What !!! Your grandma had a pc with DDR4 ram and Intel i5 7th Gen cpu ? Was your grandmother not a gamer perhaps ? I have a pc with still DDR3 ram and I am not even that old yet.
haha, when you said Old, I thought you was talking about core dual 2 or a AMD A3 or older than that. Core i5 is very popular with the pc gaming without emulators. now if you made a beast from core i3 or older, that would be bad a$$. the core i5 is too common to run pc games and emulators.
Got this to work well on my Dell Optiplex 3050 after updating my bios via the Dell Command Update application. I put RetroBat on a 256GB USB 3.1 drive, so it’ll be nice to have a small, portable library. I’m ecstatic!
Sorry about ur grandma but I use lunchbox and I'm happy with it. But yeah that pc u have all u need now is a dedicated graphics card and u good. I recommend Nvidia 1650 low profile or and Radeon RX 550 and you'll be able to play original Xbox Xbox 360 and more higher end systems.
I got Dreamcast working fine. I got PS1 working fine. Xbox original I got working after adding bios. PS2 I have to use Pcsx2 and found bios. Gamecube I have to use Dolphin emulator n found bios. I want them all on one thing but oh well lol
Do you mean you have to run those emulators outside of retrobat? Because it's totally possible to run them all through retrobat. Or do you mean that you'd rather have them all run through retroarch? In that case, yeah, you gotta use standalone emulators for a few things, which is a bummer.
Where to change render to SOFTWARE? I forgot where it's located. I need to change it because I'm installing it to an old laptop. The new update screwed up my RetroBat.
Hey brother I used to use Launch box for my gaming system. But problem was whenever I play a game, the game would lose focus and go back into launch box interface. I used them for 6 years and I'm fully paid up lifetime license. Anyway I just got tired of my games losing focus. How is retrobat? When I play a game, the game won't lose focus will it? I also don't need retrobat emulators I have my own emulators setup already. Can I use the emulators I have instead of the ones retrobat provides?
I have a hard time thinking that the same problem you're having with launchbox might happen here. It's a free download so you could always download it, install it, only copy over a few games, and then give it a try. Then you'd know if it's a problem with launchbox or something else going on with your system. And no, you can't use your own emulators EASILY (it is possible, but it's more complicated than just pointing RB to the emulators you want, it requires editing config files). Retrobat comes with all its own emulators and they all work really well, I suggest trying it out before you decide if it's right for you or not.

I created a virtual machine with Castor and wanting a nice simple way to stream my ps3, wii-u, and xbox games to my Odin, love emulation station on my RG351V! Wish I got the pro version of the Odin so I had the space and dual boot Android and have retrobat on my other partition.
Nope, but you can set it to start immediately upon Windows starting up. I have a little mini PC that I use exclusively for emulation and that's what I did with a similar setup

Ur a lifesaver. I ruined my laptop trying to ditch windows cuz it kept messing up my launchbox install. U know it made games lag plus would like go back to the menu launcher and have the game in another window. So I tried to install batocera Linux os. But it killed my laptop. U showed me that retrobat is just like batocera. Thank u! I'll reinstall windows 11 and get retrobat. U the man!
Hey @TechDweeb, I came to this video looking for some pointers on getting a PC set up for emulation. Based on your advice earlier, I think I will still look at grabbing a RP3 and want to set it up streaming from my main PC for systems above Dreamcast/PSP that it does natively. Is this guide still good, since you've mentioned it in some of your other videos? Or is Launchbox better? I am used to tinkering with RP2+, Miyoo, hacked 3ds and the like, but new to emulation on PC. Thanks!
This guide is still good! I much prefer RetroBat over launchbox. Launchbox is alright, but RetroBat is easier to setup, works better as a frontend, comes with the emulators pre-installed, and it's totally free.

Oh really? RetroBat has always worked fine for me. I've done two complete installs from scratch, it comes with all the emulators I need and they all start up just fine.
Hello! awesome tutorial video ! I am running version 5.1.1 and have installed the pre-req direct x and visual runtimes and d/loaded the bios needed. I'm only havin issue with Dolphin launching Wii games in .wbfs format they won't run however, I had success installing Dolphin 4.0.2 separately and they run fine, has anyone ran into the same issue?
Do you have a Tutorial on how to get the screen scrapper you recommended in this working with retrobat? I have it downloaded. Pointing to the retrobat roms files but when I hit scrape now in retrobat I get a error message in a different language. Only thing I can make out is login? I made sure to put in my info I created at Skraper. What could I be missing? Also, I need to add a PSX bios for a game but I do not see that system under the bios folder in retrobat. Any idea? Thanks for your time.
Well I have no idea about your scraping issue. It SHOULD work fine if you have an active account. I think you'll have to hit up google and reddit for an answer to that because I can't replicate the issue and help you out. Sorry :/ But I can help you out with the bios thing. The PSX bios just go in the root level of the bios folder (not into a subfolder).
@@TechDweeb Thanks for the bios info. Nvm. I got the scrapper working. So just to confirm my retrobat Bios folder doesn't have a psx folder in there like the rest of the systems. So if I drop my bios for the PSX into the root of the bios folder in retrobat it should work?
Just curious. Has anyone set this up to run on an arcade with joysticks, trackballs, buttons, ipac, etc? I notice using escape to exit some systems on the keyboard doesn't always work (They do always work with the controller (Start + Select) so.... Hoping someone who' s been there can give me some insight. Thanks
I haven't had much luck with OG xbox emulation. Granted I've only tried 2 games, I could probably try harder and get them working tbh. But it's not a problem with RetroBat. RB is just the front-end, it runs cxbx-reloaded as the xbox backend and you can update it to the latest version.
My grandma left me nothing. But I did just get a bunch of free computers from my job during office clean out. Most are I3 instead of I5 a few are all in one type computers will those still work?
Oh for sure, even an old i3 will run lots of great emulation. I would highly recommend making sure you are running at least 8 GB of RAM and an SSD upgrade is always nice.
RetroBat is basically a windows version of Batocera, if you wanted it to run as an OS you'd want to go with Batocera which is a linux distro based entirely on emulation. I have plans on doing a Batocera video sometime but there are lots of tutorials available out there.
@@TechDweeb You just answered a question that’s been lingering with me with out doing it directly so Retrobat has to be booted for the front end to be accessed? I can’t get this thing to open for nothing on my windows I keep getting this error message ms.dll something and I have to hit enter 4 times for it to go away smh Any help would be appreciated and you have a new sub
Awesome video. Question. I'm trying to change the rom destination folder for different systems using Batgui.exe, but when I save the config file it defaults back to the original rom folder. My rom collection is on a different SSD (D:) and Retrobat program is on main SSD (C:). Not sure why it doesn't save the new destination. For example, I want it to be D:\psx instead of C:\... oms\psx. Thanx
Disregard, I figured it out. I had to manually add the rom path within the es_systems_custom.cfg file using notepad, then save. For some reason the batgui.exe program doesn't save the custom.cfg file.
