For whatever reason, turkey day happened to fall on the day my resident services was upgrading so I didn’t get any of the cool event ;-; Not to self, don’t reset my island again cuz fate will make me not get an event
I think the game slightly adjust spawn rates of things it knows you are looking for. I’ve noticed that for me at least, if I get asked to catch a specific bug or fish for a nook miles plus goal, that specific creature seems to become harder to find.
Kora: "What was your favorite part of turkey day" My answer: "Bribing my friends with 1 million bells and to find the dungeness crab and the after an hour of searching us all giving up and playing minecraft where after getting fully enchanted gear a ghast all knocked us into a lava lake."
Nah Gordon’s actually a sweetheart with kids as seen with his own and the master chef juniors show he’s really supportive and caring like on the show if any got worked up due to messing up their meals he’d immediately try comfort him
It was frustrating for me because my pockets kept getting full, drop items, pick up items.. it was pretty scary. I wanted to eat Franklin I was so mad.
Tbh, this was the best event by far, it actually lasted for quite a while for me, and getting the ingredients and finding out the secret recipes for each dish was really fun.
I actually loved how long and cute this event was. I was alone for thanksgiving this year and it helped me fill my time and not just fixate on missing my family that day. Spent it with my villagers instead
Oh in spanish the last dish dialogue is different! He tells you "what? Why do you think its called turkey day? Because *I* decide what we going to eat!"
Just time travel back to the holiday...and ngl you’re not missing out. You can just buy the DIY recipes from nooks now. The only reason you should go back is if you didn’t get the rug, wallpaper and flooring.
I liked how useful the turkey day furniture is. Like the Halloween and bunny day stuff is cute but really only for that time. Turkey day stuff looks good all year round and that’s cool.
that moment when you sell all of your pumpkins the day before, and the store is closed to be rebuilt so i cant go past part 2 and then i just get tired of finding whatever everyone asks for
I knew I could trade with my villagers or get the diys in at nooks but it just feels ✨special✨ when Franklin gives them to you and you actually got them yourself
“White pumpkins are so much easier then a dab” Me who only got a white pumpkin on turkey day after buying like 300 pumpkins and only getting green, yellow and orange all of fall.
I don’t think you realize but you could get ingredients from your villagers if they happen to be cooking and they could possibly give you the fish you need
for me the best part of turkey day was watching my sister play after I played. I watched in horror as she sold her Dungeness crab without the knowledge that it was a secret ingredient and the fish too. I couldn't warn her about it because she prefers to play 100% blind, unknowing of what to expect. I have a good secret laugh
I really liked this event, it took a bit of time, and got you doing things like fishing/diving, not just for Franklin, but for side quests as well. I only wish the villagers actually ATE THE FOOD! Also would have been neat to have the dishes as items for the last prize, since the DIYs could be purchased the next day anyways (perhaps Franklin would mail them to you the next day if you got all four special ingredients so you didn't have to buy them). It's also neat that the DIY items can be customized for Spring and appear that way by default for folks in the southern hemisphere (at least that I've read). Also, HOORAY for the migratory locust!!!
I loved turkey day, I had time to do the event and it was so cute, especially with the villagers doing the new reactions. Somewhat frustrating when villagers would give me ingredients that I already had and the amount of time it took to find common fish was annoying but other than that I had fun.
This was my favorite holiday so far. The exclusive rewards were easy enough to get and if you wanted a longer lasting event you could go for the recipes
I actually enjoyed this Turkey Day! The OG/CF had it’s charm, delivering Franklin fork and knives and HOW COME THERE’S NO CASSEROLE DISH BUT YOU CAN MAKE A CASSEROLE POT. It was a bit short too but I dunno it was so cute and charming. The only thing I’d change Other than no turkey or casserole dishes :( Is being able to make the food yourself, either to gift or eat or place in your home/around your island
I googled it because it caught me off guard, but that was intentional. Franklin hired a gopher to be his gofer but they didn’t show up. Gopher’s the animal and gofer’s the... occupation?
Your videos are always a pleasure ☺. Glad to watch a fun video even at the mundane laundry mat. My favorite item is the dutch oven/ casserole dish or what ever they call it. It reminds me of my grandmothers sunday roast.
I loved that the furniture wasn't overly turkey themed - being able to use it out of context (outside of the holiday) is so helpful! I liked a lot of the Halloween items, but trying to figure out a use for some of them is a bit tricky (don't even talk to me about Bunny Day recipes). Admittedly I haven't played the previous games, so I don't have much nostalgia for their items, so I don't know how others feel about them not sticking to the Franklin theme!
This is my first introduction to the franchise as well and I was super irritated that we got all of those Halloween decorations *on Halloween night*. What am I supposed to do with them for the rest of the year? I guess I'll be prepared for next year's Halloween? Ugh. I'm glad the Turkey day stuff is usable for fall and winter. Now Christmas stuff...
Yeah for sure it was such a loveable experience for me. I avoided all spoilers of this event and it was so worth it! I'm planning on doing the same for toy day!
My villagers gave me the hard to find secret ingredients...I just had to visit them in succession, and do the easy fishing, before heading back to Franklin. Sometimes they gave me an ingredient I'd already delivered. It's how I got the scallop and dungeoness crab....super easy...only fished for bass, mackerel, and dab. I liked the event, the items were ok
I was not a patient person so I spent the whole day before fishing and diving for all the items I didn’t already have so I could get through the event easier. Once it was done I could focus on my actual thanksgiving plans.
I actually had fun with this event!! The one thing I couldn't get was a second dab for the longest time. I finally caught it around 10pm but I'm excited for next year too 😭😭
I found that if one wanted a dab, another wanted something I had in exchange for a dab. I caught 10 fish with food and then exchanged everything until I got what was needed. It was super fast!
I loved the event. (Even though I’m in the UK) Just the right length for an event on a working day. I did NOT love that it only unlocked once I had a registered Nintendo account on their server, previously it downloaded patches with a vanilla internet connection. (It didn’t need a subscription, just the account)
I've only played NL, HHD, and NH, so this joke may have already been used in one of the older games, but the sea bass pun could have been something like this: I caught a sea bass! I wanted a sea cello! At least that would have made sense to me...
I’m glad Nintendo made the turkey day furniture customisable for Southern Hemisphere players so the furniture would fit with our spring aesthetic, shows that they’re not just exclusively thinking about northern hemisphere players which is great!
This was actually my fav holiday so far of the year, and the furniture will def be staying in my house for a while and be customised for when spring comes round
I didn’t finish the harvest festival this year because I thought there were only 3 types of pumpkins so I didn’t have a yellow one. I didn’t realize that your villagers could trade you for materials, I’ll have to remember that for next year
I just thought of a cool mechanic, what if we were able to help blathers take care of the bugs and fish we caught? It would give us a reason to go to the museum more often and it would be kinda nice to see what you helped create :)
I spent the first half of the day doing the first four dishes than I had to go eat dinner instead of playing animal crossing. I ate two drum sticks and when I ate them I said to my self “sorry Franklin” but it was good but I got VERY full. Than I said good bye to my grandparents and that ran back downstairs to get the sparkly dishes.
any other day i would’ve had no problem spending hours fishing and deep diving but for whatever reason i quickly got tired of it so turkey day only lasted for like 10 minutes for me and then i just said forget it and logged off
They turned Turkey day into a fishing event. After an hour in a half of fishing for a barred knifejaw with no success, my boy Bob hooked me up with one. Thank god i had a dungeness crab in my inventory, otherwise that would have taken over two hours. Really annoying event.
I caught a lot of random fish and talked to my villagers who were cooking at home - they unlocked all the recipes for the secret upgrades, and gave me some of what I needed (also in what universe can I trade a crucian carp for a barred knifejaw?! APPARENTLY the one I'm in! I loved that ^_^)
