No it is not. It is the the best engineered and respected of brands. That is why they had to destroy it. SAAB set the standards too high for the bean counters. It was easier and more profitable to build the pieces of shit we have running around today. Same goes for everything that is above and beyond.
@@petezzzz100 pc agree. They were a smaller mass output of vehicles BUT put so much effort and design innovation into their cars that's why they have lasted like the older volvos. Wouldn't listen to GM who tried to cut costs and mass Produce and Saab would rather go bankrupt than adhere to thier cheaper design and way of doing things. Last OG saab was the 9 5. Went downhill with the GM parts bin newer 9 3 I think
Nice to see someone actually driving and enjoying their car for a change. People nowadays regard their vehicles as appliances, especially those clunky, look-alike SUVs. Nice video!
You prolly dont care but if you are bored like me atm you can watch all of the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother lately xD
I loved the balance in the car. It was everything at once. Enough power, enough safety, enough comfort, enough efficiency and it was clever. My issue was the dealerships. They were awful and dumb. Told me I had a head gasket leak at 50k miles. No milkshake no issues. Just a scam.
I love driving my 2000 9-5 aero every day. I bought it to keep my 2004 Silverado nice, but now I want to keep the saab as nice as possible too. The 2nd-3rd shift is my favorite in it. That's when you can really hear the turbo do it's thing. I got a CAI for it also, but I still have to drop the air box and install it lol. I'll probably wait for that when I do the stage 2 tune on it.
@sumnik852 they're pretty reliable cars. Idk why people hate on them so much. It definitely gives newer cars a run for their money too lol. It's 23 years old, and it rides so good, and it's comfortable as hell. By far one of my favorite cars I've ever owned.
well yeah.....the intake is on the passenger side....you can hear it clear as day. What I did NOT hear....is the sound of the tires breaking loose in 1st 2nd and 3rd like they used to do in my viggen lol
With 2 9-3 Aero`s on the driveway (a saloon & a Convertible), this summer I`m on the hunt for the right 9-5 Aero to add to the family.......If I`m lucky, somebody will be selling a Hirsch optioned one by then!
i have a modified Saab 93 1.8t soon to be upgraded again, a Saab 95 Aero 260 that is also going to be breathed on shortly and a diesel 93 for the missus, which is remaining stock. WILL MAKE A VIDEO SOON.......KEEP WATCHING.
Awesome ride dude! Don't you just love you SAAB? I love mine!! I don't think they made a bad one? I have not drove a 97 yet and well maybe not every version of the 900.
I’ve had several auto and manual versions of this Aero. 2002 Auto Wagon was the best bought new. 2004 manual saloon ok but gearbox rubbish bought at 24 months old., 2001 auto se 2.3t ok but a loaner. I would love another decent one.
2002 was the first year with 250 hp and the five speed automatic. Before that the Aero only had 230 hp and 4 gears in the automatic. Cheers from Sweden!
Fellow 9-5 aero owner here. I noticed blow off sound when you shifting gears. Did you install atmospheric bov or what? If you did that would make you actually lose power
The "blow off" sound is just coming from the cold air intake. No aftermarket BOV! I removed the stock air box and just clamp a K&N filter to a spare piece of intercooler piping I had. I routed the cone filter next to the passenger wheel well. Ran it like that for years and through many puddles 😬
@@EuroRev if you don't threw away stock airbox i suggest you to cut the upper part of it and use the lower half installed in stock mountings as a splash cover, it works just great for me! By the way the sound difference with cold intake even with my tiny-tiny V6 0.25bar turbo is just insane. Whistles like a jet fighter
This is the factory 9-5 aero knob. There might have been a shift pattern that clipped to the top that fell off. It has never had a shift pattern since I bought it 3 years ago.
I drive a 9-3 linear and it's lowkey losing a little bit more power every day. I'm trying to figure out if the turbos having issues or if it's something else. Anybody got any clue?
Also check vacuum lines.. the old rubber ones dry rot. Do your self a favor, and buy a spool of silicone tubing. Take one line off, match the length, replace. You'd be amazed at how messed up the old lines can be. Could potentially take care of a boost leak, as long as nothing else is underlying..
@Jx Po Perfect mechanical condition. 12 liters/100km is pretty trash. I respect your opinion and still don't understand how you get lower. My arc 9-5 does 8,9l/100 Lovely car generally! Comfy car which you can have loads of fun with
