Turanganui Schools Maori Cultural Festival. About 1400 students from nine schools rounded off a week-long Turanganui Schools Maori Cultural Festival with a mass haka. Kapa haka tutor Pura Tangira coached students at each of the nine schools throughout the year and the students came together to perform the stirring haka. The sound almost lifted the Showgrounds Park Event Centre roof off, said Turanganui Schools Maori Cultural Festival chairman Hayden Swann.
