Stumbled upon your channel looking for Cortina builds.. Going great so far, I'm really hoping you'll continue and finish it off soon, looking forward to future vids! In 2002 I finished building my '78 TE (CORTTE) We put a '94 ED xr6 4ltr MPFI engine in it with the 5 speed manual conversion and running gear with a bunch of other mods.. Spent close on $30k.. Was an absolute beast and I really miss it.. Might have to do it all over again at age 41! 😅

Tip use an old aerial extended fix to the aera of clearance issue and close the bonnet then you have the measurement of the height clearance

Great project. If I remember correctly you are using APS Engineering. I am also using them and find them real good to deal with. After my first inspection I discovered I needed 15 mm clearance between engine and steering components including non moving parts (rack body). Hope you have taken this into consideration when placing the engine (I didn’t know and now need to remove my sump and redo it). I also didn’t know you could use solid mounts on a street car. Keep up the good work and great vids.

Use an EA EB Intake more log style a day lower throttle body position.

My mate put ls with a t56 in a vr commy there was no room to get to the bleed nipple.we drilled the tunnel and put a grommet for access

Work well done on getting over this massive hurdle. Sure there will be plenty more headaches to come, but compared to this mammoth task, job well done. Let's just hope Les is ready for the runs down the 1/4, cause is gonna be a fast one. 👌👌

I was thinking of sohc "barra" a Toyota Starlet feet the last few months... May just bloody start doing it.. 😂

When we did a barra in my mates te we dropped the rack a little for Clerance

I've seen cortinas with factory 4.1 motors

Nice progress there lads 😊 Hopefully with the inlet manifold in place the heater box is still unaffected. Quick tip for finding bonnet clearance is using loosely scrunched up kitchen foil on the bit that needs checking and closing the bonnet. The foil will crush and hold in shape and thickness for an easier way to measure the clearance you have 😉

Also could use two smaller radiators without moving engine back. Although I like your thinking. Weight distribution and handling being improved every cut and slice backwards

Use a bf short starter motor one without the lug it will save on room and will work with the sohc

why not cut the front and do tube chassis so u get more room

Shouldn't matter the angle of the engine if you have the diff pinion angle the same (one piece drive shaft only)

PS. You need more #workshopcat and less rabbit
