In the early morning hours of February 6th, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck a populated area of Southern Turkey in what was the nation's largest earthquake in nearly a century. This was then followed by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake, which when combined represents Turkey's worst natural disaster of the 21st century. This video will discuss why these large magnitude earthquakes occurred and if these quakes have caused any changes at Turkey's volcanoes.
