Do you wish your airtag could be a card for your wallet? Well, in this video I went ahead and converted an airtag into an air tag card. Throughout this video, I provided a step-by-step process of how to turn your airtag into a card. I also tested it out with several wallets to see how well it could fit in them after reducing the thickness of the airtag.

So you can either fit an airtag card into your wallet and not carry any other cards, or the other way around. Seems kinda pointless

This is a better solution than AirTag on outside of my ridge. It’s annoying bump. I’d rather have even thickness. Going to definitely do this.

Great execution, I’m going to do the same with some minor tweaks. I will use batteries with tabs to make soldering easier and I’ll install 3, maybe 4 batteries into the card

Square is apparently making an AirCard that is compatible within the Apple ecosystem. It’s gonna apparently be 2 credit cards thick, have replaceable batteries, and make a sound just like the AirTag. Preorders are supposed to open pretty soon, you were just off by less than a year.

Yes! I heard this as well, at somepoint it was pretty evident we’d see this coming. Glad to hear it will work with the Apple Find My network, might pick it up after my next battery on my apple airtag card dies. 😅👍

Do the RFID blocking wallets block the signal of the airtag when you put it inside?

That’s a good question. However, it doesn’t block the signal. 😉 I’ve tested the card out in the card chamber for the fidelio and the look a like ridge wallet and it works fine.

Yeah there’s a lot of interesting wallets now for an Apple airtag, but I’d go with the Anovus wallet since I prefer to quickly access my cards when they fan out. That’s just my opinion and I prefer that over pulling them out with a tab or with my finger tips

more info on removing the pcb would be great that is the part I was stuck on before and am still :D

So the best advice I can give you for this part is to heat the airtag from the bottom so the glue can loosen then pry the pcb from the side. In the video you can see me trying to pick it from the center. Don’t do that. Just pry it from the side lightly with some pressure. Eventually it will come off. 👍

Stainless steel can block the signal so I recommend something else such as carbon fiber finish vinyl sticker instead (so it still looks cool)

Yeah plus it does add more weight to the card…but another finish instead of the stainless steel card would be cool. 👍

I do not see how you disconnect the speakercoil from the white plastic. I think that is the difficult part. Also in your video I see a board with no coil. What went wrong? Or dit you connect it again and what did you do with the speaker magnet? Please some info b

I had to reconnect the coil as I did have an issue with it and placed the speaker magnet under it afterwards. I recommend that you take the speaker magnet off right when you open up the cover to the PCB so you don’t have issues reconnecting it.

@@T3CHUP Thanks for the info. I managed to get it out and build it in a 3D printed case. And changed the batteries for two 2430 in parallel. Total 3.4 mm thick. Only the volume is low. Can’t get it loud.

As a matter of fact yes…it eventually stopped working for me. However, I’m still able to track it down with the Find My App so I’ve been using that now to find it.

75% of that dremel work could’ve been solved with a 3D printer. You should look into the CR 10 smart for future projects or the i3 Mega X

The problem for me is that I sit on my wallet when it's in my back pocket. I tried unmodified airtag and I broke the casing while it was in my wallet (yes my ass is heavy). Also it was uncomfortably close to breaking my cards in my wallet since unmodified airtag has a huge bulge. So Apple really should make something as thin as 3 cards, max.

Just by unpeeling the back cover of the airtag card and replacing th battery and then putting the back cover back on. It has held up really well.

If someone is meticulous (re:OCD) enough to do this....why are they losing their wallet ?..... BTW, Apple will have 4 or 5 form factors ready for the Holiday buying season....these are gonna make hot (and inexpensive) gift ideas.....AirTags are one of those "every one could use" items. It's also going to drive people to switch from their Android phone to the Mac ecosystem....another license for Apple to print money 🤑
