Thank you! I'm pretty sure this is the only 9th gen Corolla full turbo install video currently online so I wanted this to make sure to put in the effort on this one!
I’m just amazed as you are, ever since I started getting into my cars my dream has always been boosting my rolla. It is absolutely wild to see it all happen, def my fav video from your channel. Keep it up bud
@@WillChang Actually, this is exactly what I was looking for! Ever since I got my beater daily driver your content has been very helpful to me. I hope to see some videos of this car rolling, I would definitely tune in!😸
I got an 07 Corolla S 5-speed. I started watching your videos about 5 months ago. Watching the videos and the excitement i see when you finish certain things is inspiring. I plan on putting a supercharger in mine as well as soon as I can. Keep on doing what you do.
@@WillChang unfortunately my transmission just blown... now I'm stuck in limbo. Do i replace the tranny and make it my own.. or do i start fresh and get a new corolla?
Ah I'm sorry to hear that! If you've got the patience and funds for it a 6 speed from the XRS can be installed just like a 5 speed can! A big project, but I think it's worth it if you think so
You’re about to break 100,000 views‼️never seen a 9th gen corolla automatic turbocharged so to me, you just did the impossible 😭😭 I need to do this to my 2005 LE now.
I just want to say thank you for this video! The amount of information and detail provided was truly amazing. I have a 2ZZ Celica that I've been wanting to boost for a while and after watching your install my determination is back! Great video!
FINALLY - a feature length Corolla video. Made popcorn and got comfy while casting from phone to TV. Awesome video 👍 🍿 🥤 😎 Looking forward to next video
Never in my life have I seen a video so detailed and so exact so explained as this one... congratulations and thanks for making those videos to make the job very easy...god bless you..
I feel as if I just went on a journey watching your install. You showed the hard parts of the install. I have been wanting to boost my 2001 Celica with the 1zz engine and now your video answers questions I have about installing the turbo kit
Really like how you mod a normal car that people can actually afford! You go with parts most people can afford too! I own a 2018 Corolla SE, it's the only new car I have ever purchased and I am 61! I have never in my life enjoyed a car as much as I do this one. I had rented a 2017 LE a year earlier when my junk Chevy was in the shop, I knew I was going to buy one after driving it for a week. I love the aggressive styling and the mind blowing gas mileage! I love the simple controls and the car is extremely reliable! I am planning on installing the TRD axle back exhaust when it warms up outside. People complain that Corolla's are slow, drive an SUV for a while then tell me the Corolla is slow! The Corolla won't be on two wheels in a sharp corner either! Anyway, your videos are awesome and inspiring! I had never seen a Corolla turbocharged! That's what cool is!
I just bought a '08 Corolla LE auto w/ 170k for $2k. Whike I bought this as a cheap economical, reliable, & easy to repair vehicle as I rack up Mike's for work & often seemingly live out of it. This is my first Toyota but I'm in love and while I wish this was a manual trans it's still a great car, but doubling the 125hp is rather tempting to have a bit if a sleeper. Thanks for the vid & I will be checking out your other content.
I'd love to see more boosted 9th gen Corollas! I'm sure a boosted 1zz with a 5 or 6 speed manual would be much better than an auto, but I wanna see what the automatic can do before manual swapping!
This is actually what I was going to say. I would at least do a complete transmission service since that might save the transmission especially with a performance atf too since that might help with slipping but that’s just me. Really cool project regardless!
I love my old 04 Rolla (died at 300k). It just had comp tires and would shred with ut most confidence. Ive even got a GR86 prem man. I still miss the Rolla. Super under rated car!
As much as I enjoyed watching you struggle, reading the instructions first would save you trouble and results will be easier to judge (and troubleshoot if any issues arise) I want to put this system on my 1ZZFE Vibe , so watching your install is pretty cool 😎
The only thing I saw that was not wrong, but it can lead to premature failure, is when you put rtv on the oil pan you went outside of the bolts only instead of going around them, that means the seal is on the outside of the bolts and if oil somehow does splash up, it CAN leak through the bolt holes. Although with Moroso's baffled pan it probably won't even be an issue. Otherwise everything looked great!
Been silently watching your vids for a while. Congrats! Ive had a complete supercharger kit for my 1zz sitting in my garage for about a year. This is great motivation to finally install it 😂
Yes! Full TRD kit, trd piggy back and all. Found it kinda local to me. If you were closer to me I would definitely pay you to help me install it and make a detailed video of the install since I have yet to find one. The history on it is unknown so Im still debating if I should have it sent out for a rebuild or just install it and send it lol. I will probably also need a beefier clutch kit
@@dasspr I still have my Is TRD super charger from 2003 Had it on my matrix 5 speed Super fun someday I'm going to buy another one I'm just missing the Polly bracket and the supercharger kicker If you put it in make sure you make a video👍
I just stumbled across this video and I’m so excited not because it’s an interesting video but because this guy has done exactly what I’ve been trying to do he has found performance parts for a Toyota Corolla😂
1:17:34 worth watching. I own a 05 1zz-fe Corolla 5 speed MT she just hit 200k miles. I’m so happy you boosted yours. Congrats bro. Now you make me wanna buy another Corolla and boost it 😂😂
Great video, something that will help. Any time I work on a vehicles exhaust, I soak everything with PB Blaster. It really helps, exhaust bolts see a lot of tempature changes.
@@WillChang Facts! I am really routing for you bro, this is something that I would do. I have a 03 Mxrs that I might in the future. I appreciate the transparency with ur mistakes, redos, redundant work, hiccups 🙏 I learned from u, so Thank you fam 👊 I would love to learn more about the AEM FIC, bcuz my tuner guy can only tune 05+ xrs w/ air inj. Mine is 03 and I have to go standalone... (apexi pfc?) Keep on Keeping on 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I ran an F/IC on a turbo Miata back in the day. Really under-rated piggyback. The thing ran flawless and the narrowband sensor manipulation stuff was really cool. I like seeing weird cars turbocharged.
That's awesome! I've heard more people having issues with the F/IC on Toyotas since the stock ecu tries to fight more but I'll have to see if it's really as much of an issue as some say!
That was the main reason why I decided to turbo before manual swapping since I haven't seen anyone else with an automatic turbo Corolla document how it held up over time
Next car is gunna be a 2003-08 corolla S manual or on the hunt for the XRS snd one of the things imma do after I have the money for it is find a good turbo kit and commit. This was very informative and entertaining
So dope I wanted to do this to my 2003 Toyota Corolla S made it widebody also automatic...but it sadly broke down like 2 months ago :( got rod knock so I got rid of her (ToT) been watching all your Corolla videos for a while keep it up yo...I recommend not pushing it to hard with the turbo if you want it to last..I pushed mine with no turbo and now she's gone...lol but it did have like 240,000+ miles on it lmao
Sorry to hear you had to get rid of yours, I think I’ll be okay as I don’t really push my cars hard on a day to day basis especially when I’m just driving to class 😅
😅 it’s just a temporary setup until I can get a 3in exhaust made for it, I wish TKC made a turboback exhaust for this kit like they do for the 10th gen Corolla turbo kit but it is what it is!
I've been waiting a long time for this. I had a matrix that I put intake and exhaust on and it was okay, but I always wanted to install a turbo cuz I knew that's what it needed. Nice work :-)
love the zz engines!!! so glad I stumbled upon this video you are really cool and funny and honestly one of the most intuitive videos ive seen in a while. I couldn’t even tell i was watching for over an hour 😂
You should be proud; you did great! There's just one thing you should pay attention too and it's around the 1:12:01 mark when you were spinning the engine over. I could hear that one cylinder has low compression. Do a compression tests on all four cylinders and let me know what you get
Thank you! Interesting you hear a low compression though, I've done a compression test and all cylinders got 180 or higher and I've known this car since brand new so for it to develop low compression seems a bit odd to me but I'll watch if anything changes or if compression decreases when I test it again
first of all, i love this video. iv'e been looking for projects like this on you tube for years and i just happend to see your video on my home page. love the style, and hoping to see more in the future. im a toyota buff, so its nice to see others like us haha. definitely subbing :)
Internal waste gate needs a vacuum source from the engine. Not the housing. Even on an external waste gate you need a boot solenoid to run between the turbo housing and the waste gate. You. Don’t want to mix metals. That’s a bumper not a bash bar. The bumper cover is what people call a bumper.
@@WillChang I know! My girlfriend sold her 1st gen RAV4 with 325k miles and 5 years later the person who bought it still driving it around… by the way, I use 1ZZ shimless buckets and ignition coils in my 2JZ.
TurboKits has a kit for the 10th gen Corolla which uses the same engine as the XD. I'm sure some things will need to be altered for it to work but the 2zr can be boosted as well: www.turbokits.com/tk-corolla-2zr-turbo-kit.html Another RU-vidr named JimsGarageToys has a turbocharged 2zr Corolla and has some good videos on his build if you're interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1owpahdc_Fc.html
Hey thanks a lot for filming all this :) I'm curious did you have any oil leaks from the oil pan? Intuitively I would have put the RTV on the inside of the screw holes rather than on the outside like you did, so I'd like to see if it matters at all?
No leaks so far but I'll keep an eye on it! Others have told me that I should've put the RTV on the inside too but I'm not sure it matters as much as people think. If it starts leaking though I'll make an update about it!
The only thing I've been wondering is why bother spending so much on the 4 speed automatic? The transmission can handle less power, it shifts slower, and you can't decide which gear to be in, I truly see no upside to using that transmission
you put the silicone on the wrong side of the bolt holes on the new oil pan.. its gonna leak eventually from around the bolt holes and more as the oil wicks under it all.
