It WILL work , but the carb has to be jetted to match the airflow volume. Currently - the carb is jetted to match the airflow the engine can draw through a filter without ram induction. With the blower - there's forced induction / pressure and the carb is not jetted to match the air volume.

Yeah 👍 good points, getting my drill now 🤣 to open them jets up

"A" for effort! Now you'll have to drill a hole in the leaf blower tube to inject more fuel with an aerosol can. Maybe starting fluid? Maybe you shouldn't. Haha good video.

😅 ha ha that’s a good idea, I’m not scared to try it… I’m more scared my wife would kill drilling holes in her leaf blower lol

Hi, I have a 2006 4hp Mercury, from one of your videos I saw you could upgrade the carb to a 6hp which I did, runs much better. My question is, the lake I go to is at 7000 plus elevation do you know if they sell a high altitude jet for the carb?
@Skinnyriver
@Skinnyriver 2 месяца назад
Yeah definitely, i dont have experience with them but they are available. You can also adjust the fuel air mixture (screw under a brass cap on the carb) but it would void any warranty. Any Tohatsu or Mercury dealer could point you toward new jets. Here is a good thread on the topic forums.iboats.com/threads/altitude-affects-on-tohatsu-6hp-4-stroke-elevation-0-vs-3700-ft.591047/

Wait wait wait, you also obviously have to adjust the carburator air/fuel mix ratio screw. I can confirm, if you do it properly, youll get quite a bit more power
@Skinnyriver
@Skinnyriver 5 месяцев назад
Good point, my understanding is the fuel air mixture screw mainly impacts the idle circuit of the carb so won’t help with full throttle condition but I might be wrong. I think the best way is to get a larger main jet or drill the one I have out. anyway I didn’t want to mess it up for a silly video. But it’s a good point. I may test that for stupid video idea #2 😂 or someone said to spray starter fluid into the leaf blower lol

@@Skinnyriver very true! Main jet would need to be larger for sure. Fuel mixture depends on the carb, you’re right smaller carburator dont adjust the main jet!

This was pretty cool. I knew a guy back in day who had a Honda Civic with a throttle body carb on it. It had a semi built 4 cylinder and he did this and somehow rigged the the gas pedal so the more he pushed it the faster the leaf blower blew and he took it to the drag strip just to see and he actually had faster times with the leaf blower. The crazy stuff we come up with.

@Skinnyriver 5 месяцев назад
lol I had high hopes. Maybe if I change out the carb jets to larger ones?? Someone said I should drill holes in the leaf blower and spray starter fluid in it 😂😂
@smokinwithskruggs
@smokinwithskruggs 5 месяцев назад
@@Skinnyriver I seen the comment about drilling holes. You could try larger jets if you can get them. If not you can get an original and drill it out. Thats what we use to do with car carbs back in the day. If you could do that it would be neat to see how that would work with that iridium plug and high performance coil.

@smokinwithskruggs yeah I bet it would really help. Those jets are tiny. Might as well I’ve already voided the manufacturers warranty at least 10 times 😂
