I really love the design of these things I always thought when passing by a small river or lake with a steady flow of water: I could place a small turbine in there to charge a batterypack and use this energy later for powering LEDs or something. This is exactly that idea just bigger and I'm amazed that it exists. Really like it

Has there been a design proposed using stacked turbines, starting with the smallest first, then sizing them outward, recovering more and more energy from the cascade as it flows downward? Or vice versa, biggest first them shrink the cone down, building velocity and pressure. Or even keep them the same size, just counter-rotate the blades to maintain head pressure, or keep them the same direction... Just a few thoughts from a brain that loves to work in fluid ways.

"Центробежная сила" это разность давления у потока движущегося по окружнлсти, на внешнем радиусе потока повышенное дааление, на внутреннем радиусе пониженное давление. Пониженное давление это прирост энергии, его можно использовать для разгона потока. Там у вас перепад более метра, значит можно прогнать пару оборотов, что увеличит скорость потока и как следствие энергию.

The merits compared to a vertical half kaplan fixed propeller turbine with aspirated exhaust? It costs less? is it more efficient? Leaving aside the comparison with the screw turbines. I do not understand. Ciao
@recklessroges
@recklessroges 3 года назад
The Archimedes' screw turbines, (that are installed "diagonally") use more material to construct and require more maintenance due to the load not being axial or perpendicular to the thrust of the water. These are installed on small streams and have a much lower impact on the aquatic life than any of the technologies that you listed. The kaplan, as I understand it, would be less efficient in a low-head environment. (Kaplan are great when you have a dam that is half a mile above the kaplan turbine.)
@winterburan
@winterburan 3 года назад
@@recklessroges Maybe I wrote wrong, I also specified leaving out the arcmede screws, (maintenance costs, etc.) not far from me there is the first co-commercialized archimede screw in the world with variable speed with regenerative inverter to modulate the flow rate, built 18 years ago and (object of study at the time being a novelty, built by the German company which has now been absorbed by a multi-national company, which marketed them for the first time ever over 20 years ago, leaving out this I read many imprecisations, fixed propeller turbines they are not Full Kaplan turbines, but both are born for very low jumps being reaction turbines with aspirated exhaust, they also work with only one meter, then subsequently they have been improved and brought to work even beyond 50 meters for full Kaplan, they are unparalleled as efficiency on the flow rate work curve, but only in large systems and with 2 settings, those not full kaplan but with fixed propeller are practically identical to this stuff, they can be open or closed chamber with radial inlet with or without fixed distributor always for jumps from one meter upwards, this "turbine" appears more commercial for developing countries than anything else, large diameter to slow down and adapt the centrifugal speed of the water to that of the propeller, in the end it is a propeller with an open loading chamber, nothing new we have similar turbines from 1920/1930 with an open loading chamber in the irrigation channels, the propeller turbines fixed are not used on dams or large jumps but precisely in small hydro plants with similar flow rates, they are in the hydroelectric field, this one in the video has adjustable propellers so it is not a fixed prop but a semi-kaplan type, so nothing new. that's why I don't see anything innovative and I don't understand.
@TurbulentHydro
@TurbulentHydro 3 года назад
@@winterburan Good questions, and some already answered above. What do you mean with aspirated exhaust? I don't get that term. As per benefits, we design these turbines to be cost efficient and requiring low amounts of expertise to install. We didn't add a draft tube as the extra efficiency it gave us, didn't outweigh the added costs of digging further down. You have to keep in mind that we design these systems for remote areas and for refurbishment of old mills. existing hydraulic structures etc. When you have to dig down under the water level, you have to put sheet piling around your build site and pump away the ground water. That all adds to the costs. By keeping it simple we want to make these projects doable by people without expert experience in hydraulic civil works. KISS is our moto, Keep it Simple and ssss...cheap.

@TonyM1961

The system is built in a scale that only requires x amount of waterflow to generate energy at max capacity. You have to take into account that you are not the only person who needs to use the water plus by only diverting part of the stream you get past the environmental extremists who would claim that diverting the entire flow would adversely impact the local ecosystem. Why ruffle any more feathers than absolutely necessary to get the amount of energy that you need for your project? At least that's what makes the most sense to me

@rileywaghorn6225
@rileywaghorn6225 3 года назад
I’m saying this because it’s about how much the turbine/motor spins not the momentum of the water. Faster water will turn the turbine more and produce more power and slower water will produce less power. Has Turbulent been in contact with PKS in Bad Ischel, the archive in Austria for Viktor Schauberger? He is the grand wizard of Water Vortexing, I feel like you guys can fine-tune the generator and get even more efficiency and applications! Cheers

Can this turbine harness the force of a 200 meter (slightly inclined) fall of water?
@15Redstones
@15Redstones 3 года назад
No, this is for small height drops. You'd need a different turbine design for higher water pressure.
@robertbaelen7656
@robertbaelen7656 2 года назад
There are plenty of high pressure systems to buy. 200 meters is a pressure of 20 bar or 20 kg/cm² thats high pressure. With a lot of energy. I am jalous.
