My mom was cleaning out everything in the house today, and I randomly found my old 3s and 3Gs lol. So fun to see what the products were like back in time!
@RU-vid Nutzer seriously? I feel like if anything selfies were even *more* of a thing back then (in a relative sense) than they are now. Does nobody remember mirror selfies?
My first phone was an iPhone 5, but I gave it to my mother’s friend because she needed a phone. I current use an iPhone XR so definitely better than an iPhone 5. I wish didn’t give my iPhone 5 because THIS LOOKS FUN AND ME WANNA DO THIS NOW!!! Nice video Luke 👍👍👍 iPhone 5 was peak of iPhone repairability wise, and design (my opinion)
My iPhone 5S was my best mobile phone buy ever! Loved it and had it with me for 2 years, then my dad had it for 2 more years when it finally moved over to my mom who just stopped using it a year ago! What a device!
I have a collection of iPhone 3's 4's and 5's. I've been LOOKING for a kit like this. All I could find was that one company that gives it to you already made....what's the fun in that!? THANK YOU for bringing this website to my attention. I will certainly be doing this. The iPhone 4 was my first but the 5 was by far my absolute favorite. Great video as always Luke.
My first iPhone was the iPhone 4 but my favourite has always been the iPhone 5 it’s design was always the best in my opinion I will definitely be trying out this kit!
I still have my mint iPhone 4 that still works, though I don't know what condition the battery is in. You talk about a manufacturing marvel. I am still amazed that they can make the screws as tiny as they are
Since my first iPhone and my entry to the Apple world was also the iPhone 5 in slate I totally feel you. Just ordered one of these kits aswell. Now I just need to get an old iPhone 5 off EBay since I’m also not gonna take apart my working mint condition iOS 6 iPhone 5. 😅Greetings from Germany.
Very objective video... looks like everybody's forgotten how controversial that design was when the iPhone 5 came out. Nostalgia, like love, is so blind.
Still have my 4S. It worked last time I checked. Complete with the original box. The 4/4S introduced the form factor, still, it had a better balanced aspect ratio, almost perfect, to my idea. And so small. I loved it!
My first ever iPhone was an iPhone 3G, a friend from college sold it to me back in fall 2011 (replacing my LG Cookie GS290), at first I was amazed by this phone, it looked so new back then, ( the quality of the screen compared to my cookie was fairly superior) then, I realised how tremendously slow it was, god it was so slow that even the music was skippy at some parts, many of the apps were only available for the 3GS and the 4, the last iOS 4.2.1 update left the phone almost unusable, so I sold it after 2 months. 10 years later, I got a brand new 3G only for collection.
My first apple product was my parents old 2007 macbook, which is broken and I don't know how to fix it, and my first iphone, the 5s, is also broken in a drawer and i think it is a logic board issue because whenever I turn it on it boot loops for about 2 minutes then flashes a completely red screen and shuts off. I used it from 2015-2018, and I have done a screen replacement on it but that was a cheap thing that broke a while ago. Still rocking the iphone se first gen becaues I can't get enough of the design but when I inevitabely have to upgrade I think i will go with the iphone 12 or 13 mini because I love the form factor
My introduction to apple was my elementary school computer lab with the iMac G3 my first Apple device was the iPod Touch 4th generation. My first iPhone was the iPhone 6 in space gray
The 5 is the best design from any phone ever. No camera bump, no weird shaped led flash, no raised ring on the home button, just a pure and minimalist design. And a perfect size! OS wise I prefer the iOS 7 and later look. Skeuomorphism never did it for me.
@@axethepenguin on my old 5S I can feel the sharp step between the ring and touch id, but maybe that’s just it coming loose with use. Anyways they solved that with haptic and non moving button on the 7 and later.
The iPhone 5 design is absolutely timeless, however I think the iPhone 4 design has managed to be revived more than once in the last few years. Ironically, my first iPhone was an iPhone 4 my dad got me as a birthday present in 2012, when it was still being sold, at a vastly lower price.
iPhone 5 is your first ever??? Newbie! Hehehehe... You never had the good feeling of holding an iPhone 3G/3GS in your hands... those were the best! But this actually looks very nice! Despite the fact that your whole room looks crooked... you can't barely notice the crooked parts glued to the frame! And it has a good price with the tools, the frame and so on. Cool. I'll think about doing the same as well.
I’ve taken apart a lot of iPhones and macs, honestly I prefer the torx screws Phillips screws have a bad habbit to slip and become unusable torxs doesn’t. This issue really comes up when you get old devices and water damaged ones.
It’s definitely the best design for an iPhone yet, if they released an iPhone 5 sized phone but with a full size screen I’d be all over that. (iPhone 12 mini is almost there)
Luke can you do a review of the iPhone SE in 2021? Since you mentioned form factor I’d like to know how it would fair today. I have one that needs a battery, want to know if it’s worth it.
I just repurpose my iPhone 5 into a music player. Using it with my Philips SHP 9500 headphone after ripping all my CDs using my old iMac into Apple Lossless.
Cool idea. My iPhone 5 when still quite new battery died while I was hiking across Dartmoor using it for nav. Not good. I gave it to my daughter as soon as I got home and didn’t buy another iPhone until the 12 Pro Max. It is far more useful on your wall 😂
I am so glad Apple returned to the 'boxy' style in the iPhone 12 series. Don't get me wrong I loved the 6,7,X,Xs,11 pro (I skipped the 8 lol) BUT I felt I had to have a case on them. I now have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and find that half the time I find it better without a case.
Thanks for the video! Now i know what to do with the iPhone 3GS, 4s and 5 i have in my collection! Edit: just gone on the website and they list the iPhone 3GS as having the A4 chip, the iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to house Apple custom silicone. It will set my OCD off if they have the A4 listing for the 3GS. Also the iPhone 3GS was my first iPhone and was the best one in my opinion haha!
My first iPhone was a iPhone 5s but I never used it than I got a 6s never really used it then when I got my Xs I used it everyday every minute so I count it as my first iPhone
@@Lswizzle06 had the iPhone 7+ Also just realised the SE 1st gen is basically the iPhone 5 the only difference was the specs on the camera and GPU the parts will work fine
I fell asleep watching this, and ended up having a dream about being in some kind of apartment share with Luke, apparently because we were both in college or something (which is weird af coz I'm 40) and for some reason I took my phone apart and couldn't get it back together again.. then I found him packing his stuff to move out, and he started apologising for bailing, but I was too busy checking to see if his room was bigger and better than mine...
AVOID THIS COMPANY!!! I ordered this kit for my old iPhone 6s in May 2022, it’s now November and I have never got an update or anything shipped to me. I have had no reply to any of my attempts to reach out and so am now out of pocket for this kit. Avoid this company!!!
the fact i have a iPhone 5, and just opened it to re connect some antennas just to attempt to fix the "searching" issue.... Lol. coincidence? i think not
