I did this last year Tessie, with rosemary. I kept mine in a pot and have used it all winter. I will re-pot this year in a little larger pot. So fun, all because of your video last year! Your kitchen in the background looks so pretty. 🦋🌸
Luv this vid! I live in the Midwest and brought my rosemary and thyme both in this Fall- trying to keep them alive in pots (they were already potted on our patio) as they're so expensive to buy every year. I don't know if they'll make it. Now I also know because of you- I can do what you showed us. I'm sooo excited! Thank you!
Genius! I've only rooted cuttings of my own and you are so right about rosemary being expensive. I've had no success with over wintering rosemary, not even on my window sill.
herbs are very expensive in the store here in Wisconsin it would cost me a fortune to do that but it's a great idea I'll keep looking for discounts on it
Great video! I use to work in a grocery store just last year! A lady would come in once a week and buy a basil plant! One day I asked her why she always got one! She said, I cook with it and then I just throw the little pot away! I just wish a didn't have to buy so much! Tessie, it was a plant!!! I told her take it home and plant it!!!! She says, plant it where? I said try planting one outside somewhere and try putting one in a pot in your kitchen! She said, I would never put a pot of dirt in my kitchen! Shaking my head! People really just don't know..... I have the worst luck with Rosemary! I will try this little trick! I have got to figure out how to send you pictures!!! Should I put the herb pots in OUR cold frame? LOL
Wow, I can't believe I never tried that before! Great idea! I'm going to see if my stores reduce those packs next time. They usually charge $4 per pack where I live (not dirt cheap), so I never bought any.
Morning Tessie 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 Wow really good deal on the herbs I grow a lot of herbs I have a new spot I plan on planting more herbs this spring .. This is really cool God Bless💕 you sis 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Jane I had so many ask that,I never tried it I am not sure it would work ,it is not a woody stem,But you could try it !! Now some basil do have a more woody stem depends on what kind of Basil I am thinking
This is such a great idea. There have been many plants I've rooted this way.. I started a boxwood bush this way too. Free landscaping plants for the yard. Here at my daughters house there isn't much sun and I've lost quite a few of my plants I've had for many years. But I know that once I get my own place again I can make more p,ants. I hope lots of people follow your example and try rooting herbs for their kitchen gardens. Thanks and I hope you have a great day.
Me too, It must be the few drops of French blood that I have (they have endless fields of lavender). But those drops didn't help during the French lessons at school, believe it or not but PA Dutch is much more understandable for me :)
