Built one as well (also 406 SBC, in fact) though I was 20 at the time and did not have the knowledge/sense/money to make it hook and go like this. Still it was a blast on the streets. Love the baby square-bodies as well. Cheers, Mike

+Mike Peterson built my last S10 in 2000. 406(really popular back then) w/250 shot single plate,caltracs on a 10.5 tire,ran 10.0's. Really thought I was doing something,lol. It's cool though how far and fast everything has gotten. Turbos and the LS changed the game.

I've always wanted a clean and shiny S-10 and boosting and building up the stock 4.3L. LS swaps are cool, but I just would love to imagine what it would be like to hear it scream down a road with that boosted v6 and a nice exhaust.

loving the truck and yay a tried n true sbc under the bonnet.. i know lots of people like 1320 think the ls is just the best platform ever but i don't feel that way they tend to have have oiling problems and thrust bearing issues right out the gate. i guess if money was a non issue and i just had to have ls stuff id go for a motown hybrid block and use the best of both worlds

+justin beamon gen 1, probably Brodix heads. 400 SBC been kicking ass in dirt cars for decades. I should consider that swap in my fox. I know lots of dirt guys and could snag one reasonable used.

zach garratt LoL I'm not doing anything anytime soon. Probably leave that car alone. It's already a 308 H/C/I However I'm all about hp per dollar and the Fox body has been my chassis choice since 94' I'd really prefer a dart block stroker ford on boost. That's just so damn expensive. Easy 15g's for the something like that. Add in trans I'm getting near 20g's. LS with built 4L80 and boost can be had for 7g's. Hard to look past that when et's matter more then brand.

+Matt Kirkland Its a sbc with LS1 ecu. Its an hybrid. I have the same setup. GenI 383 forged turbo w/ ls1 coil over plug ecu hp tuners . Dart heads single plane w/ 4150 1300 cfm throttle body comp camshaft and valve train. I personally think mines nicer. Not setup for drag though. His defiantly makes more power.

+Mark Rich that is pretty cool. Hadn't seen that. Seen a guy do an LS swap in a fox using the stock EECIV harness. Assume EECIV ECU but would hope not. Primitive sucker compared to the LS offerings.

NiCadRacer He may be running a MS3 also ? Or coil pack s hidden. The last year of the sbc vortec Gen 1 had all the early style electronics setup just as a ls3 . Cam sensor , early style fuel injection reluctor map maf ect.. So some one smarter than me figured out you can take a 24x reluctor that the gen 3 uses, where the old gen 1s 4x reluctor is and wire in the gen 3 ls1 ecm. That allows us to use custom software. Specifily I use HP tuners. It turns the ls1 ecu into a stand alone . It really is the best thing you could do for the SBC throttle response is unbelievable. HP and TQ gain across the board. No more distributor . Real MPFI fuel injection . It also allows the user to shut down 4 cylinder for cruising on the highway resulting in unbelievable gain in MPGs. Best of all custom tuning turbos. if you haven't figured out 1320's descriptions by now it's going over your head. LSx is just in the LS family. not meaning it's an LSX...if it's a true LSX they will say it is (if the owner actually is telling the truth)

The plugs that were in it after the road drive from Kearney were shot and it was blowing spark out under boost that's why it was going rich. Swapped plugs and that's when it went 8.70 and ran lots cleaner.
