Wow, really nice progress! I hope you have been well, Canice. I used to think I was a patient guy, but watching you work in the confines of the boat puts you in a whole other league!
I never thought I had the patience. 🤔Although, I stop working when I get frustrated, or tired or when I run out of ideas. The answer always presents itself the next day. 😂
OMG!!! I can barely tie my shoes and you are off the cuff cranking out awesome modifications on the fly and making it all look so simple its just flat out stunning!!! Sigh! You are my hero!!!! Awesome job Canice.. So much love and oak smells in the air. Cant wait for the next vlog! Nice level rotate and pan!!!!!!
Yes I amaze myself when I start something like this and have no idea what I’m doing and somehow figure it out. I’m becoming quite proficient at drone manoeuvres like that! The drone will do it automatically if I could be bothered to program it!😂😂😂😂
The more honest I am, the longer the video gets…. I’m not sure that’s always a good thing…. 😂😂😂😂 Seriously, I’d prefer people knew I’m no expert for fear they copy my process. 😩
Hi Canice! ‘Lekker’ your ‘basin is gorgeous and we want a ‘thingimijig’ ! What a difference and lining those dowels up was literally’Sorcery’ oh the luck of the Irish!!☘️ pleasurable, Joe & Georgie ⚓️🌹🥰
Love the sink canice. So far it’s my favourite part of your galley ! Can’t wait for you to get a comfy sofa ( if you’re having one!) then you know the end is near !!! X love it love it love it !! X
Barry rules!!! The stove and countertop look beautiful with the sink. I like the position of the hob/burner/oven/stove. It will keep my favorite curtains from catching 🔥 Great job Canice!! I was worried at the beginning when you said you were going to make it easy for yourself. I sensed disaster, sorry it is out of habit 😞 But, you did it. I liked the dowel cutter thing. That was very cool. You have a lot of skills. Please tell me that you don’t have to dismantle the whole thing next week. Have a good week. 😊🤗 Kathy
I do have to dismantle the whole thing to finish it off, but it was part of the plan. However, not for a while. There’s a big and beautiful change coming this week. Even I’m surprised at how it’s turning out. 😂
Canice! It’s looking so great! I’ve been way too busy to keep up with you recently so the progress I see is huge! I love the counter top. Also that sink looks so good.
I knew that stuff wouldn't be wasted; it's great to see it being used rather than dumped! If you're going to stain the oak you'll probably get some resistance from all the danish oil we put on it over the years. I was wondering when the "heavy duty router" was going to put in an appearance! I was impressed a couple of videos back when you hired a van - at my age (over 70) I don't fit the acceptable profile for insurance despite riding around on a 120 bhp motorcycle or two (though not both at the same time). Don't forget to use stainless steel screws in the oak and seal those end grains well - they won't rot but they will discolour with water ingress. Keep going
Hi Barry! Yes, I’m using stainless steel screws throughout the boat. Good to know about the danish oil. I’ve no idea how it’ll affect the staining, but as I’m looking for an aged effect rather that perfection, I’ll be happy with what ever the outcome is! I’m so grateful for the stuff you gave me. I’m getting so much use out of it!😀 Now you’ve inserted an image of a 70 year old with a foot on each saddle and a hand on both throttles…. Is it even possible!😂😂😂😂😂
@@canicebannonTom Killeen who runs the i2i motorcycle academy might try it - having seen what he does on the courses I've attended, nothing would surprise me. But it's not something I'd aspire to. I'd settle for being able to keep up with my son!
@bannon G'day, buddy! I have a prediction that after you've made Linda livable, you'll rework the galley. The amount of effort required to finish off cabinets and drawers around the lumber structure supporting your countertop is HUGE. When your bank account is replenished, you can buy ready-made cabinets with handsome doors, drawers and hardware. You may need to weld a couple of steel braces to take the weight of the sink unit. In the meantime, you could staple a fabric skirt below your counter to hide your pots 'n pans. I think your dinette is already beautiful. Cheers!
One of the advantages of having an old boat, is that I want the interior to also look old. The more flaws in the surface the older it looks!😂😂 It’s a great excuse for having gaps!😂
Looking real good there mate, have you heard of pocket screws?? It’s like your drill & dowel jig but it’s normal screws at a pre cut angle, I suggest getting one it may help with other cabinetry/walls/bed/furniture making 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
I’ve had to cheat and make one pocket screw in the pew. Although, I was just eyeballing it. I’m going to put it on the Screwfix list and get one on your suggestion, as is going to become vital. Thanks for the heads up, Ray!😀
Canice, I don't know why you went to all the trouble of drilling and gluing when all you needed to do was simply stretch the board to length. Oh, maybe you don't have a board stretcher, huh? Lots of hard work here, but it's paying off. The galley and saloon are looking good.
Good to see some carpentering with real tree wood. Getting very domestic now. For nautical superstition, I would have thought a better word would be basin rather than s**k. Greetings from Bali.
I discovered , that my dowels were impossible to pry apart once I put them together as the drill bit I was using was slightly undersized. Except where I had to re drill after my first attempt…😂😂😂
