Hi! I just watched SUV RVing and saw the video. Loved this and your simple setup. Been contemplating placing plywood in the rear of my '16 Outback but I like the mattress better. I want to disperse camp mainly in the Sierras as I like to fly fish and was wondering what you recommend to research the Sierras for disperse camping. Many thanks for doing the video. I'm taking some of your ideas starting with the mattress and your clothes storage.

Thanks for the tour! If you are able to park near a tree or sturdy post, you can make a "dog run" for your dog by running a line from your car to the tree or post, then attach your dog's leash to the line. It's a great way to provide room for the dog to run without you having to run with the dog. We used to tie our dog's chain to our clothesline which serves the same purpose. To keep the leash/chain from twisting around, use a swivel hook to attach the chain/leash to the "clothesline".

@@cathyschwartz7026 You are absolutely right in that "not all dogs run away". The reason I posted my suggestion was simply because Courtney said, **"I usually keep a little longer leash when we are at campsites so she can run a little more free. She's not a well-trained dog so she can't be off-leash."** Perhaps you missed her comment @11:21 Hopefully, her dog will be very well-trained in the future and Courtney will feel as confident as you that, "She's fine."

However, IF I can ever wean my husband from our Springbar tent (which is very nice, but not as easy as suv camping), I would love to see some places that Courtney suv camps in California! I recently went to Niagara falls in my 2017 jeep compass trailhawk with my pup :) im 6'2" so i was slightly uncomfortable but not bad lol. I bought a couple sun shades from the dollar store and made shades to fit in each window. We camped out in a casino parking lot right nearby lol. In my kit i have a small air compressor and tire patch kit so i can repair any flats on the road (very easy to use) as well as a battery jumper / charger. Both are very small, easy to use, and clutch in an emergency. Nice set up and enjoy

Like this beautiful woman, we are not full timers but we do have a van that we would like to take out camping. The only difference is, we will need to configure something so that we can also have our bikes in the van with us (they are our "babies" and they do not "sleep" outside of the van). Thanks for this Tristan. Just bought a 2018 Rav 4 AWD with some ground clearancefor exactly this purpose. Hoping to start with three or four days while I figure it out and maybe get up to four weeks later as I learn more. Based in Missouri but want to see much more of our country especially out west. Mostly hope to miss a lot of winter snow in Jan/Feb time frame by seeing the desert areas. I will never be able to do the monster hikes you do for health reasons, but hope to see a lot with car camping and short hikes of mile or less. Newly Updated Safety Suggestions; I just happened to see your channel, and others similar channels recently, and I think that you, and others sharing their actual reality, and some have expressed some of the up, and down sides to van, RV, or vehicle living. I believe that it is very helpful, and beneficial to others who may be thinking about this type of living without actually thinking through, about the some of the realistic problems that could occur with vehicle or van living etc... People need to know what up sides there are, as well as some of the down sides of vehicle living. I believe this channel, and other channels have been informative to others, including myself. Although, I am NOT living in a vehicle or anything like this. I feel that you , and others RU-vidrs sharing this with your viewers will be very helpful. I wish you ALL the Best with your traveling endeavors. I shared this with another traveler as I watched their RU-vid channel for the first time, as yours, and I shared with them this information that may be helpful to you as well to others. Therefore, I would also like to suggest a few Safety tips, and items that may help you, or others in your viewing audience. Although, you may have knowledge of this already, I am not sure, so I hope this will be helpful to you, others or someone. *Keep a Extra working cellphone with you or in your vehicle. You can purchase inexpensive phone with a very low monthly price between 25, 35, 45, dollars a month with unlimited data and text, and some have Nationwide coverage Do your research for the best fit for you Carry Several Extra portable phone chargers, and cables. Consider theses items: *Mini portable power charging station. I have also seen outdoor portable solar powered power stations, that can be recharged from sunlight this may be very useful to have, to power your devices. *Invest in a Cellular signal booster for outdoor use, and camping situations to boost or amplify your cell signal and reception. Research to see what you prefer. *Very Inportant: Invest in a SOS distress electronic signal device, this a kind of device can send out a distress signal with your exact location. There are various types of these devices, and including signal that can be used when boating or camping situations. There is also the Satellite communication devices, that can provide SOS emergency signal and GPS, and provide satellite text messaging capabilities anywhere. *Some have emergency Strobe lights SOS signaling with location alerts, and location updates that can be sent to your family, and emergency first responders. Some can be synchronized with your smart watch or phone. You can check online, and on Amazon, research what SOS emergency GPS devices will be a good fit for you. *Mini portable vehicle battery jumper charger *vehicle battery jumper cables *Vehicle Jumper cables *Keep a Fire extinguisher handy Smoke, and Carbon monoxide detectors can be helpful... *Mounted Dashboard camera front and rear possibly. Exterior vehicle cameras Interior vehicle cameras *Flashlights or pluggin spotlights *Portable spotlights, and lanterns Keep a few whistles around with you, and in your vehicle possibly in your vehicle’s center console *A set of long range 2 way radios, walkie talkies, to communicate with others during trips, some have 100 mile radius keep for emergencies. Use your own discretion regarding the use of any weapons. Don’t forget to bring Bear Spray Pepper spray Where is allowed If you own a drone you can use it to survey your area for animals etc. However, Please Be Safe and Beware of your Surroundings. Stay Alert, and Be Safe even when stopping at Rest stops, Truck Stops, and conducting your various tasks. Keep in often contact with your family, friends etc. Although, I just noticed your RU-vid channel, and other similar channels. You seem Very Aware of your surroundings and Alert, and you may be aware of many of these suggestions, however, I Don’t know, so I just posted this anyway to help anyone who may benefit from these suggestions. Keep up with the latest Weather Updates, beware and prepare for unexpected Weather events and conditions. Keep your vehicle gas filled Don’t chance your Safety by running your vehicle fuel or gas too close to Empty. Fill it up anyway, it will save you alot of time, and headache later on. Remember to keep up on routine maintenance, check your tires for wear, keep up with your fluids for your vehicle, like oil levels, washer fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze. Remember Because you are on the road riding for sometimes very long distances, and long periods of time, I would suggest investing in 2 sets of tires, and a spare, the extra set to rotate. Check the mileage ratings on your tires they all very. Conduct visual inspections of your tires often, check for damage, wearing, air pressure, etc Keep a pressure gauge to check your tires pressure and a tire pump. Keep towing insurance to Be Safe if you ever need it. It Doesn’t cost much try to get National coverage if available, or where you will be traveling. Keep Extra financing, and savings for any unexpected issues, vehicle repairs, and overnight stays, in a emergency or if you need to rest indoors. Keep Enjoying Yourself, Keep Enjoying the outdoors, and Nature Just..Please continue to Be Positive, Safe, and Alert.. Wishing Success, Well-being and Happiness You All. What part of the Southern Basin of the Sierra Nevadas are you from? I used to live in Auburn, CA (Placer County) in the Sierra Foothills...now retired to Twin Falls, ID where we have A TON of free campsites!

Man I wish I could sleep straight though.... I gotta go diagonal and it really inhibits storage/leasure space... Luckily I found stacking locking wheeling tool chests by "hart" at waltonland. Bout 100 bucks but definitely beats the lose lids and stuff. Easier to stay clean and such. Probably would have done ammo boxes instead, but metal is heavy and gas ain't cheap Also, lady, please, calm down. You talk like someone's putting a gun to your head and they aren't, I hope... Please calm down...

What a very simple but great set-up! It is always a wise choice to invest in good quality products. Thank you for sharing ❤ I just have one question about your toilet wipes: Are they really compostable or is their some microplastic fiber in it? Please overthink your choice if it is the latter 🖖🌎🙏

Try some adhesive shelf liner such as a dark brown wood grain on those white plastic tops.

Lived in the High Sierra for 7 years after 10 in Reno. Love to camp but getting older . Have an suv and full intensions to set it up. Happy and blessed to meet you. Wish you well, Peggy

Wow! I love her setup becasue its SO SIMILAR to mine. I have a unmodified Honda Pilot. And use it for 2 to 4 days weekend camping. Ice chest, Heatshield is a great product based out of Morgan Hill. I have them as well. Along with an ANKER power bank just to recharge my phone and USB fan. Also Lucy lights is a great option. She sounds like shes from the Bakersfield area. I live in Fresno so I often go to Pismo, or Monterey.

Awesome! Sounds like we have a similar concept. I’m actually up in the Tehachapi Mountains. I live an hour away from Bakersfield. So many amazing places to visit around your neck of the woods as well! 😊

@@citygirlunplugged Yes! I just scribed to your channel :). I just watched your YNP vid. Me personally I cant stand YNP because of the amount of people that go there. Its ridic. Im only 45 min away from it and Ive only gone once and dont care to go back. Im more of Pismo, Monterey, Bodega Bay camper. Im looking into the Lake/Mt Shasta area. And, If I can get over the fear of dusty situations when camping I might do Red Rock or the desert areas during the winter time of course :). Can I make a rec? I just learned this last week?

Its been near impossible for me to find a fitting mattress, they are 70-80 feet long, I need a 60, so I've gone w/ A different mattress, just ordered it, so we will see. The lift for your head would be fine with me, I don't do flat. I like your set up.

Sounds like you're having fun. One idea you might try..... The bottom half of your back seat will left right out. Put it in the house or garage till you get home. That will let the back of the seat lay flat. And will give you a little extra room to put a few things. I do it and love it.
