The latest to face threats of closure is Turakina Mäori Girls College, with a roll of just 54 it has been put on notice by the Minister of Education. The whānau of Turakina have not taken the threat lightly and are vowing to fight back, but as Potaka Maipi found out the spiritual connection between the former students runs deeper than their Anglican, Catholic and Presbyterian upbringing.
