Turisas Interview with Mathias Nygård with Dixon Christie for PunkTV.ca in support of the album The Varangian Way. Go to www.PunkTV.ca for more interviews and videos that cannot be posted on RU-vid.
I think I was there doing a Dragonforce interview which I was well prepared for, and then this much loved band from Finland is in the same location (but that I know nothing about); I honestly always feel that it's the least we can do to provide some exposure for them as they came all the way to Canada, and I was right there to do this. so we do this all out of a love of independent music and respect for musicians)...
On a far more positive side to my opinion, I REALLY like that you asked him what they based their songs on, I always felt like I was being told a story, but now I know. Thanks alot mr. interviewer :)
Christie Dixon: Do your homework, invest into a backdrop, and talk into the microphone, even at then end of the interview. Mathias: You are living proof that you don't have to circle the stage to own it. cheers!
Hello and thanks for watching. I am the interviewer and agree that this was a pretty shit interview. Sometimes when bands come through town, we are asked by their management to do the interview on the spot, as was the case with Turisas...
So that's what i chose to do... I apologize for all you great fans that expected better. I wish I could have interviewed the band AFTER their show because they were really awesome, but that was not an option, they were all really ill. Check out the interviews we've done with Cannibal Corpse and Dragonforce as I think they are some of our best. Thanks again for watching and keeping me on my toes. Dixon Christie
So, this is why from time to time our interviews are pretty lame. What you are seeing is a completely improv interview, and it looks like it... So after we do the interview, we have the option of either chopping up the interview so the host doesn't look like an idiot, or leave it as is, and give you the whole interview...
Its hard to believe he wasnt born in england, his accent sounds more like he spent alot of time in his homeland when he was growing up, thats kinda confusing when i read back on it, but i know what i mean lol
I think this whole interview is a bad example of what this band is capable of >_> The guy doin the interview seemed like he kept trying to generalize Turisas and make it seem more "mainstream". Just things like referring to Turisas's fans as "kids".
well, I hope you'll have a second chance to interview this awesome band ;) don't worry :) maybe next time you'll do your best interview so far? :D by the way it wasn't as bad as some people are posting here, for me it was ok ;)
Ahaha my god. Holdin the mic away from your face while u are talking HAHA my god. Joking aside, how is it that the mighty Mathias Nygard of Turisas wasnt properly prepared for? there are questions many of us would like to hear answers to like, do u guys OWN ANY VIKING BATTLE EQUIPMENT??? Have u ever killed anyone with an axe?? Are you making a new album???????? But really, for a company that interviews people, u should know about all bands and have people who listen to all kinds of music!!
Lame, and badly shot. Coverin with two cameras should make the interview agile and dynamic. The coverage didn't help since the secind cameras was placed on a terrible angle. Furthermore, the journalist didn't do his homework and knew littlr aboutthe band. But then again, thanks for making it happrn and sharing it. Chwck out the interview we just did to the band, check it out on our channel.
0:12 ... do they have a new logo or did I just miss something? The "T" of Turisas looks strange... Oo What bad interviewer, shame on you punktv! Nonetheless, Turisas is awesome
