Thought about buying one, but instead I bought a metal rail from the bulk metal section of my hardware store and used 2 clamps 🗜 on each end to make cuts. I eventually bought a similar one to your bora at Harbor freight, but The piece of metal was actually better! Lol

Construction work circular saw, home work for precision sawing plunge saw, costs more because it is safer to work than a circular saw. Tools should be purchased according to purpose. Safe work👍

Video should be titled “circ saw guide rail” Kind of missing the point in a track saw ….. it keeps pressure down on your material A-swell stopping chip out by using the same concept as a zero clearance on a table saw . I.e blade is right up against the guide no room for blade movement , also can’t get the wobbles on a track ……

The piont of a track saw is its splinter guide and the guide locks the saw into the track, dewalt now have a circular saw the dcs 576n flexvolt cordless with track rebates in its bed, which can be used on a dewalt track but also other cheaper tracks .😃👍👍👍👍

Very Good thanks, I had to move and broke my heart needed to sell my table saw off as I just didn't have the space and the remote garage I now rent didn't have power so need a cordless saw so gotta a circular instead, so this gadget clearly is the answer 😎👍 By the way in your description on the distance twix blade and (Tray) edge I believe the word you were looking for was 'Baseplate' 😆👍 Cheers!

I've got one of these, but it only goes out to 50" :( useless for 8ft boards which is what I needed it for. They make a 100" version for $100, or a 10" version with a saw holder for $164. I also found out, the compression clamps on both ends tends to warp or bend the material if you clamp it a little too tight...especially with paneling or polycarb. I just went down to my local metal shop and got a 12ft piece of 1.5" x 1/4"" flat aluminum bar and 2 hand clamps for $70 & change. works great, and it molds to warped boards just fine without bending. I also use 2" angle for heavier cuts or if I need to cut flimsy materials like polycarbonate, paneling, or PVC sheeting that needs extra support and clamps

Why would you pay $50 for a 4-foot straight edge? You can rip any old board to do that and even go longer
@brucemullison5346
@brucemullison5346 Месяц назад
I purchased this and deeply regret it. I find it only good for a straight edge now. You have to have your board that you are cutting on a flat surface like a table, not saw horses. The board bows and the saw got caught between it and the piece. Really dangerous situation. So, use a big table. The second problem was the sliding part of the clamp, at 1:30 in the video, gets stuck and difficult to unlock. I have to use a hammer to unlock it now. So this is the main reason I use it as a straight edge.
@jinksyboy

After you make that first cut, measure the distance from cut edge to the straight edge, and that's your offset.

I never seem to run out of dumb questions, but apparently I have run fresh out of shame, so I'll ask anyway. Why couldn't you clamp two of these on your piece, separated by the distance of the sled, and run a saw though that? Wouldn't that actually turn any circ saw into a track saw?

I know when ever I use a straight edge and clamp it on either end the clamps always get in the way of the saw.
@omikeyutube
@omikeyutube 2 года назад
That's exactly what happens with the clamps, they're always in the way of the motor on the saw or something. So then there's an exercise of trying to figure out which way to travel to saw so that I can get past the clamps
@SF-hy7nw
@SF-hy7nw 2 года назад
problem is you can only cut straight - you get chipping - not as accurate - and is not a track saw. This is using a straight edge like everyone has been doing since the invention of a circular saw. Spend the money on a real track/plunge saw - unfortunately the price does suck, but better than this unless you're just a DIY'r who needs 90 degree cuts. I use a track saw for kitchen fillers that go from - for example - 1.5 inches at the top to 1 inch on the bottom.

Just virtual chatted with a BORA rep online. The guide has a limit of 100". That being said, most saws need an additional 5"-7" to start and end cuts. That makes the max capacity 86-90".

This is not a track saw guide. This is called a straight edge. If you use this on a fancy wood door that only needs to be cut 1/8". The plate of the saw will scuff that door bad.

The saw doesn't wander by itself. That's an operator issue. You may want to have a talk with the operator of your saw about why it wanders from the guide so much.
@need100k
@need100k 2 года назад
@@bryanj.9105 - If pushed in a straight line, your material can force it to wander if insufficient INWARD pressure isn't applied. So yes, it can wander by itself whereas with a track saw, the track keeps it perfectly in line with ONLY forward pressure applied. Marie is correct.

I had a nice curves in what I was trying to saw. I will never buy another Bora product. Even they shorter version one piece had a tendency to rise up and let the say slide a little on the inside the track!!!
