I did it to my 2015 BMW X1 E84. You don’t have to replace the idrive. Built in wired and wireless CarPlay functions. Also you could do screen mirroring for RU-vid and Netflix.

@@reinoldg no problem whatsoever. Even the back camera works well. You just have to make sure you have your phone WiFi on for connectivity.
