Hey we ended up with about 35 kept two females but all in all when we switched over to brown ace we were catching 2-3 in each trap all over 5 inches

Saving that one for after major dental work is finished. Did that video less than 24 hours after getting 4 teeth pulled. Lol! That thing measures specific gravity (salt content).They say crabs only like a tiny bit of salt, between 3 and 15 parts per thousand. Lets see if that's true.

Yep, that's what I started with too. Eventually moved to a refractometer then a digital salinity probe. Now days my reef tank is just a very healthy outbreak of aptasia anenome.

My cousin had the great fortune of living in Guilford, CT. He bought his first car with his crabbing money. I’ve never had the pleasure of crabbing because I was too busy fishing.

@@tasaman depending on where you live you might be able to catch mud bugs (crawfish). I love me a huge tray of spicy mud bugs.

Thanks! People were only catching small spot while I was there. Plum crazy was one of my few checklists items that I actually managed to get when I ordered it. Longest 6 months of my life waiting for delivery. Lol

Crabbing in NJ is nuked from all of the nitro fertilizer runoff flooding into the bays creating algae. The crab meat now tastes green

Ah, that question has been bothering me for awhile. What to do when the season ends. There really isn't much "Crabbing" content I can do between November until just after mothers day. I did a video just before mother's day this year and caught nothing. I did post a video of my 2 week trip to Texas, but that was all fishing lake Houston. I think I'll just have to put things on hold until then unfortunately.

Yo bud, that used to be a swimming hole, look for the concrete walls/ foundation & hit near them especially where it opens up in to the main creek, that used to be very good for 2 dozen at hi tide

High tide/incoming tide was definitely better. I was actually surprised it was an actual cove. I've been to many places that just have cove in the name but aren't really coves.

@slingshotcrabbing seems like that placehas always been something of a crab nursery due to the shape even when the swimming pool was there but produced good sizes

Great video But 4 1/2 inch crabs are not even worth keeping Too small for the little meat that you get from them. 5 1/2 inch and up. Those are the ones you want to keep at least. You get some good meat out of them. It's a shame to kill them little ones let them grow.

I agree, if I was only steaming or boiling them. Small crabs are way better for spaghetti sauce or gumbo though. They add more flavor because you can pack more in while simmering. I also think they taste better, Like eating veal. 😁
