Man, this is the first time I've encountered your channel, and not even a minute in I had to pause because that line at 0:26 "I just want to make cool shhhhhsstuff, be excellent to each other, and then fade off into obscurity" sent me into a moment of profound existential contemplation of mortality and the fleetingness of our individual existence in the vast timeline of humanity. I haven't gotten to anything about woodwork yet but judging from that, and the piles of timber in your intro that look exactly like the piles of salvaged timber lying around my place, I think I'm gonna like you a lot.

One word of caution about salvaging wood. I once took a pallet home from work; it had come carrying a machine from Asia. It was a beautiful deep red wood with great grain figure, so I couldn't wait the get a piece of it onto my lathe. The chips came off quite fine, creating a lot of fine dust. I wasn't wearing a dust mask and my nose soon started running; I expecting it would just be clear fluid, like comes during a allergic response, but it was blood flowing from my nose, quite heavily! It seems that there are some species that can really get you in trouble!
@jonathanljohnson
@jonathanljohnson 11 месяцев назад
@@dainermade It took me a minute to clear my sinuses, but as soon as the dust was gone, it was over, no lingering effects. I read later there are several species that can induce bleeding like this, but it was a real surprise to find it out first hand and without warning!

It has actually been a trend dating back to early journalism - just sensationalized/misleading titles to trigger people’s curiosity. Like ‘Every car owner should do THIS if they’re smart’ or ‘I don’t know why more people aren’t doing THIS’. When I go to RU-vid, I like to curate my own experience. When people are vague about what they’re posting just to get me to watch… just feels dishonest. There are plenty of hugely popular folks out there that just do what they do. Doesn’t happen all at once. You have a great vibe and will definitely find more and more success without gimmicks. Cheers

I've gotten upwards of 30 pallets and crates of various sizes and types mostly broken down and de-nailed/staples, and other sh!t, and stuffed, around my outdoor shed. I could easily fill a 10' × 16' shed with lumber of various types (Roughly 3.04M × 4.87M shed).. And didn't cost me a dime, except for getting off my arss, something I already needed to do and get moving and doing/accomplishing something. My wife loves the cool stuff I've made her. Hey I love the videos mark, Does pallet wood warp after a glue up ? Or does this not happen due to the small pieces ?

In my experience I've done bit with pallet wood they don't tend to warp or least mine haven't anyway glued up onto legnths to make slab style you'll get little expansion and contraction but ave had no major issues. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
