500+dollars is not cheap. But I will say I found similar versions of the wheel and battery sold separately. All for about $245US dollars, but thanks for the idea.

I'm going to use this motor on my recumbent. I will examine the battery pack and seek guidance on how to add a back up motor so I get more mileage from my trike. I'm partially paralyzed all the way down my left side and I've had 4 heart attacks in 2019. I refuse to give up on not being able to taking care of myself if I can come up with ways to get around so I can do my own shopping. I grow a lot of my own vegetables and enjoy eating healthy salads and making great tasting soups. Live life to the fullest because we only get one life to live.
@Made Right America: Hi dude, there's no reason to give up the things you've been interested in and making trips with your recumbent bike is reason enough to live. Add some batteries, because ten batteries are much too little. The recumbent is aerodynamically better and even better a velomobile would be, but they're expensive! There are videos of a crazy german guy going everywhere with his velomobile, like from Germany to Spain (2000 miles). You'll have to fill your recumbent with batteries or you'll be stuck on hills! Keep on riding!
Well everyone else has said it, but I'll say it anyway: this is how to make a demo vid. No fluff, disco music, self aggrandisement or padding. Good job. As for the product, you make it look easy to fit but just a 9 mile range is way too little for me.
Well I guess the battery pack is too small and that could be the limiting factor. Given the size and easy of installation I think this is not a bad, but I also think that it could be sold cheaper though.
Didn't even know this existed! I lost my license due to my loss of vision 2 years ago and I bought a bike but never use it (I'm too out of shape) but this could be my new alternative to driving. Thanks for sharing!

Price has changed dramatically since this went up. Any price they might say will quickly become wrong. At which point you same dudes come back to say wrong price. Truly no pleasing some people.
But the simplicity and the freedom of no battery bar on a stock bicycle. That's not bad. Maybe it could be redeveloped to store a nicer Battery in the same space. Regardless I just need something to take me 3 miles to work and 3 miles back. It's uphill one way but that's why I need the motor 😂.
@@frankcoble4052 pretty much. First few days it wouldn't load but still accelerate then loading worked again but acceleration never did. Disassembled the thumb throttle and fiddled with it to no avail. There wasn't much electronics in there so I imagine the main brains are in the wheel. I didn't look inside the wheel cause I have no confidence that I could understand what I d see there plus I m still riding on it (without power).
@@BeardedSkunk You're correct about the "brain's" location. Unfortunately the hub motor/electronics module doesn't come sealed against weather. The "excuse" provided by distributors is that doing so would cause the "unit" to overheat.

Not worth it for the price. If you shop around you can get a kit with a stronger motor from amazon and higher amperage batteries from ebay (without the plastic shell) and a bike bag from anywhere to hold the battery. $400 CAD or $306 USD
Unless you have a plastic fork, or plan on stunt riding it I wouldn't worry about this weak motor breaking a bamboo fork. What I would worry about is the bike having a 5 mile range and frying the pathetic battery by drawing too many amps. If you want a cheap toy ebike shaped object than this is the kit for you. But if you want a nice ebike that has enough speed, power, range, durability, and reliability than you're going to have to pony up the money, or learn how to build your own battery packs. Pro tips 1. Research RU-vid and endless sphere until your eyes nearly bleed. 2. Don't even consider anything under 48 volts unless you weigh less than 130 lbs or are using a mid drive set up. 3. The battery is the most important component to spend money on. Get the best you can afford. Em3ev makes the best packs in the industry. 4. Don't forget about brakes, you will burn through brake pads at a dizzying rate. Grin technology's sells a geared clutchless mac hub motor that has regen, highly recommended, very reliable, and will save on brake pads. 5. Upgrade tires, charger, and controller last after ironing out all the bugs in your build. Follow these steps and you will have an ebike that will blow pass anything that is sold in stores, let alone this toy kit in this video.
@@sdnlawrence5640 I'm going to spend the winter learning how to make a RU-vid channel. Because next spring I plan on riding my improved build across the United States pulling a bicycle trailer with my dog riding on it. I'm not the most internet savvy person around. I have a lot to learn, but if I taught myself how to build an ebike then how hard can it be right. I plan on installing a second mac motor one of those clutchless motors I mentioned. I also still have to upgrade my connectors to xt60 water resistant ones and my controller. A lot can be learned about building ebikes on RU-vid and on a forum called endless sphere. It takes a lot of research, but it is critical to do otherwise you will be stumbling around in the dark and wasting a lot of money. Check back on me by April to see my RU-vid channel and if all goes well then I should have a few videos posted by then.
@@thedevilsadvocate5210 I don't know how to post links but Google grin technology's, also em3ev for batteries there's a long wait and about $200 in hidden fees ie transporting hazardous materials for shipping, customs fee, and about a 6 week delivery time. Barring that you can save on customs fee by ordering from luna cycle but they're kinda hit and miss about whether that the have the battery you want in stock. Hope that helps you.

Thanks for this review, it’s the only decent informative video. But you never mentioned hill climb how long battery last before needing a charge and if it can still be ridden with battery off. But besides these a great informative video. Also can you remove the tire around the spokes of the battery wheel and put your own tire on the spoke of battery wheel?
Im in the east of the uk..we just had some pretty heavy rain..i had to come home from work in a heavy downpour and i was absolutly soaked...wheel was awesome and didnt miss a beat....Best thing ive bought this year easily :)

For anyone interested i have this motor for two years now over 3000km done. It used to have 17km autonomy with pedaling. Now the battery only gives 8km. Great value
@@erackauskas4941 You can buy a separate battery and run a xt-30 connector to the wheel since the inner portion where the battery is connected doesn't spin.
So this is a 21v max battery pack, 4.2 max charge per parallel pair, 21 seems very underpowered for a supposed 36v hub motor? I see no boost converter to step the 21v max available voltage to 36v.
@@mashedpotatoes5323 in that case that's the most unsuitable pack I've ever seen, the cells must only have about 20 minutes runtime,the battery is just a power placebo, it's a good job that the batteries are on the front wheel and not under your nuts as there is a good chance it's going to end in flames.

Do what I did . Stay off the drugs. Took me a few months to get the money. But for eleven hundred pounds . I've got a 30mph or 45kph depending where you live. Well made bike, and fast enough. Can be switched to road legal with a wire switch. Just set yourself a goal. Helped me.
This kit looks like the best way to go to build a quad-shopper. Two bikes welded side by side with side by seats for my old sweety and me...a bit of a basket in back for the grits. The grocery store is only one mile from where I live.
I bought a few spare batts, always carry a fully charged one in my bag. You get about 2 hours on constant riding, if you're spending the day, making short trips, it can last you the day. The spare batt I carry is in case it runs out on the way home.

I bought my Lectric XP in January 2020 to get rid of excess weight. I ended up losing 77 pounds, and my legs are like tree trunks. I have 2 batteries and have travelled 65 miles round trip. I currently have 2400 miles on my ebike. Life is great... or, was great. Last week, at 2400 miles, the bike broke down electronically. Left me stranded, twice. Had to walk home several miles. Lectric company says it’s still under warranty, but will take a long time to get the part needed to fix. Coming from China and from I got from the tech, this prob is happening to thousands of Lectric bikes. So, I stop riding for how long? A month, maybe2 or 3.... I don’t think so. I am going to buy another bike from another brand cuz this one is no longer reliable. It’s just taking up space in my bike barn. The unfortunate part is I just finished building my solar bike barn so my bike is propelled by sun and keto... I hope Lectric realizes that my warranty is on pause until it is fixed. They can’t take a month or several months and expect the warranty to keep running. So, if u want this bike, I totally recommend it. Just have secondary transportation and Uber on stand by. P.s. no public transportation where I live. ur on ur own here
@@byjuu246 so you could find it on Amazon or eBay but the kit I ordered ended up not coming with a battery so make sure you find one that comes with the battery just look up electric bicycle wheel they got 36 and 48 volt don't know the price difference but the 36 volt does 23 mph and the 48 does like 35 but I think that's 2 fast for a bicycle lol sorry I took me so long to respond
I've heard that these imortor kits have alot less torque than the regular build it yourself kits roughly 5-10 nm vs 40ish nm ( Newton meter ) do you have experience with other ebikes to comment?
The DIY hub motor kit I have tried to throw me through the intersection, I barely pedaled forward to get closer to the stop sign and the pedal assist was like “nah, this guy clearly wants to do a wheelie!”. Haha, DIY motors definitely have insane torque compared to this one reciewed, hands down, no question about it!** **mine was more expensive, $220 for everything but bike and battery, the low spec battery the video shown would instantly catch fire on anything nearly as powerful. That battery should be like $60, which is why the kit shown in video are so cheap, but not great value since even $160 bike kits are 1000w in everything from the common 26 inch mtb to 26-4.5 inch or 20-4.5 wide fat bike tires (I’ve also got one of those fatbike kits but I need to find a good deal on a used bike). The big question is what is legal (or that you can get away with). If you’re stuck with 250w, skip it! I already average 28 mph over a 30 mile course with just pedals on my normal road bike, and the 250w motors as you saw here too out at less than 20 mph, so they will only slow you down as the windings are not “geared” or wound for high rpm (they are optimized for low rpm and higher torque). But if you can get 1kw motor, then that’s the way to go! I can actually go much higher where I’m at due to a weird legal loophole (in Texas, it’s 20mph without pedaling, but if you are pedaling, since they don’t want you to be going slower than on a normal bike and slowing traffic, then they have no speed max for ebikes and that’s where the loophole is because they don’t have a power limit either! So sometime I’ll do 2 motors and bump my max speed from 30 mph on normal bike to a decent 50 mph for commuting to work and not holding up traffic).
Really slow? I averaged 28 mph during a 30 mile road race just on a pedal bike... A trike would be about like a children’s “power ride on” lawn toy. Go for some different motors! I’ve have a 1200w rated motor on my road bicycle now (hoping to hit 50 mph at least, might go duel wheel drive). 3 of those would be a fun amount of power (pedal assist basically tries to kill you, remove it or you’ll end up trying to pedal a couple extra feet to a stop sign and the motor decides “nah, you want to do a wheelie!”, lol! I just use the thumb throttle after that...). That still didn’t mean later that day I didn’t modify the current measure shunts, haha, you can always use more power! (I believe it said around 1700w peak for takeoff, but with the soldering change I did it should allow around 40 amp continuous at “48v” and unknown for peak, the 12 power mosfets were rated for 100-120 amps each though I couldn’t find their voltage-current charts). I also tested with some of my race quadcopter batteries (my miniquad uses 35 amps per motor on 5 inch props, so up to 140 amps at full throttle total from a 1.5 Ah battery, obviously anything but high end LiPo batteries will catch fire after a few seconds of that), so even though 1.5 Ah 12 cell LiPo at 48v doesn’t seem like it would deliver the power, it can long enough for testing and having it launch across the yard fast enough it only takes about 2 seconds to stop and go get your helmet, lol! So you could use those if you wanted to keep the weight down for doughnuts in the parking lot. Most cheap $160 kits (without battery) will have 1000w motor, so one of those alone will push way more power than 3 of these (and speed, they are also higher voltage). They are cheaper, and extremely simple to connect just like this, the difference is the battery is mounted on the frame and allow customization options.

aaaaaaand a whole covid friendly year later (without income for 2yrs, how did I survive) I have a wheel that takes a nut that fits perfectly & tightens on one side but doesn't seem to be the same thread on t'other side. Oh dear. Anyone know what the wheel hub nut size should be??? I'm nearly there tho, I found my short hex nuts, the wheel motor works, battery charges, thumb controller, lights on everywhere & APP also works! woohoo. Soon be slowly feeling the breeze.
Lol, Only good part about this is the throttle extender, I wouldnt touch a hub motor my self, Would only bother wid mid motors, But for some people this is perfect, Battery aint very good tho, Little shop journeys an too keep fit aswell as having a motor yeah it could work, Still tho i would only bother with mid motors....
only 1P - (1 set of 10 batteries in series) so not much power, or for very long. most 36v ebikes will have 3, 4 or 5 times the battery amount/capacity, so this unit will not run for long.
Motor seems nice, should be afficient with that big diameter, but battery on that kit is a joke. You could buy multiple batteries and swap them but question is, do you wanna cary additional stuff or just go and ride. This kit wouldnt even get me to work and back single time, while my actual diy battery can do it whole week without charging.

Have you tested another battery on this motor? I left my bike on the rain and it damaged the battery I’m having trouble replacing it. The link on the bio is out of stock. I’m trying to figure out if I can buy another different battery or if I need this specific battery. Please help
Oh i love this e bike kit its amazing, i would say i love it because, at the same time i can pedallin without disturbing the motor infront because it is independently working the motor on the front wheel while the other one is on the rear. You can pedalling on the rear wheel. and the most of it you can off the motor while pedalling on the level road which you can save the power battery. Sir would you share the web site? ....to where this stuff to buy?
Strange they use reversed XT60 on the battery. It should be easy hack though to use a larger external auxiliary battery on this for longer rides. Is it possible to upgrade to twist throttle?
The battery located on the front hub is not going to last long in a wet country like the U.K. Water will eventually get into the battery particularly where it plugs into the motor terminals.
Worse: I hit the rain once with that thing and that destroyed it. It was a pretty heavy rain granted and I'm pretty sure I used it in light showers before. My battery is still fine, it's the electronics inside the wheel that gave up. I'm still tempted to buy another one and just not ride it in a storm. Worked great for a year or two here in the German climates.
@techydiy - Thank your for your review. Does this unit work without PAS or break bensors? What is your experience with the range. The capacity has from my point of view something between 70Wh and 100Wh (1P10S with 18650 with ~2500mAh each). Is this right? This is not much compared to conventional ebike conversion kits with 300-400Wh batteries. What do you think?
I have an iMotor and it works fine except that I've had issues getting the app to work. I've not taken it on a long ride but was wondering if there would be a way to add more batteries to the system. Bring a wire out of the plug in battery case with a plug that would connect another battery that could be hung or mounted to the frame. It seems reasonable but I've got minimal electric knowledge.

I took some measurements of my road bike wheel and the full size of the tyre/wheel is 26inch so I guess this e-wheel will fit however last question to you is how much clearance is needed between the bike forks? I took measurements of my forks and it is showing 100mm or 10cm. Do you think this e-wheel will fit? Or is my bike fork width is too small? Thank so much once again.
