This is the charger that will be reviewed soon that needed more power: bit.ly/2WarriorGo4Dual
The original information to do this was found here:
www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...
I needed more power to power my Lipo chargers. My 5Amp power supply was not able to do it any more. Being a cheapskate I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it so I found what I think is the cheapest option that will supply all the power I ever need. This power supply goes by a lot of different names, DPS800GB, 403781-001 and 379123-001. This process will work for any of them. They are exactly the same.
If you want to get started in RC drones this is my current recommendation:

(3:20) Always solder one end, then cut to length. You'll be at the exact length when you cut it, and you'll have more to hold when you're making the first connection.
6 лет назад
(6:30) you'll find that easier if you heat the pad then touch the solder to it. and it's not sodder it's soLder
6 лет назад
(12:30) No ... just No... that is a cold solder. To properly solder, you heat the component and add the solder thread to it. You need a much bigger soldering tip to properly work with that size of component. Please don't encourage people to solder the wrong way, you're encouraging dangerous connections and putting people at risk of electric shock. PLEASE STOP Learn how to do it correctly before you endanger other people by teaching them the wrong way.

Hi, thanks for loading this up. my friend gave me an HP 800W months ago but I was too lazy to read RCG to figure out the wiring. your instructions were clear and I was able to solder directly on the pins and get it going in no time. hooked up to a 400W lipo charger and works perfect.

Thanks for the inspiration. Works like a charm, but I realize it could crap out at any moment. I soldered 3 charging leads directly to the tabs. Running three chargers simultaneously at full capacity and it didn't miss a beat. Two 80 watt 10 amp chargers and one 100 watt 10 amp per channel dual charger. I couldn't be happier with it.

you should just drill a small hole through that #2 terminal then use a small metal wire through the hole as if it's a diode or resistor lead though the board. will be a cleaner job. do the same thing with the big connectors. drill through the board and use the nuts to hold it on. no need to solder. or you can solder it way easier.

(i plan on doing this soon, therefore i watch your old video) I guess i will connect thick cables on the contacts an then connect the cable to the desired contacts. and i recommend this too, because soldering wire is always easier than full copper connections.

It probably has gold plated on the terminals both on the ps & the barrel connectors, and also leaving it threaded 'actually' give more contact than grinding it off to a flat lesser surface area. it is the solder that is creating creating the electrical bondage between the both terminals, so more the corrugation the more the surface area.

Only when I activate the psu to get the 12v then the psu cools with its fans. In standby the fans are off and then the psu heats up

I got 2 "DSP-800GB A" I jumper the the 2 2nd pin to verify the fan comes on and it did. However, without the 2 2nd pin jumped I forgot to unplug it and it was plug in over night, the next day it was hot as hell. as it does not have 12v while the 2 2nd pin is jumper, it seem as if the transformer still hums and heat up. can anyone verify this or do I have a bad PSU. thanks in advance.

But only 1000W when running in 220-240V I think. 110-127V is 850W and 100V is 800W. That is what is written in the label. Here in Brazil we have both 127V and 220V pretty much everywhere, but here in my region we use more 127V (220V only in some places). So mine will run in 127V / 850W.

Using this PSU nested inside an HP Z800 power supply case. The power supply for those workstations cost a lot and sucks a lot. So, just re-routed all cabling from the old PSU case to the new PSU. The power supply for the HP Z800 is like a drawer that snaps into place with 3 connectors. So basically making the "DPS-800GB A" feed those 3 connectors. Was quite the pain to join all those cables, but next time I have only some 9 cables to re-solder into the new PSU. And the new PSU is A LOT better and cost 1/3 of the price of the HP Z800 PSU. Would be nice to have a plastic "connector" for this PSU. I wonder if it is possible to print one and add copper contacts...

Hello and thank you for posting this video. II doubt I'm speaking for myself when I say that I am a visual person. Following steps in a blog is a lot more difficult than pausing a video. I do have a problem I hope you can help me with. I have the exact same psu that I am working on. Only differences are that mine is a Fujitsu brand and has one large fan on the end instead of 2 smaller ones. My problem is when wired up the way you demonstrate I only get 5v output and my light, although is green, flashes instead of constantly on. It acts as though the psu is happy, it's just missing a little something. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again

Not sure if it is this exact video but his series covers the topic of floating the ground of the cases of the PSUs. Theres a lot of science behind how this works but its pretty easy to accomplish in reality, just be really careful as you may have to go near some big capacitors.

The "metal to metal contact" that you are talking about at around 9:25 is wrong because the solder is what's making the contact. What you should actually be worried about is the mechanical strength of that connection, because you are going to be plugging things in and out, and solder is not that strong. Edit: you need nowhere near the pressure and time that you used when tinning the banana connector, what you needed there was flux. When done right, solder flows easily and quickly, and by done right I mean bigger flat tips for the soldering iron, and clean surfaces to solder, and that's achieved by using the flux that I already mentioned.

The issue with this is that it's 12v you need 24 volt

just needs a bigger tip for the big stuff. to be honest he should just drill a hole and bolt them to the board.

@@blue03r6 nah, using pressure, dirty tip, wrong tip, not using flux, all of this except the flux is wrong, flux is optional, but it would definitely make his life easier

12v is not sufficient to charge a battery. Ooopsss.😊😊😊

I'm surprised there's no comments about how ridiculously dangerous this is. It's good that you covered the exposed leads at the end but the ones being sold at the link in the description seem like they have giant exposed leads. 800W at 12V is more than enough to kill you. You should at least include a warning in your video, soldering those small wires is to work around a safety feature that is supposed to keep the 12V rail low while it's not plugged into the server.

Hi There is some videos in youtube showing dell or hp psu hot plugs convert to bench power suply. They could run the psu hot plugs by connecting some pins but they just could run them to take a small curent not the maximum curent. Could you please tell me how to run my "hp 2450w hstns-pr16 platinum hot plug" and "hp 2650w hstns-pr42 platinum hot plug" into a bench power suply to take the maximum curent and power? Kind regards Kevin
