latvia to this day. By the way before it was the "Inflantija" it was part of Latvia too so Latgale is as Latvian as Vidzeme is.
Latgalian is a distinct language and culture which has existed for centuries. What do you mean "making words up and expecting us to go along with them"?
