No need for a manual valve body on an Electronically controlled transmission. It has tap shift capability using a Lokar shifter and some simple software tuning. But seeing how to rebuild one would be nice since the 6L80 is fast becoming the go trans for many hotrod and offroad guys. Deep first gear, tall 6th gear, and with just a few aftermarket parts it holds 800-1,000hp or more with ease. My buddy has had one in is 76 Squar body for 4 years now making 950hp and its holding up great, and the trucks faster than it was with the T400 he blew up 4 times. Now yes you can build a 1,000hp capable T400. Many people do. But he blew up 2 that were supposed to hold 1,200+, 1 that was supposed to be rated for 900hp when the truck was still only making 800hp, and 1 rated for 1,000hp when the truck was making about 880-920hp. He had a 6l80 built for it and it has already lasted more than 3 times longer than any of the T400s he had in it. And he says it drives way better on the street and highway now that he has 2 times the gears to pick from, and over drive. I have one sitting here going behind a very mild gen four 5.3L that's going in my Jeep TJ shortly. (Shooting for around 400hp at the crank since its going in a wheeling rig that's not used for mud) I drove a TJ with this exact same setup and was just blown away at how much nicer it drove than mine. (Currently has built 4.6 stroker and a 5 speed manual trans) And how much nicer it drove over my buddies 5.3 swapped TJ running a T350 trans. The 3 extra gears and overdrive just make for a MUCH nicer driver on the street over a T350 or T400. And the Deeper first gear makes for a better crawl ratio off road. Gets better MPG when your just driving around to. And it holds the motor in the power band better when you want hammer on it.

I guess I could see the argument for a daily driver that sees 30-40K miles per year....but I don't see the argument about the pump working at max pressure.....the pump inside a transmission is not a "modulating" pump, it flows the same pressure at all times, and the pressure is controlled by the valve body. And yes I could see the argument about that pressure flowing through the TC....but TBH most vehicles with MVB also have a high or higher stall Torque Converters....this generates higher heat and load more than pressure from the pump. I would argue that the MVB will extend the life of a well built trans because it eliminates all the "slip" in the system. If anything the abuse is more serious downstream in the drivetrain with extra load on things like U joints, ring and pinions, and such.

another full manual reverse pattern valve body by hughes suggested tapping a hole in the pump, installing a set screw, and drilling a reduced sized hole to limit the max pressure to a more reasonable range to prevent damage to not only the transmission, but the thrust bearing in your motor as well. Apparently the increased pressure can put excessive thrust onto the torque converter and into your motor.

This one doesn't need it.....if I was going that far I would of done the Reid Case as well

It is a hard shift for sure....but if you stay off the throttle during the shift its fine...but I prefer a firm/harder shift

Your band apply pin might be too short....or if you may have missed putting a seal in the clutch drum.
