Great video Joe! As a new turner, I am trying to determine which tools I need to have. I have a couple of AMT tools that I picked up many years ago. They are not the best quality! The skew chisel is a 3/4 “ with a straight edge, not a radius edge like yours. It is also much thinner. My question is ….. Should I be looking for a straight or radius edge? How wide for just general spindle work? Thank you for any advice you can offer 🤠
Hi Randy, For general work with the skew I like a slightly radiuses edge, because I peel a lot, and the slightly curved edge helps keep the long point and short point from scarring the work on a delicate peel. You make the edge curved when sharpening. I think 3/4 or 1 inch is a good size. Take care.
