I used to sculpt in my 20s. But never could do anything with the end result so I threw them away. Most studios taught pottery so I never developed this talent. I eventually gave up. That was almost 30 yrs ago. Watching your videos, I see resolutions for all my previous barriers. I’m excited to start up again. I will definitely check out your website and courses.

you definitely should! sculpting is difficult and takes time to learn but I think most people would be surprised how fast they can improve with good instruction and focusing on the right things when developing the sculpture. My grandma always gave the excuse that she couldn't do art because one of her kids swallowed a paint tube when he was little. Her youngest moved out over 50 years ago. She's 95 and still hasn't gotten back into it and deeply regrets it. Creative people have to make time for creativity or else the time just passes and we wish we would have done more.

hi and thank you for the amazing content. based on your experience can you please tell me what is the most light weight sculpture medium? joint compound is very heavy so i am looking for the most light weight alternative while i want to keep that outer matt effect that joint compound or putty give. can you please guide me? much appreciate it. thx@@AndrewJosephKeith

@@smartfreelancer-dp2qd foam clay is a lightweight sculpting material. I haven’t used it much but I’ve seen people do cool things with it.

Hebel is an alternative. It's aerated cement blocks. It's ver soft you can saw it, rasp it, even scrape off layers with a spoon. Another thing to mention is that you can sculpt in say oil based clay then cast it in something else, and you can cast it hollow to make it have a far lighter weight. You can even do it in fibreglass.

Brilliant ! The moment I saw the sculpture. Such a perfect piece that says everything about it. A well presented demonstrated video, (as all your videos are). I thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done. Robert (UK)

A lovely piece. Lovely figure, and the birds are great too. Chickens are surprisingly unique looking creatures which we sometimes lose appreciation for because of their “ordinariness”.

it's just some black sheets I got from Walmart ($20) and some hardware from the dollar tree to hang them up on some curtain hangers I mounted in my studio space. Then I use some cheap soft boxes that I got for $100 on eBay for the lighting setup.

This was a commissioned sculpture. For a unique original sculpture that price isn’t unreasonable. Also in a gallery setting that price is not that high (depending on the gallery)

Hi thx for a great video.....just wondering , when do we need to remove armature before firing it....seems like you fired it with armature inside still?
@AndrewJosephKeith
@AndrewJosephKeith 9 месяцев назад
This clay (polymer clay) can be baked in a normal oven and can be baked with the armature inside. ceramic clays cannot be baked with armatures inside.

Step 1 - Make sure you're born and live in a country where people have enough expendable income to spend a 1000$ on handmade luxury items. Step 2 - Learn a craft skill. Any skill. Or don't learn a skill. Just make something - slime, pencil drawing, poor liquid mental into ant hill - anything. Step 3 - Get rich. (Optional) Step 4 - Make videos for the whole world to learn about your entrepreneurship.
