can see you loving your little truck. That is going to save so much time and energy and do things that just can't be done by hand. So happy you were able to get it. Happy Mother's Day Lorraine and to you mom also. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Give Turkey's only water. Hold the food for a good three hours. You should have a better survival rate according to Pete at Just a few acres farm. He's been raising chickens and turkeys for a while now.
Styling in a mini truck with a selfie stick! 👍👍 btw, that pasture looks a lot better than when you first arrived, remember to give grit so the birds can digest the greenery.
First of all, Happy, Happier, HAPPIEST Mother's Day💐💐💐🦋🐝🌻🌷⚘️🌟💝 Lorraine 💖! You are so awesome! Secondly, Jason, that truck 🚚 looks like it was made for you! Best farm 🚜 investment EVER! I am in awe of how far you all have come since the beginning! I'm so glad I've been able to follow along since then. I can't begin to imagine how much you've helped so many people!🌏🌍🌎🐣🐤🦃🐖🐖🐖By the way, Where's the BEEF?!?🐄🐃🤭
Happy Mother's day to all mothers...your videos are so much fun to watch...you all are doing a great job...love your little piglets and your hot rodder..great entertainment for me..brings me great joy...Blessings
I think the mini truck is super cool. You look awesome driving it on the property too! Love to see all of the new chicks arrive and get their beaks dipped in water. The Kune Kune piglets are adorable. I think the escape artist will be the first to be sold though. LOL
💚 Happy Mother's Day, Lorraine, and to your Mom and Jason's! Looking forward to seeing those white turkeys and how they do this year. Someday I'm gonna have some Kune Kune pigs! Love seeing you zip around in your little work truck! 💚
Maybe tighten up the fence and turn it on so the ONE piglet will stay in the area. Cute WATCHING the ONE running back HOME ❤️ I was laughing. BLESSED MOTHER'S DAY LORRAINE AND MOMMA PIG. I STILL MISS THE BEEFY BOY'S. YOU PICK THE BEST NAMES. LIKE THE PIGS BEFORE. BROTHER'S. I REMEMBER WHEN YOUR FAMILY CAME FROM CALIFORNIA. LORRAINES PARENTS AND AUNT & UNCLE /FAM. LOVED CALLING ",THE BROTHER'S" OVER AND OVER L.O.L. GLAD THEY MOVED CLOSER. Thank you GOD BLESS EACH of YOU 🇺🇸🇨🇦🀄🛐🛐🌹🥀🌹🥀🌷🌺🌹🌻🥀🌷🌺🀄❤️🌻
You've got to save some of those white, plastic, feed bags then figure out what to turn them into this winter; look at triple lapped seams. Im thinking water proof covers for something; and then the possibilities become endless. Also the Sail Rite company has a free embrella cover video with enough info to create a pattern from.
Love the mini truck, love the baby chickens and turkeys, love the baby pigs, especially the little stinker who goes out to explore when you're not looking! I do miss the old Sow the Land music, though. Hope everyone had a good weekend and that all the moms had a relaxing day!
those piglets are growing - wow- mountain top chickens are growing too ! broody momma chicken, pretty cool, keep us updated on her for sure - no geese this year? That lil truck is handy, and the beefy boys are looking delicious !
Mr Google Pants says Carpenter bees only build in wood but 70% of the 20 000 other bees species in North America will. We get them here in SW Ontario. I did some research on them. Any aggressive action is mostly just show. They are pretty easy to get along with. However their habit of digging their nest out of wood is very destructive. So unfortunately I have had to discourage them from building around my house. Love watching you guys!! Be well from Canada 🇨🇦
Yay, chicks and pullets! That's a lot of animals. Jason the "Snack Man!" This was a fun video to watch Jason. We have a broody hen too. She's a Plymouth Barred Rock. I hope she hatches some chicks! Good luck with your brood! That was so cool to see you use that cute farm truck and the winch to move the pig feed to the other barn! That roast looked wonderful! Thanks for this video Contreras family. I saw you putting compost around your trees Lorraine. Good for you!
Informative video! all those fur babies are adorable. I came across your channel just as you had moved to N. Carolina, and I can see all the positive changes and progress you are making at a nice steady pace. Congratulations to All the Family~!
thanks for the video. good to see that you are getting more broilers and turkeys. the hoist makes it much easier with the small truck to load the feed. the meat really looked great that Loraine cooked. have a great week.
Jason did you see On RU-vid Today video, Pete Just A Few Acres raccoon kill all 45 of their meat birds 😮 the Same cages Setup like yours with Chicken Wire 🤔 Need to check it OUT his video 👀 Very sad 😢 day for them take care yours life❤ stock good job like always 👍
3:47 You sir have yourself some Bumblebees. That right there is like one of the only native North American bees... and I've personally never seen this in the wild so you are lucky! "Bombus affinis, commonly known as the rusty patched bumble bee, is a species of bumblebee endemic to North America." Not gonna lie... that's like my dream to come across on some land of my own. You should look into conservations in your area. These guys are losing ground all over the US to other creatures/species and Humans.
Hi there Rocky Homestead here I'm just starting out I just want you to know your channel is my favorite right along with Holler Homestead keep up the great work from north central Arkansas
Here's an idea....... How about a coal shute to refills those barrels with feed? You can back up your truck to the side of the barn or shed, to the side where the barrels are stored, open the new hatch you carved out in the side of the barn or shed, and place the coal shute OR large tube over the barrel of your choice & funnel the feed down the shute. I hope I'm explaining my idea to you, to inspire you to modify something along those lines, to make your life easier, rather than wasting so much time, trying to fill those barrels one bucket at a time. It sure would save you lots of walking back & forth. Remember to work smarter, not harder.
Hey Jason, make sure your skin is hydrated…we have had weird seasonal skin reactions to spring here… get that skin barrier some help….even on your face!
I see a problem with your broody hen. If you don't know how many eggs are under her, you run the probability of the other hens continuing to lay to her. I see at least 4 different hens eggs in that clutch. You will have chicks of multiple stages of development. When the first batch hatches she will abandon the rest and they will just die. Better to enclose her in a cage that no other hen can get to her to continue to lay. It will be messy 😟..
The little escape artist was the best ! I so glad you did feeder pigs along with kunikuni pigs and nailed down the savings in feed . I have never seen such pretty little pigs before but certainly come to watch them.
i got 15 easter egger hens 14 hens and 1 rooster, ended up getting 14 hens and 2 rooster none of my birds died this year on a 3 day transit to florida from mcmurry 😁 was a good year for me, hope the same for yall!
Ask Ben at Hollar Homestead. I couldn't find the video, but he uses a threaded metal tube to screw into the pig waterer and then screws in the nipples. It seems to work
I've always been curious about why some people dip beaks and some don't. From a RU-vid observer point of view they both seem fine, i.e. people that do or don't both have birds that drink water. They both find the water right away. So what are the reasons to do it or to not do it? One channel that doesn't said their chicks always drink fine and it felt mean to them to flip the chick over and stick their beak in the water. As opposed to that, watching beaks get dipped I've never seen the chicks seem distressed. Is it just that you do whatever the person did who taught you?
I've been wondering about the turkeys you lost that first week last year. One thing I've been told by experienced turkey growers around us is that they are terminally stupid - to the point that they put them in with chicken chicks so they learn to drink water without dying. Maybe that's what happened last year. Hopefully the big whites will be more content to stay put over the heritage breed. I'll be watching to see how it goes, we have plans for turkeys here in the future.
Odd question maybe someone can answer I work early AM can I feed my meat chickens in the afternoon with a 12 on 12 off method ? Obviously water will be checked.
You're gonna be busy with grass this year to, with no more beefy boys. Just thinking, for your size family, maybe butcher one steer per year and start out with two. For example if you had butchered one beefy boy and got a new steer. One big one small. They always jave a partner and for grass fed it seems people butcher at 18 to 24 months. Just a thought.
Great progress; thanks for sharing! Those piglets are still so darling; love how that one went running back in when you brought their feed! Blessings to all🤗💜🇨🇦
pick up some pig ring it work good , lucky in candler next time you in Candler stop at the Feed store got a lot of stock just past NAPA prats house like all the show thank you all
You should not have separated all the baby chicks from the turkeys. Always put some chicks in with the turkeys for the first few weeks so they teach the turkeys how to feed. The baby chicks can eat the turkey starter fine.
