Turks are very serious about their country, you can make joke about their Technology, soccer etc. But don't do that about their nationality, country and flag. Respect and love them!
No, this is something important. Your ancestors died to liberate your country. You should take this seriously. After World War I, the Turks were under the occupation of Italy, England, France, and Greece. Our ancestors and Atatürk fought a great war for independence and expelled the enemy. We should respect this and nothing is more important for the Turks than independence.
The Turks actually give them some form of protection for the swede in their territory when they(the swede king Charles the XII) lose horribly to the Russian Tsar Peter The Great. And later he encourage the Sultan to attack the Russian empire, the Ottomans th(e)n did that and won. So there's that, but(plot twist) the Ottoman general who wins the war is just very dumb, instead of capturing Peter The Great who commanded the defeated Russian army. He accepted the peace treaty that have relatively easy term for the Russian, also Charles XII and his remaining army safely returned to his homeland. The rest is history.
@@sinistertertius1442 That's half true. The Sultan and the Generals didn't like Charles the XII. They also a few year back had peace with Russia so the Sultan didn't want war. If they declared war on Russia, It would be one sided. The ottoman army was crappy. It's equipment and Guns sucked. They had nothing else to do.
@@TacticalAnt420 I'm not him but I do feel like it's hard for some people. I'm from the UK for example, where I spend almost every day being laughed at and ridiculed online and get called a nationalist and imperialist for having any sort of positive sentiment towards my country's history and our schools are extremely liberal and drill nothing but shame into us about it. I will never not be an oppressor it seems. I am proud of my country, and love my country, but just making a point that people actively go out of their way to make it difficult.
@@KieraMeow I mean the UK did some bad stuff m8… you can be proud without celebrating the British Empire but any good nationalist would recognize that the empire was bad and I’m glad the stuff is taught at schools. In Canada, we definitely don’t talk enough about how badly we treated the first nations…
@@TacticalAnt420 99% of countries did bad shit. We're in a comment section about Turkish pride.. so what we gonna say to the Armenians and Greeks? Not sure what good bringing that up did other than further the point I was making in the first place. Anyone with a heart can recognise the terrible things that were done, but that's the only thing that seems to matter, I'm not allowed to have pride.

I remember when I was in istanbul on the last day of Ramadan with my mom and there was a group of old men walking in the street singing this song and wearing ottoman military outfit. My mom and I were very impressed. It was so beautiful. And now seeing this reminds me of my mom who recently passed away
yes true, but name is Mehter Marşı (mehter song). And lyrics aren't "ceddin deddin" it is Ceddin Deden, means like ancestor progenitor :Dd respects from Turkey
it is not a march from ottoman era. true ottoman marchs were lost because mahmud 2 disbanded janniserries and mehteran band is a jannisery group. so most of songs are lost with this event and this song is not survived one . this is too nationalist song for ottomans.
@@blazer9547 no they were not , whomever told you that ,have told you a lie, that's Serbian propaganda ( Christian in general), however later in history and just before Ottoman empire fell apart they fought for Bosnian independence from Ottoman, and that was mainly because of Turkish corruption and greed. if you need some history lessons pls let me know,I will be more then glad to enlighten you!
Mehter is the music band name. There is so much song form this band. That one called "Ceddin Deden". There is also "Plevne" and "Sultan Abdülhamit Han Marş" with good melodies. Try to listen them.
As a Tunisian you should be proud that the Tunisian flag had been adopted even before that of Turkey. Not that it's similar. Sincerely another Tunisian.
@@eaxu But the only Ottoman flag that had the crescent and the star was adopted in 1844. Tunisia has had the same flag since 1831, and before that there was the Hafsid Sultanate that also used a flag with a star and a crescent. Furthermore, the crescent symbol dates back to Ancient Carthage. Do not get me wrong, I got here because I'm passionate about Ottoman history, I love Türkiye and I'm actively practicing Turkish with my Turkish friends. But belittling your own country's history and saying that you're "proud" of your flag being "similar" to that of another country, I found that to be insulting. I appreciate your other comment and again no hard feelings.
what is türkiye? ahhh you mean göcmenistan? 13 million refugees and an islamist who sells his country to arabs as a leader, you call this nationalism? türkiye has nothing to do with patriotism anymore. full of islamist trash who bring in 10s of millions of refugees.

What a great atmosphere. Ceddin Deden is a military march, but very, very impressive. Our ancestors fought wars for centuries... (I'm glad we don't have to anymore!). Among all our historic enemies, the ottomans, I consider to be the most reliable and respectable of all.

When the Turks went to war, the marching band would band at the forefront and playing music. The reason for this was to intimidate the enemy and make them feel like they had outnumbered soldiers. In many wars, it is said in the history books that when the enemy soldiers heard the music, they fled before the war even started. That's why Turks gave great importance to war music. In addition, every war was a feast for the Turks and preparations were made as if they were going to a wedding.
